I don't even think "Tricia" is a real person, unless she is just an employee of the property management company called SanDiegoVacation.com (their Internet reviews really suck) It's disrespectful and shameful that slumlords operate like this. I would include pictures for a few examples but she is blocking uploaded pictures (wonder why? Lol) Nobody on vacation expects or wants a rundown flop house to wake up to or come home to after a long day out sightseeing. It's not the housekeepers fault, they cleaned everything well, but the whole place is unkept and worn out. Of course, the trade off here is that ocean view from the back balcony and the sound of the waves. If this place ever gets rehabilitated, the rate will easily double. Enjoy the cheap view while you still can but be prepared for the worn out conditions. Almost everything is falling apart, corrosion all over, paint chipping, holes in wall, electrical panal in bedroom is exposed and rusty. Bathroom towels are very old and and disgusting. Nobody puts out something so bad for guests. Be warned, you've never stayed in such a dump. The cottage can accommodate up to six guests, but our stay was just for me, my wife, and our wheaten terrier. This review reflects our experience specifically as cottage guests, since those staying in RV spaces may have a very different experience. It was also our first visit to this RV resort, and we did not participate in many of the on-site activities. That said, we truly enjoyed our stay. The resort was very clean, the staff was welcoming and engaging with guests, and we appreciated how dog-friendly the property is. The location is also excellent -- conveniently close to the I-5 freeway, nearby walking and bicycling trails, downtown Chula Vista, and the newly built Gaylord Resort property less than half a mile to the south. While amenities such as the pickleball courts, swimming pool, hot tubs, and putting green looked inviting, we did not personally use them during this visit. We ate dinner at the on-site café both evenings, and every dish we ordered was reasonably priced, generously portioned, and served fresh and hot. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout. We tried the Baja Burger, Fish & Chips, Steak & Frites, Cheesesteak, crinkle-cut fries, pretzel buns, and churros -- all were delicious, and we would happily order them again without hesitation. Our bayside cottage was clean, well maintained, and offered beautiful views of the wildlife preserve between the resort and San Diego Bay. The two-bedroom layout provided more than enough space for us and our medium-sized dog. We especially enjoyed the fire pit, along with the covered first-level patio and uncovered second-level patio facing the bay. Although we didn't use the barbecue grill, it was spotless and clearly ready for guests to use for grilling steaks, burgers, hot dogs, or anything else they wished. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely consider returning for another local staycation.

The most frustrating part was that we called staff and were told that since quiet hours didn't start until 11:00 p.m., nothing could be done regardless of how loud it was. The party also appeared to include excessive underage drinking, which was concerning at a family resort. We came here expecting a fun, relaxing family vacation, not two nights of disrupted sleep. It's unfortunate because we enjoyed our first stay, but this experience definitely makes us think twice about returning.

We were so happy to stay at Blue Heron Cottages January and February of 2025 (our fourth or fifth…read moretime--we've lost count)! As always, we had a wonderful time traveling with our two pups. Austen and Dani were so accommodating and welcoming, and took care of all of our needs quickly and completely. Denise, the owner, is so quick to respond to any email communication, and so very helpful. Ocean Beach, fondly known as "OB" offers so much, from Sunset Cliffs, shopping, easy walking, and such beauty. We love finding dinner at the Wednesday evening Farmers' Market, walking two blocks to the ocean from our cottage, and shopping downtown on Newport Avenue. It's great, not to mention unusual, to have a safe and secure parking spot off street, but BHC offers just that. And 20-30 minutes away by car: San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Coronado Island, Torrey Pines, Shelter Island, Little Italy, Gaslamp District, and more. We have already booked for next year!

I was impressed with all the little extras like organic soap (made locally), luxurious shower with two different heads, reverse osmosis drinking water, free wi-fi and cable. It was also nice to get to do my laundry there (another freebie) while sitting in the hammock under an amazingly fragrant trumpet tree. It felt good to know that the owner of this property cares enough about the environment to install solar panels on this property. When was the last time you noticed solar panels on the local Marriott? The location to this place was so conveniently located to Balboa Park as well as South and North Park my girlfriend and I usually just rode our bikes. I can't wait for my return trip to San Diego because I will be definitely staying at the Eco Studio again. Thank you to the extremely hospitable Sean for making our San Diego stay so memorable!

PROS - Nice scenic views - Hospitable management - Great location - Cabana was an ideal area to congregate for our larger group - Wi-Fi - Secure location (Guard at entrance) - Pool (Pool guy comes and cleans it on request) CONS - Older furniture/decor - Taxi's/Uber drivers weren't familiar with how to get there - Hailing an Uber took 20+ minutes, where multiple Uber's would cancel on us because of our location - Grocery store / Restaurants are a fairly long walk to get to (20-30 minutes) - Spa wasn't functioning (Would drain completely when jets turned on) - Wi-Fi didn't reach the villas Shawn (manager) was great with communication and assisted us with all our needs. He did apologize for the spa and wi-fi. To his credit, we did not let him know about the wi-fi until after we left the place. He also mentioned he would work on the transportation issue we informed him about. All in all, it was we had a great experience and we would definitely book again!
