The theme is based on the tale of the flying trunk. The cocktails are delicious. We had the salted caramel star and the so flute. I loved the little pretzel star in the salted caramel. They also serve tapas food. They also serve tapas food. We had the pan fried gnocchi with artichokes, and the buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes. Mmm! The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The cocktails are $17 - $20. The tapas is under $15. We also had a lovely conversation with the owner evi about the design of the place. I'd love to come back again on my way home from workies :) Nothing much more I can add to what Karen F had commented, both Adam & Evi are great hosts. Very attentive and explained both the cocktails and food very well and enticed us into trying them. Enjoyable evening.

I have only been here for a wine and cocktail so far but this place really adds to the quirky little shops, bakeries and cafes that are popping up on KWR! Fast and friendly service, combined with some unique concoctions and names of cocktails means you will spend most of your time there deciding which cocktail you'll get when you next return. The Elephant Espress is on my list to try next time. If you are like my other half though and think cocktail is for cordial drinkers then never fear - the wine and beer list is for quoffers and swirlers alike. These guys take their booze seriously and I am definitely signing up for one of their monthly "tasting flight masterclasses" in the future.

No one ever says "I'll just quickly pop in for a wine" and no matter how hard you try you…read moredefinitely can't say that here. I would be happy if small wine bars were as prevalent as local deli in the CBD of Adelaide. This place is here to serve locals and regulars in a big way. Pop in Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm and end up crawling out at 10pm looking for some kind of fast food. This isn't the kind of bar you'd booze on at consciously, but after a carafe of wine between 2 in candle light with some scrummy truffle oil popcorn, it's too hard to say no to another carafe for $25-35 of incredibly sessionable sangiovese or tempranillo. Or if you want to get a true taster of all of the wines in the barrels then go for the tasting flight for $25 - great value. Service is good if you're a regular but, as Pablo M mentioned, if you're not then you don't feel quite cool enough to belong. If you don't let this bother you though then you'll enjoy the value, quality and general atmosphere of the place.

When the owner is around the place I have always feel very welcomed and the vibe is nice and relaxed with the service second to none. On the occasions when he isn't there (which has been the last 3) the service and out right attitude from one girl in particular has been down right rude, pushy and very unfriendly. I have taken work mates and friends in for a after work drink and its nice to see that they all get the same vibe and me. Once again the wine and snacks they have are amazing. Once they clean up the service and attitude ill be going a lot more! *****update****** it seems like they have cleaned up the issue with the service and I'm happy to report it's back on my top spots for a nice wine after work! There is a cool glass wine cellar where you can see lots of bottle of wine, there is a water feature that's cool, and you can sit on one side next to the lobby or at tables on the other side of the bar. Collins Cocktail heaven…read more The Collins will spoil you for all time -everywhere in the world (well maybe not the Traders Bar on the 33rd floor of the Sheraton sipping a Rose Lychee martini overlooking the Twin Towers in KL - are you green with cocktail envy?!) This is my special night out or even not so special night out starting point. The cocktails here are truly unique and now having collectively tried quite a few with partner and friends I can't find fault. (My personal favourite is the Violet Champagne Cocktail.) The setting is luxuriously decadent and seductive, the cocktails seduce even more and the alcoholic ambience is stupendous. A Sydney friend makes this her only must do whenever in Adelaide. Not that us Radelaideans need to compare ourselves in anyway - do we? I can't rave much more except to hint that whether it's Valentine's day, Birthday, Anniversary, Chinese New Year, Haven't Seen Old Friend's For Ages or you've just had a shitty week at work make a beeline for The Collins. Your efforts will be rewarded and the world will look beautiful again.

Everybody needs their local bottle shop and for me it's Arkaba Cellars…read more As part of the Arkaba Hotel complex on the corner of Glen Osmond and Fullarton Roads, the entrance to the bottle shop is on the Fullarton Road side. It's a drive through with three lanes, one of which is an express so no need to get out of the car. If you do take the time to get out and have a look around, they have a great selection of wines on offer. Look for the specials as prices often vary. I find them more reasonable with their prices than the Big W bottle shop and usually manage to pick up a bargain or two ... or three ... or seventeen. There's always someone there to offer advice if you need a hand and on the odd occasion they have tastings. The last tasting I was lucky enough to experience was a guy selling his local champagne (or sparkling white as I think we're now supposed to call it). Having just brushed my teeth (you know how bad champagne and toothpaste tastes) and on my way out for the night I wasn't in the mood for a taste so politely declined his offer. As I was buying champers anyway, he gave me a bottle of his product to try at my leisure. Great marketing. It worked on me and is one of the reasons I go back there regularly. They're open 7 days a week from 9 in the morning and stay open until 'late' night.

