We have an awkwardly nervous, and crazy rescue dog, that I'm POSITIVE somehow has doggy PTSD. He…read morealso has some sort of ADHD, which makes it impossible to get him to pay attention, or get his focus on one specific thing like dinner or late night potty trips. He also has a hard time with strangers, so we were resigned to think we would never get away from the house due to his issues. Once we were forced to look into dog-sitting for an event we were required to attend, we realized finding someone to look after him was imperative. After emailing back and forth with Crissy, we set up a time for them to meet at our house, to see how they got along. Carson was his typical shakey, barking self, but Crissy's easygoing nature made his nerves settle down and he eventually took to her quite enthusiastically. Crissy has dog-sat for us on multiple occasions, on day trips and weekend overnights, and every time we returned, we came back to a happy dog, and a safe house. I feel confident leaving our lil guy in her capable hands, and will continue to do so. I highly recommend her to anyone with pets, and especially people with pets who have special needs, are old or injured, or have issues that put them out of the possibility of putting their lil friend in a kennel. Prices are reasonable, with prices by the hour, or by event, such as a one hour visit being $28, or an overnight with a mid day walk being $68. Absolutely worth it, Crissy is talented and wonderful, and will remain with our family for as long as possible.

Immediately my cousin told me that this was the best school for dogs in the area. She was right that is for sure! My husband and I started taking our puppy to Rhodes Collar immediately and worked with Michelle on dog obedience skills in both private lessons and group classes. Curtis was able to get involved in a group class entitled Good Citizen Skills. He passed the class thanks to the excellent training from Michelle and owner Glenna and there continued patience with us as new owners of Curtis. We are still taking classes with Michelle and working on more advanced skills now, we really enjoy the classes. The staff are all amazing, Linda helps Curtis with the after school program, she is incredible, Maureen is amazing and helps with so many areas of running the school, Rileigh is also amazing and helps us when we need to board Curtis though Custom Care. We feel 100% confident that our puppy is safe and treated well when we go away, we get pictures and videos of everything he does at school like report cards or when boarding at a staff's home. Staff are always available in a on text and honestly this school is so amazing that my husband and I agree we are better dog owners since going to Rhodes Collar, we plan to be long time customers and are forever grateful to them. Many thanks Rhodes Collar for all you do.

I'm sorry. I hate to write bad reviews - I really do. But I just have to say something. We recently…read morehad our dog stay here over a weekend and we will never come again. Our usual place was booked, so I was relieved to find another kennel in the area. Without many photos online, we took our chances. Will was friendly enough. When we checked in he apologized for the "mess" but the property felt dirty and unsanitary. Obviously it's a dog kennel, so I'm not expecting it to be spotless. But it felt filthy. When I came to pick up my dog, I arrived at the agreed upon time, only to find the building locked and dark inside. I had to call the owner to come, which took several minutes. When he opened the door to the kennel, he put on earphones (the dogs were barking THAT loudly) and turned on the light. There was at least a dozen dogs in their individual kennels, left in the dark? The owner couldn't recall which dog was mine, which felt like a huge red flag to me. I also thought it was crazy that you had to pay extra for play time. What did you do with the dogs who don't pay for that? How often are they let outside? It wasn't clear to me. Once we finally got out of there, I brought my dog home. It wasn't until I let her out of the car that I realized she clearly had a bad case of diarrhea over the weekend. Her rear was stained bright yellow, with feces clinging to her fur. It almost appeared like she had been sitting in it all weekend. Regardless, I wish the kennel owner would have given me a heads up with a proper "recap" of the weekend and how my dog did. Instead, we were rushed out there because he had somewhere else to be. We board our dog all the time at various kennels, including on our cross-country move earlier this summer. We always provide her food (she has a grain allergy), and she's never had a case of diarrhea this bad before. I'm not sure what caused it, if there was added stress or strain in any way? But the fact that we weren't properly informed, I just didn't appreciate it. That, combined with the dirty property, just left me feeling disgusting. I might be crazy, but these are not conditions I expect from a dog boarder.

I checked in with Bill twice during our trip and the response was "he is doing well". When we picked him up he had what Bill called a "hotspot" on his head. Looked like a painful sore. I was told it was not big deal and just to put Neosporin on it. I paid for a bath upon pick up but our dog was still wet. Bill said it's because we picked him up in the morning. Hotspots need to be kept dry so I didn't like that our dog was wet. When we got him home I noticed two spots on his paws. I ended up taking him to the vet and have been cleaning his hotspots and applying antibacterial cream. The vet was surprised that the kennel owner played off the hotspot as no big deal. She had to shave Nemo's head and the sore spots on each paw. The kennel is messy. When I dropped my dog off I was told that the mess would be cleaned up. It looked the same as when I dropped him off two weeks prior. When I paid Bill and I were chatting about Nemo's one on one time (I paid extra for that). He said he doesn't usually like golden retriever's. I thought that was an unprofessional thing to say to an owner of a golden retriever. Needless to say Nemo is not returning.

One groomer washes, drys, and cuts your dog from start to finish with care and they call you with updates or to let you know they're almost done. I booked…read morewhat their website describes as the "Bath&Trim- Bath, ears, nails, glands, trim around the potty area, feet & face." When I arrived for her appointment, I read this directly to the staff member/groomer from their website, and she confirmed that my appointment included all as mentioned. We agreed my dog did not need her facial hair trimmed, but I specifically pointed out the overgrown fur on her paw pads to be done and asked if "feet" included that, and she said it did. She said the package was $59, and it was cash or check only -- which would have been useful to know when I booked the appointment. It was a stressful ordeal to get cash from the bank before they closed. The groomer also informed me at that time that although my appt was for noon, it would be 2-3 hours before they would call me to pick her up. (It took 2 hours 45 mins.) When I picked up my pup, the fur on her feet area had not been trimmed at all. Instead, inexplicably, her entire stomach area had been trimmed back (no where near her groin), which was clearly not part of the package. Her toenails had been haphazardly chopped and left jagged, so I had to use a metal nail file to smooth them out when we got home. They also did not trim her right or left dew claws at all. Also, the following day, it became clear that the shop had not expressed her anal glands as advertised, as she leaked from them. (We've been having an issue lately in which her glands are not expressing with her bowel movements, so every two weeks we've had to bring her to the vet to have them manually expressed. We're trying to figure out if it's caused by a food allergy issue. This visit at the groomer was on day 10 since her last vet expression. If the groomer had expressed her glands, she would not have had another episode for at least an additional 10-14 days because it would have taken some time for her glands to fill up again.) Finally, when I picked up my pup, she didn't really seem herself. Almost like she was high, like she had been given something? Perhaps? Normally she hates if I do anything to her toes at all, but when I filed them at home afterward, she just stayed there in a daze. She proceeded to snub me for a whole day. I don't know what she experienced at this shop, but she was not happy, and that's not really normal for her. She's a very sociable, upbeat dog normally. All told, I paid $59, plus $10 tip, for a package that was supposed to include six services, but that in actuality only included 3.5 (half for the jagged toes). I tipped on the spot out of anxiety & self-consciousness. I do have regrets. I gave 2 stars because the bath & dry was well done, and the staff were friendly and polite to me during drop off and pick up. However, I would not return to this groomer or recommend their services.
