We've belonged to three ballet studios (we've moved a few times) and have been here the longest. This school impresses me with the level of quality instruction starting with the youngest kids. At a previous dance studio, the "Pre-ballet" or "Ballet I" classes were taught by young college students (and even one high school senior) who were trying to get teaching experience. Here, every teacher we have had has been a professional and has instructed the kids as such. The atmosphere is caring and loving but also fairly serious. You are following in the footsteps of many dancers who have attended the school over 52 years and have gone on to dance careers. The Nutcracker performance sells out at UB every year, and the end of the year recital (also at UB) is an enormous production. This is not the YMCA's music and movement class. They offer ballet, pointe, acro, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, Broadway dance, jazz and tap, as well as adult ballet classes. The cost seems comparable to other dance studios in the area, and there is a discount for families. The school also offers camps in the summer, including a "Princess camp" for girls 8 and younger that seems very popular.

It just showed the impression that it was a cool, hip place to be! This was my second class with Shawna (first one I tried with her was at LA fitness). She teaches Zumba with a Latin flare - I LOVE her choice in music! A lot of Reggaeton, which I love! Most of it is very (to extremely) fast pace. Sometimes I have to pause to try and figure out the steps if I get totally lost, but my second class was way easy for me than the first. I don't dance, and I've never done Zumba before, so this is super new to me. Breaking a sweat and dancing to sweet music is just so much fun. The only thing I could say about the studio itself, is that it's small, and there is only one mirror, but it wasn't the one we were facing. I guess there's both pros and cons to that though. At least you aren't getting distracted so much trying to compare yourself with everyone else in the mirror since you're watching the instructor on a stage in front of you instead. I see that they offer a jump class! I have got to try that next!

Here's what to expect: an extreme intense work out abs sweating lots of sweating! Cyndi was great! She was very motivational and really got the class into it. She will not let you fail. If she sees you falling behind she will push you through the class, in a good way. :) The small studio gym has a very nice setup and the chalkboard on the wall displays all of the classes that are taught there. I might have to try a Zumba class. What would make this class more enjoyable for me, personally would be a better music selection. Perhaps current or modern music, like a top 49 playlist. I can't wait to try another class soon, that is when soreness in my legs from jumping goes away.

My daughter mostly just runs around and lives her best life but she's picked up a few new dance moves. You pay a monthly fee and go once a week as your "home class". They also offer unlimited classes in the summer which is included. Miss Rachel is great with all of the kids, even when it's a bit chaotic. I enjoy at the end of each class the kids get to wind down a bit and color a picture before they leave. We hope to stick with this studio as my daughter grows :)
