I took my mom to Fustini's for her birthday today for an interactive cooking class. We had so much fun! Chef Andy was very engaging, professional and a true master at his craft. I could just watch him do it art all day. We had a 4 course meal that was just to die for. We started with an almond, fig and brie salad with lemon vinaigrette. It was outstanding and so easy. Next we had bacon and tomato bruschetta. Again, so good. The main dish was a pork chop with apple/brandy sauce and apples. The pork was so moist and almost melted in your mouth. Andy gave us tips and tricks along the way. I hope I can re-create this and impress my family and friends. We fished by making a hand made whipped cream for a lovely almond cherry cake. I loved every minute and can't wait to return.

Team VP is FODMAP free, which sometimes can make our lives complicated. Part of the challenge we face on top of our FODMAP diet is adding back in flavor from restricted foods we once used in our cooking at home. Garlic, for instance is a big no, no. We discovered that garlic infused oil was an acceptable option and started to use the brand the supermarket carried and did not question our decision until my Mom gave me a bottle of garlic infused oil after a trip to Holland. The difference was astounding. This oil is light and fresh and so ridiculously garlicky good. We use it in all our recipes that call for garlic. I just pour some in. I use the oil on pizza crust (GF and V) and just about anything else you could possibly imagine. We even have converted our parents over to using this oil. For convenience purposes, I order five bottles at a time online. They ship directly to my house for just under $10. We will not be using the supermarket brand ever again.

We took a cooking class here on pizza and pasta night. We had a riot. John was our chef who taught us a lot while having a lot of laughs together with the group we were in. I bought some amazing products and I now know how to use them. The smaller oils would be great stocking stuffers around the holidays. Great place and great products!!!!

“I also love that they have some really interesting cooking classes held there (I'm probably going to sign up for a class this summer).”

I have gotten items for a party but I haven't eaten in their cafe until today. I had the Swiss Miss…read morewhich was really good and my husband had the Smoky Apple which was also good. Our friend had the chili and said that it was great. Each sandwich came with choice of chips, baguette, or Cornichons. They have some cozy indoor seating as well as outdoor tables. I was planning an afternoon in Holland and I found this spot on Yelp. I love grilled cheese (and…read moreactually call them toastie cheese sandwiches) so I was hoping I could snag a quick lunch. I lucked out with a 15 minute parking spot across the street and ran in. The front of the space has a cheese counter and lots of products for sale to create the cheeseboard of your dreams. I saw cutting boards, crackers and accoutrements, cookbooks, and more. I was on a mission, though, so I headed towards the back and through what looked to be a wine tasting area. Then I entered the Grilled Cheese Bistro, with its cute seating area and friendly employee. The menu is pretty simple -- choose your toastie (they have a handful of curated options), pick half or full sandwich, choose your bread, choose your side (chips, pickle, or bread), and then add a cup or a bowl of soup. All the options sounded delicious but I'm a savory person, always, so i got the Mama Mia, which has two kinds of cheese, pesto, and tomato. I went with the recommended Italian bread, and I added a cup of the tomato bisque, which is self-serve. They also had chicken pot pie and minestrone. My sandwich was done quickly and looked delicious -- super cheesy and perfectly toasted (aka it didn't destroy the roof of my mouth). The pesto and tomato were great additions, and dunking it in the soup was so fun and tasty. I loved this lunch so much and I wish they would open a location in Grand Rapids! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Nice clean place with a great selection, helpful service, and good prices. They have all kinds of…read moremeat like brats, chicken, beef, and fish. They also have some buns and various condiments. All of the meat is shrink-wrapped and a lot of it is frozen. I bought some twice-baked potatoes, two huge stuffed chicken breasts (One mushroom and one broccoli cheddar), and a package of lemon-marinated chicken thighs for $40! The only one that I've eaten so far is the mushroom-stuffed chicken breast and it was really delicious. I'm looking forward to trying everything else in my freezer. They were super helpful about answering questions and giving cooking instructions. Since so much of their food is prepared it's a great place for people who don't cook.

The Bearded Dutchman was okay, but unfortunately didn't live up to the recommendations I had…read morereceived. The meat sticks were good overall, although I thought they could have used a little more flavor. I specifically stopped in hoping to pick up some blueberry brats, but they were sold out, so I went with the beer brats instead. They were decent, but again seemed to lack seasoning. I also asked about the cheese dips. The young gentleman working behind the counter was polite, but he didn't offer much guidance or any recommendations when I asked about the options. I ended up trying the jerk dip, which tasted more like cream cheese than jerk seasoning and had little flavor. Overall, nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really stood out either. The Bearded Dutchman came highly recommended, so perhaps my expectations were a little high. I'd be willing to give the blueberry brats a try if I'm back in the area and they're available, but this visit fell short of expectations.
