Uncovered bread stored on the floor? Yikes!!

Uncovered bread stored on the floor? Yikes!! The owner of this place should stay in the office. His disdain for customers is palpable. After we asked to see a menu, he sent us all around the outside of the building to find a menu board (3 times) then finally took us to where it was supposed to be only to find that it had not been put up. At that point he turned and, without a word spoken, he walked away.

Finally a place to enjoy excellent food and drinks in a comfortable ambiance!!!…read more Being in town from Texas and visiting family, I wanted to have a good meal out and I found Embers Restaurant & Bar to be a true gem for food, service and atmosphere!!!. With its authentic cuisine and attention to detail in the quality of the ingredients used, it's the place to go to for a higher end restaurant in the area. From the Beet Salad to both the Elk and Salmon Tartare's and to the Grilled Salmon I had and more, everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious. This even includes the quality of the coffee beans used in their coffee drinks and the Bourbon used in their Chocolate Bourbon desert. And the team from Irene my waitress to Christine the manager and to Zach the bar tender, everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. Providing excellent customer oriented service. If you want a comfortable ambiance, their contemporary design will transport you to a stylish and warm downtown setting and their menu of classic dishes with a creative twist will satisfy the most discerning palate and leave you wanting to come back again and again. Whether you go for a full meal or just a desert with a flavorful espresso, or two, or simply spend part of the day sipping drinks or a good glass of wine or beer on-tap, it's the place to go to satisfy your palate. Enjoy!

The paté/terrine (pork and maybe duck or rabbit?) would have been perfect, with big chunks of pork and nicely done, had it not been for the salt content. WAY too much salt. Had it been served with plain fresh bread, it would have been less noticeable. The bread is $12 ! I'm sure the butter that comes with it is great but I did not order it. I might have, at $6. The beet salad was good, not exceptional. The wine pours are very short. We were disappointed.

When you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly hostess and the vibe is awesome for a date night or evening with friends Wine selections- love them. It's enough that you have choices without being overwhelmed. I opted for the Sangiovese and I'm currently trying to figure out who sells it where I live since we're just visiting Burlington! They also have a cava from a vineyard that I walked by in Spain a few summers ago so they're selling the good stuff. We ordered the bread and butter which I originally felt was elevated pricing but we felt the butter made it worth it. Meatballs were good but not my favorite of all time. Loved the pasta dish. It's truly homemade and as a pasta maker myself, you can tell that a lot of effort goes into it. Service was wonderful with attentive people who are happy to share their favorites with you. We would definitely come back for either dinner or some small bites and wine!

We were warmly greeted, and they inquired if we were there for a table/bar seating, or the retail shop. We sat at the bar, and there were other customers at tables enjoying a glass and engrossed in conversation. They offer a small snack menu, along with a selection of wines, and they have a good knowledge and will provide counsel on the options. We ordered the ricotta toast and the lonzo, a ham similar to prosciutto. Both were delicious! The lonzo comes with a drizzle of quality olive oil on top, and a sprinkle of salt, and a dab of mustard. The ricotta toast (no pic sorry) was also tasty. The space leans to industrial loft, but is warm and invites conversations and relaxation. The shop also has a retail space, and a monthly wine club subscription is an option. It is separated from the restaurant, but not a quirk of their shop, but archaic Vermont liquor laws. We decide to subscribe and picked up our first selections to take home.

We sat at the bar for glasses of wine with lots of treats: a bowl of yummy olives, fancy tinned fish, bresaola, mind-blowing new award-winning blue cheese from Jasper Hill (withersbrook) and a cherry, tomato, almond, burratini salad...all served with slices of excellent bread. Perfect accompaniments to each plate: lemon and garlic with the fish, cherry conserves with the cheese, etc... We'll be back again and again, with friends in tow.

With all the horror stories about food poisoning, antibiotics and hormones, it's nice to be able to…read moreknow the source of what we eat! This place is about short proximity supplies of great quality, natural, organic food. They grow their own beef, control the process at the slaughterhouse and sell it directly to the public. The meat is individually wrap and frozen quickly to make sure that the quality remain high. This enable them to offer a wide choice of cuts and the vacuum packing enables quick unfreezing in cold water. On this nice spring day, we settle to have our first bbq of the season but our plan was rather a late one... we didn't have a bbq and it was 4 pm and stores were closing at 5 pm on this Saturday. After stoping in Hudson to buy a charcoal Weber (with charcoal) we asked the store if they knew of a butcher in town and one of the girl directed us vaguely to this producer. We got there at 4:30 pm and were greeted by a nice and very enthusiastic woman who gladly showed us their variety of cuts available. For our bbq, we settle on a great porterhouse steak which she suggested would take about an hour to unfreeze in cold water. We also bough some bacon and fresh eggs. At home, we unfroze the steak while assembling the bbq and proceeded to cook our steak. A porterhouse is a higher quality t-bone and is big enough to share (a part of it is the "filet mignon"). I shared the sirloin part with my partner (who had a small part with her salmon) and our son got the filet mignon. It was probably the tastier piece of meat I ever had in North America! We followed up with bacon and eggs on the next morning and it was absolutely great. They don't produce their own pork and chickens but source it from nearby places they know and they make sure that those follow the same organic, humane process that they do for their beef. An awesome place to know and we will be back often. My philosophy with meat is that it is better to eat less of it but when you do, source it with high quality. This place makes it possible and easy to do for us! They also have a place in Terrebonne for those that find it more convenient.
