Glob of hair behind shampoo dispenser

I've been a member at the Fairless Hills location for over 4 months since moving to PA. I am usually there from 5:30am-7am. Equipment is okay and the cardio equipment rarely works. The bathrooms aren't great. Trash is on the floor where I get ready after I shower and not picked up or swept for weeks at a time. The shower heads are broken and haven't been fixed since I've started making them aware two months ago. The showers don't get cleaned. There is always globs of hair that stay in there for weeks (and meanwhile the cleaning lady sits on her phone talking to her boyfriend and doing her makeup and hair while hiding in the sauna room). Despite all of this the gym is nice and pretty.

*disclaimer this review is based on the registration process only I signed up for a gym membership the end of summer 2016 with the promise that the gym would open before December. December came and went and so did January, February and March. I would call and email looking for updates but couldn't reach anyone. April and May crept by and still nothing. At that point I just wanted to cancel my membership and get my money back. An entire year had gone by with no contact from the staff as to when the gym would open. I filed a compliant with the better business bureau and was told the gym went out of business. I called everyone one of their other locations and the phone would just ring and ring. Suddenly, out of the blue in November I received notification they were up and running....11 months after the promised open date. I've been to the gym a few times but would like to visit more before adding a review on the gym itself.

This gym and owner are nothing but empty promise scam artists. My membership was canceled due to an alleged "fake review" I wrote. I yet have to see the review they were referring to. I joined this gym two years ago despite the bad reputation Tony had with his old gym and ignored the fact he was on the news for scamming members. Someone really took the time to make this video to call out the shady business that goes on behind closed doors at fusion - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l6Mmzf1ilk I included screenshots to backup my statement of empty promises. You can see almost 2 years ago members were led to believe the gym was going to have "state of the art" equipment. Ash and the staff (Tony's minions), were trained to tell members all the promised equipment was coming in "next month". Since maybe 70% of the original members are no longer there, the new members have no idea what this gym was supposed to deliver. Also, there is not a single trainer working there anymore that was there when the gym opened (what's that say about the employer?). Employees are constantly changing as well. Tony claims he made over 5 million dollars in the gym industry yet can't keep up with one of the smallest gyms in Philly. Did I mention how machines are ALWAYS broken or don't work properly? I've almost gotten injured several times on the low quality cable machines. The new "hammer strength" machines look like they came out of cereal boxes. The toys you get in a Cracker Jack box will last longer than these machines. I never used the cardio machines but people claim they're always broken as well. All the equipment seems to have been purchased from a used gym equipment supplier. The machines are all different, mismatched brands, and clearly used before they were installed at this location. All in all, I'm glad I don't go here anymore. I bragged about this place for a long time before I realized for myself what a scam it was. I had several people sign up because of me and I regret telling them to. Pay attention to the Yelp reviews since they can't be taken down like Google reviews and pay really close attention to the Yelp screenshot I included that mentions how an alarming amount of positive reviews are coming from the same IP address. For non-techy people, this means the gym itself is writing fake reviews to boost their rating. If this review is taken down, then it's ok because I have more ammo up my sleeve.

According to my friend, a man posing as a staff member who was "working out on his break" lingered in the men's locker room and broke into the locker while my friend was working out. What was particularly disappointing was the response afterward. My friend did not receive an apology from management, and staff declined to review the available security footage with him in an effort to identify the individual involved.

If you don't - good luck with that! After everyone gets home from work the gym is a mad house. Around 6 there are so many people you can hardly get a workout in sometimes, forget about doing the exercises you came there to do. The combination of the large variety of machines but few of each, huge amount of people, and limited space make it sometimes impossible to get on all of the machines and equipment you came for. For example, there are three stair masters. Now there are two because one has been broken for over a month (full disclosure: they did put up a sign saying they are working on it). Those are some popular machines! You literally have to wait behind them and hope the person on them gets off so you can get on it during peak hours. It can be pretty frustrating when your leg day has to turn into back day because hulk hogan won't get off the squat rack. That said, the people who lift there are all pretty experienced. I see a lot of athletes from different universities and body builders, both men and women. One time someone came over and helped me with my squat form. That was really nice of him. Unfortunately, that kind of setting can be intimidating for some people (like my gf). I think that's silly though. I did the trial of small group fitness classes. It kicked my butt! Great workout for sure. But the trainer sees me around the gym all the time and never says hello. I'm not feeling the love. The rest of the staff often yells to each other really loudly. Some trainer was yelling for no reason, just talking LOUDLY, with her clients during my workout today. It was really distracting and annoying. I don't need to hear your conversation from the other side of the gym. I think it's unprofessional. To be honest I'd leave the gym but they have me stuck in a year contract. I need a gym that I can rely on for a good workout, working machines, and good service!

