Decent Indian movie theater. Attracts most of the Indian crowd. Upside: Lots of screens. Cheap tickets. Downside: Bad seating. Bad sound system (My home stereo system is better than this). They could put some more variety in food. Average movie watching experience. There are better ones out there.

New management does not care about customers. Our guests were left without food. The management refused to help. They left us on our own.

We didn't want to make a big deal of it so we shifted over to the next few seats, but then a group arrived and let us know that those were their assigned seats. So we got up and moved to the top row, where all of the seats were broken. Recliner didn't work nor did the button to notify the staff. Throughout the movie there was a loud disturbing banging behind us. Also the service was extremely slow. It took an hour to receive my food and when I did, this was the presentation and the food was cold. The brisket was sparse and the tots barely had barbecue sauce. The bathrooms were filthy. Trash everywhere and the stalls had fluids on the wall. It was very uncomfortable. My friend and I went to speak to the manager, Miguel, who did not accept any accountability for the quality of the service and the overall experience. He repeatedly mentioned that we could've gotten up and gotten a staff member for our issues. Why should we as guests get up in the middle of the movie several times to tell the staff how to do their job? Piss poor service. I do not recommend this theater and won't be back.

We had ordered the tickets in advance and you pre-select your seats. We ordered popcorn before the show. The lady at the concession stand was very nice and she provided extra bowls so it was easy to share the popcorn. The popcorn was delicious! Sadly, a few of our reclining seats did not recline. We probably could have moved since there was an abundance of empty seats. There couldn't have been more than 10 other patrons at our showing. We decided to just stay in our pre-selected seats. The restrooms were deplorable! In all, we enjoyed the movie and our time together, but this theater is in desperate need of renovations.

I visited this location of Alamo Drafthouse last weekend for The Substance Movie Party (if you…read morehaven't been to an Alamo Drafthouse movie party, run don't walk...) and had a pretty good time. I left Texas about a decade ago, and - I'm not exaggerating here - people get annoyed by how often I say I miss Texas's movie theaters and grocery stores. The first Alamo Drafthouse was opened in downtown Austin in 1997, but it quickly made a name for itself (more on that below) and expanded around Austin before expanding to other other Texas cities and then outside Texas. It now has 40 locations! So why is Alamo Drafthouse so great? Even from the first location, the theater offered unique programming alongside traditional movie viewing: silent movies scored by local bands as accompaniment, movies served with special menus themed to the film, retrospectives, and more. Also from the beginning, they offered the ability to order food and drink inside the theater, something that not that many theaters were doing at the time. It remains a unique movie theater experience, even as it's been extremely influential nationwide. I can't remember when I saw my first movie at an Alamo Drafthouse (was it when I lived in Austin in 2007-2008 or 2014-2015?!), but after I went for the first time I was hooked. I've seen singalongs (Moulin Rouge), rowdy screenings (Magic Mike XXL), old movies paired with classic cocktails (it was an ongoing series at the Ritz location on Mondays, I think - it's been so long!), and more. I visited this location (how I wish it had been here when I was kid growing up in Lake Highlands) for the first time with my family last weekend. It has some of the great things that most Alamo Drafthouse locations have, but there were a couple of detractors that made me like it a bit less than other locations. First of all - god, it was hot. I was fanning myself with my Monstro Eliasue that was one of our souvenirs for the movie party. I know some people don't like to be cold, but this theater was entirely too warm (my brother who sees movies often at this theater said that's standard for this location). I also found the customer service to be less friendly at this location than others I've been to in the past (no hello when we walked in even though two employees in the entry looked right at us as we entered). Is it my favorite Alamo Drafthouse location? No. If I still lived in Dallas, would I be here on a regular basis? Yes. Alamo Drafthouse is a treasure. I hope it's always around.

Inside are two screens, both quite sizeable, with ample seating. From what I understand, this theater is not open year-round. It opens during summer blockbuster season, and when highly anticipated movies come about. I suppose that's why when we showed up, the guy thought we were there to see the new Mission Impossible movie. We were actually there to see The Muppets. When we got there, I was feeling a mixture of both excitement, and nerves. I looked around, and it looked like the Movie Theater That Time Forgot. The concession stand was dimly lit and looked like it hadn't been used in ages. There were movie posters rolled up in a corner, the marquees still used removable letters...it was OLD SCHOOL. The theater is owned/operated by an Indian man, who was the only person running everything. He was the concession stand clerk, box office clerk, and projectionist. Tickets are the cheapest anywhere for new flicks. $5 for adults, $3 for kids, all the time. The movie-watching experience was pretty nice...although about 2/3 of the way through the movie, the sound had some hiccups, which the man explained was due to the way he had everything set up. He apologized for that, and we didn't really mind, since he was so incredibly nice to us. He also REALLY loves and is proud of his surround sound, which he gave us a demo of (we watched a 20 minute segment from XXX, and the explosions, car crashes, ect. sounded really great), and he was really anxious to show it to us the entire night. I have to give him credit...he may not be running a sparkling, shiny new theater, but I liked his enthusiasm for what he did have to offer, and sometimes, that's all you really need. We will most definitely be back for an action flick to make use of his sound system.
