Surprisingly not that many in the Chesterfield area... so while I was in between meetings at the new job, I sent off enquiries to three different companies. Only two responded and only Tidy Tiffany & Co was able to meet the timeframe we were looking for... on really short notice. Jemma was quick to respond to my email and was able to give me a quote over the phone based on my description of the house and what needed doing... which was really appreciated since we were already in London and couldn't just pop over to the house to let someone in. I'll admit that when the quote came in, Mr. Snarky and I didn't think it would take 6 hours of work, but the quote was bang on the money! Not only that, but when I talked with Jemma on the phone about the fact that we were driving up from London and we would drive back early evening, she was able to get more of her staff to help out, so we wouldn't be leaving quite so late. When they showed up, they were all wearing black uniforms so you could identify them easily and they were really friendly. They got to work quickly and between the three of them, managed to clean the house (3 bed semi-detached) in two hours. Jemma even cleaned the refrigerator :). They asked us to do a walk through and make sure that we were happy with the results. They did a wonderful job... the house looked like it did when we moved in. Not to mention that they were able to accommodate us on really short notice (I contacted them the same week... Wednesday or Thursday and they came to clean on Saturday afternoon). I don't have any other quotes to compare to as the other company needed to walk through the house, but at £160 for three staff, over two hours, on short notice... we thought it worth every penny! We had the misfortune of our house buyers choosing Wosskow Brown Solicitors. What should have a…read morebeen a simple process with a small chain and a first time buyer was dragged out unnecessarily for weeks by Wosskow Brown through their incompetence and 'compliance' team that moved at a glacial pace. They were impossible to get hold of, either by their own client, the estate agents and other solicitors in the chain. The appointed solicitor was never available on the phone. When they did finally produce a reply it was often a one-line unhelpful email that did nothing to further the process and often didn't even answer the original question. Wosskow Brown were even worse when it finally came to agreeing a completion date. At the 11th hour they decided to question and ask for documents for simple things, like the boiler and conservatory, that had been answered four or five months prior. When a completion date was finally agreed with all the other parties involved, they pulled out the business day before at 3:00pm saying they weren't ready, despite being the first party in the chain and therefore having the most time to have been ready. It incurred extra costs, headaches and stress that should've been completely avoided. They'll probably reply with some trite answer to this review about how I'm not actually their client. But read it as a warning to not get tied up with an incompetent, thoroughly useless solicitor. If it wasn't for our constant chasing through our estate agent and solicitor, we would probably still be waiting for Wosskow Brown to pull their finger out and actually do something as they have zero initiative or drive. The worst solicitors I have ever encountered. Avoid like the plague.
