They have sites for all types of campers, including on the water. The price is very fair and they sell wood/ice as well. The office is connected to a nice little game room with ping pong, pool, books, puzzles, and toys for children. The people here are very nice and even lent my young neice a life jacket so she could go out on the boat. All in all a great time. Camp here!

The site we stayed on (113) is the only transient site with a view that isn't on a busy road. It's super rocky and the water spigot flows into the only area flat enough to pitch a tent, but the view and proximity to attractions made it worth it. (FYI the "beach" is minuscule and always crowded.) The price was reasonable, and the people were friendly, so we rebooked for next year. After paying our deposit and securing the same site for next year we ordered a custom base for our tent to elevate it off the rocks and protect it from the water flow. Three days after it shipped, Paugus Bay Campground called to cancel our reservation with some story about dates shifting because of Bike Week, but when we agreed to take whatever dates were available they admitted they were giving our reservation to people who've been staying there longer and that we wouldn't be getting that site again. I understand taking care of your regulars, but they took the reservation and our deposit. Now we're out $800 for equipment we ordered specifically for this site, and when I tried to explain that Sue (?) nastily told me "That's not our problem." It disgusting that there were no cancellations allowed for my friend, but that my reservation is meaningless and I was essentially told to go f**k myself. I'm sure it's lovely to stay here if you've been doing so for decades, but there is no hospitality here for newcomers.

Our room was large and has three beds. This was perfect for me and my two teenagers. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. There is no breakfast. They have coffee and granola bars available for free. The carpets were dated. The hallways were dark. Reminded us of The Shining. The hot tub was very small. One of the lights had fallen out of the pool and was laying on the bottom of the deep end. We only paid $139 per night. Off season prices. We would stay here again. They have updated the rooms a bit over the years, but they still have the charm of nice New England motel. I've been staying at the Lamplighter for over 20 years when up in New London, NH. Rooms are clean, practically spotless, and rooms have nice amenities including a flat screen TV with dish network connection, as well as a fridge/freezer. I guess the only negative I found is road noise as the motel is right on the main road through town. Its not a negative as its a small town, but if you like to sleep in, it can be a little noisy. Television should drown it out just fine, but a pair of earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Give this place a shot, I'll be staying here each and every visit to New London, NH!

Returned the boat 30+/- 4 mins after the projected return time (there was a 40-minute-long storm we had to wait for as we had an infant sleeping and we didn't want to soak her) and management attempted to extort another 25%. Claimed he had to pay staff late to wait for us. We were amenable and assumed he closed at 5p? We checked the Marina hours after we left and found they didn't close until 6p and there was another boat pulling up/fueling as we were walking to the car. There was no written warning of extortion for being 20-30 minutes late in the contract. Not even a mention of a late fee. I think in most States this would be considered fraud and extorsion. Management invited us to sue him to get refund our extorted balance. I questioned whether he really wanted to invite a law suit over such a small amount and he disconnected the call.
