Dana and Funerals Your Way is excellent to work with. He saved us over $2K from what the local mortuary was going to charge us and the services were just as good. In our case we already had a burial site at a local cemetery purchased. Because the grave site was there initially they told me I needed to work with them. But after speaking with Dana I learned we could by-pass the mortuary part of that local business. The only recommendation I have for you who are just getting started with this process is to warn you that there are additional burial charges that are significant. I got confused because we paid Funerals Your Way, but then found out the cemetery also had additional fees to bury the casket. This was a mistake on my part because I didn't realize even though you are at the same location they split out the mortuary fees and the burial fees. You are stuck paying the local cemetery fees. But this does not change the fact the mortuary fees were several thousand dollars less with Funerals Your Way. This is a disgusting industry as most of the cemetery's are owned by the same company and they have more or less a monopoly. Using Funerals Your Way cuts into the monopoly a little bit. These companies grossly overcharge for every service and also charge for things they don't even do. For example, the cemetery charged us to dig the hole for the casket AND they also charge another fee to dig the hole for the cement casket liner. But they only dug one hole and they put the liner on top of the casket and then filled in the hole. One hole dug, but blatantly over-charged for digging a hole for the cement liner. I am giving you this info because you still must deal with the cemetery for their fees and they are very kind and nice people, but they will absolutely overcharge you for the burial services. Again, we can't change that part of the equation, but everyone can at least cut the mortuary out from the major overcharges they hand out if you use Funerals Your Way. read more

There's not much to say about these things. It's not something you typically review and you don't want to deal with this....it's not fun. That being sad, Funerals Your Way was recommended by my mother's hospice. They were right. Dana was easy to deal with and made it real simple. I didn't need anything fancy or complicated. I just wanted to deal with the logistics of laying my mother to rest and get back to my family and our grieving. Dana was great. He was open to talk if I wanted to, but didn't make me talk more than I wanted. He didn't keep on the phone longer than I wanted. He didn't try to upsell me. My mother died suddenly and I called at 930am. He coordinated picking up my mother's body from the home. His guys were on time, even apologizing ahead of time that it was going to take them more than an hour from the time I called due to the holiday weekend. They were respectful, and went the extra bit to make sure my mother being taken out of her condo building was quick and private. I mean they went out and made sure no one was in the halls and commandeered an elevator before removing her from her residence. Sounds minor, but that was HUGE to my mother's wishes. From there Dana met us to go over paperwork. He coordinated fully with my mom's doctors and literally I had to do nothing but sign for the cremation, and come back and pick her up. No headaches, no extra charges or annoyance to me. You never know "what" to look for in a mortuary. I would say just call Dana and don't make it a harder thing than it has to be.