The wine selection is quite impressive, bit tricky if you're not sure what you want and there are 30 different labels to choose from in one grape variety; this is when I call on the friendly person behind the counter to help me. Spirits aren't too pricey here either which is always a bonus if you're going to a birthday party and suddenly realise you haven't bought a present, liquor is a fantastic option, unless it's a childs birthday of course. Just clarifying. On the corner of Fullarton & Glen Osmond, cheap and easy, just the way I like em.

If you are looking for a classy cocktail bar in a beautiful old building with lovely décor, this place has the goods. The interior decoration is unusual, but cool. Kind of a upmarket eclectic feel. Large arm chairs and vintage furniture, while having a modern touch and a weird seated area with a wall of stings. Kind of hard to explain. Nonetheless, it is also about the drinks. Great selection of spirits and cocktails. Extensive menu, you will struggle to choose. The cocktails are well priced and do use good quality spirits in the mixes. The bar staff are attentive and there is complete waiter service here. So, find a seat and they will look after you. The cocktails are really lovely, I had a Pink Grapefruit and Tequila cocktail. Very fresh and tasty. The rim of the glass was rolled in sugar which cut through the citrus. Lovely bar and I will return on a regular basis!

Not a good bar to walk into at midnight Saturday night: people tend to come in here in groups and order every cocktail on the menu, leaving you waiting for your simple champagne for a very long time. They do table service here during the happy hour sort of time, staff to patron ratio permitting. There really is nothing better than reclining in a cocktail lounge and having delicious drinks bought to you on a tray. The high life, for common people. Music is inoffensive club and electro that you can both dance to if you're in the mood or ignore when you want to have a proper chat. No matter how busy this place gets we never seem to have trouble finding a table, which is another reason why this is a favourite for me and my friends. Its positioning right near delicious restaurants like British India and Mesa Lunga also make it the perfect possie for after dinner drinks.

Nook Is a…read moresmall/mid size bar with a friendly, unpretentious vibe and well worth a pop in for a few 'sips' (you'll get it when you check it out) and 'eats'. Whilst the wine list isn't mammoth they have however some thought into it so you are bound to find something that takes your fancy...... And it's defiantly growing. They also offer a range of quality beers and spirits. I was pretty surprised how nice the food was (small tapas plates, best shared with a friend) considering how small the kitchen area is. The fit out and look of the bar is simple, effective and smart. Small touches of hooks underneath tables for handbags/jackets is something I always look for and I'm happy to report that have me covered! Another thing I always look for is how the toilets are presented and I have to say considering the size they are fitted Very nicely and have great little touches like awesome handcream. Despite being more on the casual side of things what does blow me away about Nook is the fantastic service that we get every time. The owners (I assume) work the bar and also do the table service, and they do a fantastic job. Striking up conversations with customers, giving off a great vibe and most importantly offering a new drink as soon as your current one is dry. I'm not sure what the other days are like (love to read another review) but I'm pretty keen to make a visit most Sunday afternoons for a couple of drinks with friends.

We popped in on a Sunday night for a quiet drink, it ended up being a really quiet drink because despite the live entertainment the place was not very busy at all we ended up being the only ones left at 8pm. The drinks (sips as it is titled) menu isn't extensive but it has a little bit of everything including wines, spirits, craft beers and ciders so you'll be sure to find something that tickles your fancy. We came after dinner so we didn't try any of the nibbles menu but it looked good full of cheeses, small goods and the like. The service was friendly and attentive, always coming to ask if you want another drink once your glass is empty. Unfortunately its location means it isn't prone to lots of passing traffic, its more of a destination but hopefully it gets a good reputation and picks up (or maybe we just visited on a slow night) because it has the potential to be very cool.
