I started out with the Haw Yeah ("Rum blend, amaro meletti, pernod, hawflakes, high octane black sugar falernum, mulberry grenadine, lime"), which is a delicious spin on a typical tiki drink. I can't say no to a martini, so Doc's Dirty Martini ("plymouth gin, guerra dry vermouth, house brine, blue cheese olive") was an obvious first choice. And yeah, it's excellent. Dirty martinis have the tendency to be a little too briny for my taste, but the balance in this one was just about perfect. I'd go so far as to say that this is basically as good as a dirty martini gets. For my second drink, I was extremely intrigued by the Rum Old Fashioned ("el dorado 5, el dorado 12, varnelli fantasia punch, coconut syrup, tiki bitters"), so that's what I got. And oh boy, is it ever a top notch beverage. It does have the flavor profile of a typical old fashioned, but it's been elevated to ridiculous degrees. The rum really makes a difference, and now I can't imagine drinking a traditional old fashioned. (I want to also single out the complimentary bar snacks, which were wasabi peas and some kind of crunchy plantain or banana-type concoction. They were truly excellent.)
