This place Funasia needs big time renovation to change of their worn out seats in particular. Bathrooms needs to be cleaned regularly, smells bad. It is the only place for Indian diaspora to get movie entertainment and use of banquet halls. The movie theater did not have much people like previous visit and inside needs some attention for cleanliness and upgrades. They need to upgrade better and comfortable seats and pay attention to maintenance and upgrades. The food was pretty good. So, while I'm not the biggest fan of this neighborhood, I really do love this movie theater! There aren't many places that show foreign films, much less those in Indian languages. I highly recommend it if you want to watch foreign films as soon as the come out. The theater isn't always super clean, but it's definitely a fun unique night out. It just gets way too messy right after a show - so I really recommend going to a lot of the shows after the very first one. However, if you make the first show of the night, it's quite enjoyable. Also a heads up, if you aren't familiar with Indian films, they do last at least 3-4 hours. Plus, most theaters have at least a 30 minute intermission so don't forget to account for that if you're planning other events that night. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER - DON'T GO 1. At Richardson location, They forget the password for the projector, I mean come on, get your act together. 2. No Video, Only Audio. It's called a MOVIE, you are suppose to WATCH it too. 3. They give us re-admit passes to use it within 15 days AT ANY OF THE 3 LOCATIONS. Guess what, we go to the Irving location the next day and sat there for 30 minutes and then we are told that we can only use those stubs at the Richardson location. 4. Now, I am too pissed to watch anything and I want my refund, but I have to go to Richardson location to get my money, because obviously according to them I have nothing better to do. 5. As for the movie theater, if this was a theater dedicated to American movies, it would be among the worst. But its not. This place has worked hard, with very limited revenue streams (given the number of Desis in Dallas who will go to a theater) to keep this place running. Sure its not nice, but the choices to watch these movies on the big screen are so very limited, that I'd rather have this then nothing at all. I just enjoy coming here during their buy 1 get 1 free movie deals. They have changed them seats since they first opened. They are very comfortable now. Red leather and can move back so you can relax while watching a long Indian movie lol. The only bad about that if you sitting behind someone who's leaning way back that can bother you. It's my first time here, I came here after learning about their 1 +1 ticket offer on a Wednesday but the management declared it a holiday and charged for both the tickets. It's awesome seeing Indian films on the big screen instead of my laptop but this place made me want to take a shower after I left. It was so dark in the theater, I felt like I had stepped into one of those xxx film places. I became more apprehensive when my date said to check the seat before I sat down. People could definitely get away with doing sexual acts in these seats since they have it pitch black in there. The theatre is dirty & unkept. The bathrooms were nice and clean. I will still keep going to this theater, (there being almost no other options to watch Hindi films on the big screen in Dallas), but be prepared for the following: 1 Movies which are advertised as 'Sub-titled in English', but in fact are not. This has happened three times, including for the currently running 'Ghanchakkar'. Talk about pulling your kids in to see an Indian movie, of which they are hesitant anyway, and then pulling them right back out after five minutes. 2 Employees lying about why this misleading advertising occurs. 3 Employees smirking at you when asked about the name of the manager and lying about his name too. 4 If the attendance for a movie is very low (usually the case after the first week), be prepared for the guy in the projector room to completely skip the interval.. no restroom break for the viewer.. sorry ! 5 Fried food where the cooking oil has been used..and reused..and reused.. 6 And something about which I'm finally going to write to the City of Richardson about, after complaining for years about it: dirty restrooms, filthy floor in the theater room, and a non-functioning water fountain. -- Robin B read more

I was a little shock as I walked in to a movie theater to attend a friends wedding. My daughter even said something and she is 7. The reception hall was very nice. Decor was nice! I would throw a party hear if I lived in Dallas area. The popcorn is good. Kids got a little hungry before the wedding and the snack bar came in handy. Bathrooms were clean. Best place to watch Indian Movies. Movies are released on Fridays and if you happen to go the first weekend, be prepared to sit right in the front if you don't get there early enough. Wednesdays they offer "Two for the price of One" special. They also serve typical snack items like Samosas, Pakoras and Chaat items, which has to be a part of "desi" movie watching experience :-) They do lack a bit on cleanliness of the theater, seats and the toilets. read more

