NC Water Heaters - NCWaterHeaters.com Raleigh NC Plumbing Home Remodels Kitchen and Bath

    NC Water Heaters

We hired NC Water Heaters / NC Home Remodeling to do a number of electrical, plumbing, and…read morecarpentry repairs on our house and it has been an extremely frustrating process to deal with them. Overall we had a number of issues with the quality of work and felt that we were overcharged when we saw the final product of what they did. It was not all bad, and specifically we felt that the electrician they sent was very helpful and did a great job. However, the problems that we had completely soured our opinions of NC Home Remodeling and we would not recommend them to anyone. The first issue was that they did an extremely sloppy job filling in the grout on our brick steps to the point that they had to send out people multiple times to try and clean up the job. We were told that the worker who messed up the job was let go which made us question why inexperienced people were being sent out to do jobs that they didn't know how to do. Additionally, when installing a new toilet, we realized after the job was done that the toilet that was installed was too big and no longer allowed the bathroom door to close. I don't know how the plumber missed this, but we had to get them back out to switch the toilets around. We also had them quote installing a railing in our attic, which they originally quoted at $850.00. When we saw the final product all they had done was drill a 2x4 to the wall and attach a piece of lattice to the side of the steps. The cost of materials must have been less than $50, taken less than an hour to install, and looks extremely amateurish. I have pictures attached, it looks terrible, the 2x4 isn't even sanded, doesn't go the full length of the stairs, and is nothing like what we expected. I emailed them about it and they said that they decided to go a different route from the original estimate and dropped the price to $400.00. I don't know if they would have dropped the price if we hadn't said anything, but if I had known this was the level of carpentry they were going to do I would have just done it myself. There were several other things we had to go back and forth on to make sure the work was actually done which just made it an exhausting process. We were billed $800.00 for a painter who was at the house for 1 hour and didn't paint two of the areas he was supposed to do, so they only dropped it down to $650.00 only after we pressed them on it. They also billed $250.00 for gutter cleaning which was never done, so we had to point that out and get them to take it off the invoice. I know that this company is mainly a water heaters company and I am guessing that they branched out to home remodeling because there is a high demand for the work, but it seems like they overextended themselves and do not have people who know what they are doing in this field. We will not work with them again and I would suggest that you look elsewhere for home remodeling work.

Less than impressed. NC Water Heaters was hired to complete a few minor repairs after a home…read moreinspection. Their employee did a great job in resealing a toilet. The same employee installed a drain pan under my washer. That employee left a large dent in the front of the washer and somehow damaged the rods inside. I had to hire an appliance repair company to fix the washer (almost $300). NC Water Heaters did deduct this from my bill. They evaluated a light switch that was noted in the inspection report. This 5 minutes cost me $85 even though the employee did nothing!

The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. Today's visit is why I'll keep doing business with them.

Upon unscrewing the metal hose, it immediately retracted into the curved faucet -- slid through the tube and caught at the end of the pipe under the sink. I was able to feed it back up through the curved faucet, and could see the end of the metal hose up near the top side but was unable to pinch the edge of the hose and pull it through. I worked at it for a couple of hours -- trying and hoping that I could fix it -- but finally threw in the towel. Professional help was needed. Melvin answered my phone call at 8:30 am while on his way to an already scheduled service call. Hearing that we had guests who had just arrived the night before, he agreed to try and make it by our house that afternoon. Melvin was able to come by that afternoon, reconnect the water line, identify the part number of the faucet head, connect with the company's customer service department to determine the replacement part. Melvin is knowledgeable, patient, fair and kind. He goes the extra mile in providing plumbing service. Unbeatable!

I didn't have a second thought about who to contact and sent a request through to J Plumbing Service and arranged for a time for Melvin to come out to install. It was too late to find anyone who wasn't already booked after hours so had to start calling the next morning and that wasn't going well. A friend suggested I call this service and thankfully they had one appt left! They ended up coming a bit earlier, which worked out great! Of course once we turned the water back on the leak didn't happen for the plumber, but that's ok, where it was leaking all the connections were wrong and needed to be updated. He even put new valves on as ours were so old they wouldn't turn anymore. While he was here I had him look at a toilet that had been seeping all around the base. He had time to pull it and using shims leveled it due to the concrete floor not being level that was causing it to move constantly. Also had him check another thing that we'd been putting off, replacing the pressure valve and what a difference a new one made! Plus he moved up the main shut off on that pipe to a more accessible place on the pipe. We have another project for a later date that he was able to look at and will send an estimate. Then I think we'll be doing great in this old house. Big thanks to Eric and his helper Alex for their fine work and willingness to fit in the other things that needed attention.
