Fun Hog Ranch, Las Vegas: Down home dive. Bit of Leather & bit of Bear.
    Gary I.

Fun Hog Ranch looks like a Southern roadhouse in Louisiana instead of being way off of the Las Vegas Strip. It's a dive, but in a good way. Enough widescreen TV's to entertain you with music videos and sports if the bar-t is in the mood.  Lots of men who look and act blue collar although they may be professionals in "real life". In old school terminology FHR may be called a Levi cruise bar. This place may be the closest as you're going to get to a leather or Bear bar in Las Vegas.  On their website, there seems to be a "Leather Night" on the first Saturday of every month where leather, uniforms, rubber is the theme night  Anyway, it's a down home man's bar where you can come as you are. Looks like a man cave without any pretensions. Bartenders are friendly as well as many of the customers.  4 stars for what you see is what you get.  PS Be ready for acrid cigarette smoke in your eyes and on your clothes and hair.

I had a blast, even though the front bar was really the only section open on a Wednesday night. I arrived around 10:45pm and there was no cover. I didn't have cash but they were able to run your card every transaction. No tabs. Service was friendly, a little slow once it got crowded. In the club, for the first hour there was a small crowd there, and then it picked up the later it got. It was still a fun time. The music was jammin, go go boys were great, and it had a fun atmosphere. I had a conversation with a local who explained the layout of the full nightclub and the different sections. I would go back for sure and would love to see the rest of it. Not much of a nightclub person, that was more my late 20's, but I am glad I went and folks of all ages.

The overall vibe is one of its strongest qualities -- lively, inclusive, and perfect for a night out in Las Vegas. The entertainment is a standout. The drag performances are exceptionally well done, and it's always exciting to see talent from RuPaul's Drag Race make appearances. It adds a level of excitement and credibility to the shows that really sets the venue apart. The dancers and performers, both male and female, bring great energy and stage presence, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere the club is known for. Overall, Piranha is a go-to spot if you're looking for strong entertainment, great music, and an engaging crowd. I've had a great time each visit and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable night out.

My friend had a table reserved for us, thank God cause I would have hated to had to stand all night. Our 2 other friends showed up late so once they came to the table (high top) it was a little crowded when you all want to eat & have drinks. Our waiter was Hunter. I know it was busy but the service wasn't the best. He forgot to bring me another drink that I ordered so my friend grabbed one at the bar for me. He also forgot to send out a large side of honey mustard sauce so I had to bug him for another one & then he forgot to order my onion rings. I did get those for free without even asking, thank you for that! We had to ask for our bill when we were ready to leave. He was able to give us separate checks which was nice. My friend said service is usually better with Hunter so I'll blame it on it being very busy. I got the chicken tenders which were sooooooo yummy! They came out HOT, had a nice, thin crispy coating to them & the chicken was very moist. It was served with fries which were very tasty too. The honey mustard sauce was very thin & I would have preferred it to be a little thick but it did the job. My friend had steak quesadilla & shared one with me. It wasn't bad & the meat wasn't dried out but I did get a couple of fat pieces in my bites that I had to set aside. Another friend got shrimp & let me try a piece. It wasn't bad but I would of liked a sauce to go with it & it was fishy smelling. The onion rings had absolutely no taste to them & the onions tasted watery. I wouldn't order these again. I'd love to try the Mac & cheese but you can't get a side of it & I didn't need two dinners...lol There were a lot of elderly people in the crowd & my friend did tell me that we would probably be the youngest ones in there which we actually weren't but it was nice to see the old folks get out of the house & enjoy themselves. Shelia put on a great performance & even had a guy come up (with mustache) who had an AMAZING voice, another older male & female who all sang with her. She changed her outfits a couple of times & even came around to say hi & thank the crowd. I'd definitely come back here & would love to check out their happy hour and have some more chicken tenders...writing this review has me craving them! lol Parking lot is small but it's in a shopping plaza with other stores. My friends had to park a little ways away from this bar.

The stars of the show were of course the drag queens!! They were AMAZING. The choreography was great, the song choices were more recent with Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, etc. There was one set where one of the divas did a very questionable multi-Asian dance (song was Japanese but garb was Chinese)? I did a lot of research on drag brunches in Vegas before landing on Gipsy and know I made the right decision. Why? Because not only was I entertained, I was drunk and full on the $65 (most strip brunches don't include unlimited mimosas and food by default). Of course $65 plus a lot of tipping but that's part of the fun. I'll be real. The food is just ok. They are stingy on bacon and sausage, likely because of the price. It was all adequate. Think free hotel breakfast. One egg dish, French toast, mediocre pastries, etc. The included mimosas are obviously cheap but they are included. They got the job done. There's a full bar to purchase higher quality drinks. Now to the rest... How fun. The Queens were top and the emcee really brought the crowd together. I loved the Beyonce and Lady Gaga parts. Acrobatics and serving... I cannot complain. I love drag as an art form and it's hard to see this caliber where I'm from. Well worth it. Also of note, very clean bathrooms. Nice natural light. Servers were pleasant. I had a great time!

Our favorite punk band, The Mormons, happened to be playing here which is what drew us in. Loved the atmosphere with dollar bills and some R rated photo strips hanging around the bar area along with various stickers & graffiti filling the rest of the space. Truly feels like a quintessential Vegas dive bar. Bartenders weren't overly friendly, just there to do their job, but they served beers / cocktails quickly. We had a few PBR's which were $5 each. Fellow patrons were really friendly. I even made a friend during the show! For anyone with sensitive ears, the speakers are LOUD, so be sure to bring your ear protection. I loved the loud music, but my husband was suffering a bit. As per a usual dive bar, it is also smoky inside. If cigarette smoke bothers you, snag a spot near the entrance since they leave the door open for fresh air. This was everything I expected from a dive bar with a small stage for cool bands. We'll be back!
