I adore Drai's. Always have, always will. This is my special place. Some of the best times of my life happened at Drai's. I fell in love with it years ago, the very first time I set foot in the place after going to practically every club in Vegas. The club is chic, done in a sexy art deco style I love. The people are, MOST of them, fun. The vibe is free and happy and ALIVE!
The music is the only music deserving of the name; HOUSE, of every kind in all its forms. DJ's Kris Nilsson and Chris Garcia are more talented than internationally known DJ's and nicer than most humans anywhere.
If I could change anything about Drai's, other than its so far away from me most of the time, it would be getting rid of that horrendous hip hop room which takes Drai's from the wonderful refuge from commercial clubs and crappy commercial music it once was, to sadly, only partly that. I HATE having people who know NOTHING about this music and the people who love it wondering around making faces at the music that is far to elevated for their feeble minds, getting their little bitty feelings hurt because people who love the music are actually there LISTENING and partying to the music and aren't impressed with their "I'm too much the shit for this music" attitude aren't thrilled to have these losers hit on them. I HATE that anyone who doesn't get the scene and the vibe of House will come to Drai's, see people lost in the music, being cool to each other because WE GET IT, having a blast and assume that everyone here is a crack head, a tweeker, or whatever. Newsflash, that shit is NOT what you want when you're surrounded by this amazing music and the people who love and understand it.
As far as it being expensive...sorry, if you think $20, $40, or whatever is too much to pay to be in a classy, sexy, world famous club, listening to world class Dj's better than any other anywhere, dancing the night away and having too much fun to know the night has long since passed and the memories will make you smile EVERY SINGLE TIME you remember it, then yeah, stay at the crap table or go to bed early. Save the money so you can hit the buffets or whatever other thing you think is a once in a lifetime like a night in the magical world that is my Drai's. I'll take Drai's over any kind of winning hand or crap shoot. The money, no matter how much it is, always comes and goes. Memories that steal your heart and take you away to that special place, that one moment in time when the world went away and you let yourself be free in the magic and music can NEVER be bought. If you think there is a price on that, then Drai's is not for you. You don't get it.
We go to Vegas to go to Drai's and I am miserable if I stay away too long. Drai's holds my memories, some of my favorite people and now very, very good friends are there. After having been there countless times, I still get the same thrill when I see those doors upstairs, when I start to go down the stairs. I know they will play my song, I'll see the familiar faces of the friends I've made there, sit in my favorite tableand remember all the magical nights that went before knowing I will remember this one too, never want it to end, and always, always wish I could go back in time to when I was there on a magical night that will tug at my heart until I am there again. read more