Had very Bad experience. Though we had booked tickets, we didn't get place to sit in the hall.. what the hell !! And the movie started before the show time..! There were other people (around 30-40) also standing who had not got place to sit. They started arranging for chairs from outside and the movie show is going on... will anyone enjoy movie this way!!! A (superawesome) friend of mine had to come here for a music appreciation assignment, and he invited me along. I was pumped for the experience, and even moreso after reading all the horrible reviews online. An experience it will be, I told myself (and him, many times). I didn't think it was terrible; it was decent, especially considering that they surely don't have the budget that theaters from national chains like Cinemark would have. The theater looks nice on the outside, the seats were comfy enough, the tickets were not "ridiculous"ly priced to me ($5, $8 depending on what you're seeing and when; if anything, I think mainstream movie theaters rob you on their prices). We went on a weekday evening, and there certainly wasn't a crowd. The majority of the people viewing our movie were probably from my friend's class. My one personal complaint: while it wasn't hot in there, it did feel like there was no circulating air. When we arrived, there was no one in the ticket booth outside, and after waiting a bit we went inside and turned in circles a few times trying to figure out what to do while the ticket taker stared at us. The 3 dishes of food did look a bit stale (the concession area was cash only, so I didn't get to try anything), but their prices on everything didn't seem too bad. Less than or comparable to a mainstream theater, but I can't speak to the quality. They had banquet rooms, and the FunAsia radio station broadcasts out of there, so this building seems pretty all-encompassing. Prior to the previews, they show advertisements from local businesses (sponsors?) and events, too, which was neat to me. A full experience. Note: Hindi movies tend to run longer than American movies, and they have a short intermission. Luckily ours (a romantic comedy) was only 2 hours and some change. Not sure if all of their movies are subtitled, plus showings are limited, so check online first. Lastly, they have some ticket specials for Wednesdays (buy 1 get 1 free) and their scant matinee showings (everyone pays kids price tickets for showings before or at 5 p.m.). So glad I got the cultural experience, but not sure I'd end up going back. If someone else were interested, sure. read more

most deserted movie theater ever. the seats are ripping, not very clean. super low staff, one lady was running the movie, adjusting lights in the theater and taking orders, she was taking her sweet time to do it all. I got a papri chat with no Chana and a water for $11, when I asked her there was no Chana in it, she said she is out, well why didn't to tell me earlie, I would've ordered something else. she burned my samosa, and I missed the beginning of the movie because she was super slow and didn't care about me missing the movie. I love watching Indian movies. So tried this Indian theater. Stay away. Horrible customer service. Seems like a jungle. Sticky floors, people sitting on the stairs. AC not working in 100 F Dallas summer. Bad audio. I tried to find a manager to complain, no one was there. Finally found someone who indicated he was the manager. Was clueless in customer service. We help plan a quincenera and picked FunAsia for the event hall. We couldnt have been more pleased with the results. The food was fantastic! We selected the Mexican Buffet and it came with all the trimmings including an enormous fruit platter for 250 people. The wait staff catered to our every need. The salon was beautiful The price was "extremely" reasonable. We will recommend FunAsiA to all of our clients. I did not attend a movie or listen to the radio station. We recently went to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan concert for which tickets were sold by Funasia. We bought tickets online the day of the concert and payed $60, as they claimed that $40 tickets were sold out. However it didn't look true at all when we reached the auditorium, there were empty seats in last couple of rows. And one of our friends bought tickets an hour later than us and payed $80 as it was claimed that cheaper ones were sold out. And it so happens that there were no people sitting in our price category behind us, so clearly it was not sold out. And they didn't start concert on time, it was actually 1 and a half hour late, very unprofessional. Not a very good experience. read more

While booking the tickets online, it said transaction denied, but it had already charged my credit card when I checked my bank . I couldn't find any option in their customer hotline to speak to a person. It just announced the timings of the movies and then went on into a loop. Worst service ever...!
