Dr. Park was very honest and forthright about my tooth, saying he could try saving it but if there was pain after the filling, I may need one. Wanting to avoid a root canal at all cost, I told him, let's do it! He was very gentle, skilled, and made sure I was comfortable. The tooth came out beautiful! It has been over a month since the filling and absolutely no pain or issues. I'm a little embarrassed about how gross my tooth looked before but had to share pictures on how gorgeous the filling came out. Thank you so much Dr. Park. I promise I'll floss more often

I've been coming to A+ Dental in San Pedro with Dr. Philip Park for years, and my family has been…read morecoming here using my dad's Longshoremen insurance. Because we've been patients here for years, this recent experience with the front desk was extremely disappointing. My original appointment was scheduled for Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00 AM. On Thursday, August 6, the office called me and asked if I wanted to move my appointment to Friday, August 7 at 10:00 AM. I agreed, but later that evening my kids reminded me that they had something going on at school that Friday morning. I called the office as soon as they opened to let them know I couldn't make the newly moved appointment and asked to keep my original appointment date. I was then told I would have to pay a $50 same-day cancellation fee. I was confused because my original appointment was not that Friday--the office had contacted me and asked me to move it up to Friday. I understood that I had agreed to the change, but I didn't feel it was fair to be charged a same-day cancellation fee when the appointment had originally been scheduled for the following Wednesday. Despite this, I called again on August 19 to schedule my cleaning. I was given an appointment for Monday, August 31 at 12:00 PM. I was again told about the $50 fee and was told I could speak with Dr. Park about it when I came in. I agreed. I drove approximately 45 minutes from Anaheim to San Pedro for this appointment, only to arrive and be told there was no appointment for me on the schedule. After checking my information, the front desk staff member told me that I had never actually been scheduled because I didn't want to pay the $50 cancellation fee. This was extremely frustrating because my understanding from our conversation was that I WAS being scheduled for that date and time and could discuss the fee with Dr. Park when I came in. What makes this even more disappointing is that I made a 90-minute round trip, spent money on gas, and rearranged my day based on what I was told by the office. If I was not actually going to be scheduled, that should have been clearly communicated to me when I called. I understand that dental offices have cancellation policies, but there also needs to be clear communication and good customer service. Patients should not have to drive nearly an hour each way only to arrive and find out they were never actually scheduled. After being a patient here for years and coming here through my dad's Longshoremen insurance, I expected much better communication and customer service. I hope management addresses this because this experience was extremely frustrating and could have easily been avoided with proper communication.

Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk was very disappointing. I was asked to move my appointment from 3:45 to 3:00. I accommodated the change and arrived early, only to be told that my appointment would actually be around 3:30 or later because another patient's appointment couldn't be changed. Had I known that, I would have taken the opportunity to eat before coming, especially since I was there because I was in pain. When I expressed my frustration, instead of feeling heard, I was asked, "Do you want me to cry?" The staff member then pretended to cry. I found that response unprofessional and inappropriate, particularly toward a patient who was already in discomfort. I do want to recognize the office manager, who stepped in, listened respectfully, and sincerely apologized. She handled the situation professionally and helped de-escalate it. I also requested copies of my X-rays but only received photographs rather than the actual X-ray images. The clinical care I received was good , which is why this interaction at the front desk was so disappointing. I hope this feedback helps improve the patient experience.

A note about the office: it feels like the best of the 1980s. The music playing in the background, the historic design of the office itself (which is probably more of a 1960s design), down to the tables and chairs in the waiting room. Very cool.