It really pains me to write this review. I've been taking classes at RippedPHL since shortly after…read morethey opened. Of the various treadmill workout studios in the area that have come and gone over the years, it consistently was my favorite. It had been in my regular rotation for a while until they changed the Thursday night class that best fit in my schedule to a strength only class. Since I really like the treadmill portion I hadn't been here in several months. During that time they made some changes, and the class names changed. I was hoping it was just the names, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'll start by saying that I'm a runner - I run regularly, most often on trails with lots of hills. Although I am squarely a back of the pack, party pace runner. Ripped's treadmill programs have three options of increasing difficulty. They also have a high incline hiking option that I was excited about when they launched, but never ended up trying once I saw that it hits speeds of 4.0 MPH and higher. That's not a realistic hiking pace for me, especially when you're at double digit inclines. I've always found level 1 of the running programs challenging, but doable. Now, however, level 1 is significantly harder. When the first treadmill interval kicked off, instead of the usual 3.8 MPH warm-up pace, the level 1 warm-up pace had jumped to 4.5 MPH, which is a pretty significant increase. And it just got harder from there. At one point the speed was at 6.5 MPH, which used to be a flat road sprint speed for level 1, but this time we were mid-hill on a 5% incline and going up from there. The second tread set started off with 5.0 MPH as the warm-up. For level 1! That's not a warm-up for me - that's my race pace. I had to completely tap out with this new program. I know some people like the challenge of striving for goals out of reach and find that motivating, but I'm the opposite. If I wanted to try something harder and currently out of reach I could try levels 2 or 3. Finding myself completely unable to keep up with the lowest level option as someone who identifies as a runner outside of class, let me feeling really bad about myself. I used to leave these classes feeling tired and challenged, but confident and accomplished. I left this class feeling defeated and bad about myself. At a time when it seems like a lot of studios are making an effort to accommodate people at all levels of the their fitness journey, Ripped appears to be going in the other direction. And yes, I realize I can modify and reduce the speed or walk when I can't keep up, but those numbers I'm supposed to be attaining and failing to reach are right there in front of me challenging how I feel about my performance. One of the benefits of fitness classes for me is the boost they provide to my mental health, and that isn't going to help me think positively about my fitness journey and performance. If your approach to fitness is different than mine and/or you're further along on your fitness journey in terms of performance, I encourage you to try RippedPHL. It really is a great studio - the instructors are amazing and the front desk is always awesome and welcoming. And I'm assuming their regular members asked for this update and like the harder programs, which is why they've made the update. I wish the studio the best, I really do - we've lost too many fitness studios in Philly recently. But I feel like I stepped off the train for a minute and it sped away and left me behind. So I'm going to have to explore other options that work better for me for where I am on my physical and mental fitness journey.

For someone that wants to get into running I really think that this is a great motivation. Everyone is on treadmills and the intensity of the speed and workout varies during the workout. Each treadmill is state of the art and they have large vivid screens that were streaming images of streets of NYC. It was engaging to watch. You would alternate from the treadmill to the workout benches and on the benches there were different weights that you could use for activities like dead lifts and sumo squats. There was also a variety of stretching exercises. The workout room was a bit cramped and dark for my liking but maybe that is something that just takes some getting used to.

I just kind of look over at what my girlfriend is doing, and do +1 speed or just go straight by feel. I love the mix of weights and cardio, and there is nothing like pushing yourself on a treadmill to see your top speed.
