on March 2nd 2022 I took a lesson with Richard Rosales at Future Golf, the lesson went well and was happy with the instruction as I learned something new. a couple of weeks later I text Richard wanting to make another appt but the next day I texted him back to cancel bc I had an unexpected medical bill that needed my financial attention, he never responded back which led me to believe he was upset. 2 weeks later I text him if he had any openings that same day, he responded very childish informing me that if I wanted to improve my game he needed me to take lessons with him every 2 weeks or else my progress would stall. What I found upsetting he text back "if you want to keep your swing up to par, you'll have to find another set of pair of eyes", I responded by saying "Not everyone can afford to give 100% commitment bc of responsibilities". Golf is a high maintenance expensive game that requires a lot of practice, most ppl who work full time trying to find the time to practice can be challenging. Richard responded saying he didn't say he never wanted to work with me, but the damaged had been done.
You know some instructors understand that the profession they chose to make a career is 100% commission but some instructors like Richard only see ppl as a number or $$$, not as a person.
if you dont abide with their agenda they cut you off bc they want students that will only give them a steady stream of $$$. a good instructor cares about the process and enjoyment of their students, receiving a text saying "how is your practice going" or a follow up to see how their doing shows students that the instructor cares and is concerned about their game.
if you take a lesson with Richard just be aware of his TRUE intentions, the only reason why I gave 2 stars and not 1 is bc owner Will Lozano is really awesome and nice to his customers, Will always made me feel welcome and is the consummate professional.
Find an instructor who cares about your progress and not see you as their 10am appointment.
