Went to Furniture Fair as the last stop on our hunt for new home furniture. Was pleasantly surprised at the huge selection of living room sofas and chairs. We were greeted at the door by an incredibly attentive and informative young man named Dillon. He wasn't your typical salesman. He truly wanted to know what we were looking for so he could steer us to the right couch, asking about materials, style, etc. He helped narrow our search, saving us time and money. He really listened. That's a rare trait. No high pressure, trying to upsell extras we didn't want. He was pleasant and efficient. My husband and I went into Furniture Fair in New Bern to look for new furniture for us. We were greeted by Tony, he welcomed us to the store and asked how we are doing? He asked me what I was looking for? I responded that I am looking for something simple a sofa and 2 rocker recliners, so we started looking around and I found a sofa that was simple and the color I wanted and it was a DEAL! He then proceeded to tell us to go and look for the recliners while he went to check if that sofa I picked was in stock. My husband and I found the recliners and they were on SALE too! We found a couch we liked at the right price. Not too expensive, not too cheap. Instead of purchasing the floor model, which we could have taken home right then and there, we agreed to custom order the couch, after being told the wait time would be 6 weeks. The custom order also meant we could not receive the discount that the floor model had on it. We agreed to it because we liked the customized version better and the wait wasn't too long. 6 weeks later we got a call saying it's going to be more like 10 weeks. At 10 weeks, we got a call saying it was at least going to be another 2. They refuse to compensate us anything on the price, and are still insisting that we pick the couch up when (if) it finally arrives. So not only will we be waiting over twice as long (it will be more than 3 months) for a couch that that we only bought because of the guarantees they made us, but they refuse to budge on the price we paid, or the delivery. A reputable company would at least give us the price of the floor model that we didn't purchase. Terrible business practice. I realize they are at the "mercy" of the shipper, but if they have any desire for further business from us, or any recommendations from us to friends, they will step up and practice proper business and at least deliver the couch. Any further delays and we'll probably be going to the better business bureau. read more

Would not budge $1 on a so called liquidation price that is in fact not a deal whatsoever. Typical bait and switch retail tactics, they have cheap furniture for 600, mid grade for 700, and the so called top of the line for 1000 plus. In reality you are getting baited for the top of the line which is really only worth 5 or 600 or less, or you spend 600-700 for 200 dollar quality. Go ahead and finance your purchase interest free while you are there since the price is already marked up 25-30% anyways. read more

We just moved into town and purchased a sofa from Furniture Fair -New Bern location. Upon delivery, both my entry wall and new sofa were damaged. The delivery men were very apologetic but I called the store and let them know. I was advised that a manager would call me back. I received a call advising me that a replacement sofa would be delivered in a few days. No questions asked ! Now that's customer service! Thank you Furniture Fair! read more

We had the same problem as the reviewer below....while the quality of our furniture is what was expected of a place like this and for the price (not super amazing but not horribly cheap) we were told it would arrive in a week, after a week we were told another week, then we were told 2 more weeks after that...they wouldn't compensate free shipping, offered no discount, not even really a sincere apology. After calling the corporate office we were told "sorry thanks for letting us know". We agreed to a refund, when my husband went in to do the paper work the manager offered him a free mattress cover and told us our furniture would 100% be here the next week. It was, a week plus 2 days....I wouldn't say I won't shop here ever again but I will have the expectation that it is longer than what is promised. read more

I'm disabled and my sister helping me move in so account was set up through Mobil home company for me to quickly furnish before surgery. I agree there is INCOMPETENCY AND FRAUD! This is my first review and I'm not a complainer. First four things I chose were not in stock..she never said I could order or there was another store. Service person followed us from item to item giving me a total so my next choices were based upon amount left in account. Last two items of bedroom set did have to be ordered. We left store with FIVE PAGES of items a total on each page BUT NO FINAL TOTAL. The writing of each item was not in plain English but two or three items per page in abbreviations and scribbles of their short hand. It was my mistake not to question but spinal injury makes standing painful. Ten minuets down the road my friend does realize the ordered items are missing--we call correct and over all total goes up hundreds of dollars. Upon delivery, MAIN PIECE I WANTED (other stuff necessary) which I made CLEAR-a coffee table- was not there. Call and they say I NEVER BOUGHT IT. I'm not the one lying. Again, all choices were based upon amount left in account which sales clerk is giving me piece to piece. THE ONLY ITEM I HAD TO HAVE CHOSEN MID WAY THEY SAY I NEVER PURCHASED SO I NEVER GET! We go clearly over the scribbled paper work and REALIZE I WAS CHARGES $400 for a 5 year warranty on brand new washer and dryer!! I was never asked and would have said no. I wrote negative comment on their email about my experience. I got an immediate reply and call from higher up...I furnished a whole house asked if they would throw in a lamp in clearance..no. Asked again of higher up. Don't remember his answer but implication was he would do something about problem. NOTHING! JUST PURCHASED ITEMS FROM A COMPETITOR. It was professional, I received a CLEAR RECEIPT AND THE SALES CLERK GAVE IS 10 and 15 percent discount on two items. read more

As the other two views have said this place does not have good customer service. We have not purchased anything here yet and I hope we never ever have to just buy shopping there I can tell that they have no interest in truly helping you. We went to look for some furniture in the evening time and the person who was helping us seemed completely incompetent and like he had no idea what he was doing. One star is too much in terms of customer service. Purchased a bed, mattress set and tv here and was told it would be delivered either Saturday or Sunday, which changed to Monday and I finally got it on Tuesday. Bed did not need a box spring, which they failed to mention and when I called to return the box spring, which I can't use, I was told sorry they're sold as a set, just donate it if you can't use it. The manager was extremely rude when we were paying for the items and tried to overcharge me by $60 on the tv. Even though their merchandise is nice and their (sale) prices good, I will not return, as I don't like doing business with dishonest rude people. read more
