We arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday and there was a steady stream of customers. We were able to be seated right away. had hoped to give it a 5 star review, but because the Yaki soba noodles were not the same kind of noodle as in Japan, I took off a star. Otherwise the flavor was fine and it was prepared pretty well. I give them a thumbs up for really trying to be as authentic as possible. This is a bunch of fufu. We stayed in Bordeaux for a week and was very intrigued by Fufu because there was always 20-30 people lined up outside during lunch hours. There are tons of other options in the main square but people chose to get in line for chuka noodles here. Not sure what the hype is all about but the wait would not be worth it if you're a ramen snob like me. Lol My credential? I've been to Japan close to 10 times and ramen shops are a dime a dozen in LA. The ramen noodle was chewy and cooked al dente but the broth lacks flavor and depth. Price was fair compared to other restaurants in central Bordeaux. If you must have hot noodles and there's no line, go for it. We came 5 minutes before opening and was the first to be seated. Quick and easy hot food made fresh daily. My throat was starting to act up due to the near freezing weather in mid November. I was dying for hot soup. We checked out their website and saw a video of how they make their noodles and gyoza and were blown away at how they make their own in house. Without a doubt we came to France for French food but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to have every meal be French. Also what does it mean to be French? This restaurant is in France and everyone here speaks fluent French. I digress. The ramen I had, second one down from the menu, was delightful. As one Yelper mentioned it's kind of a plane broth. This is true, this style ramen is a chicken broth, totally different than the kind you'd typically find in Los Angeles that's swimming in fat. This is compared to the magnificent Simen at McDonalds in Hawaii, which I love so much, but way better quality. The gyoza was lovely too as they were actually larger than most gyozas found in the states at Japanese restaurants. They have vinegar and soy sauce at the table to combine in the dipping dish that compliments the gyoza beautifully. For €7 for 6 pieces of HOMEMADE gyoza, I'm living, in the states they charge this price but for frozen generic gyoza.. I think it's nice that they have fresh gyozas at this price it's totally fair. Also loved their pork tonkotsu with rice and some shredded cabbage. Overall great place to get piping hot food. Expert tip: don't be intimidated by the line, it is indeed a small restaurant but they hustle and serve the food quick and we only waited 5 minutes. You pay at the front once you're done. read more

First time trying out this ramen place in the heart of Bordeaux, very nice neighborhood! You are able to sit at the bar and watch the cooks while you eat, which I always love. The staff is friendly and our food arrived really quickly. I had the classic Ramen, I loved that the noodles were homemade, they were perfectly cooked and fresh. The pork belly was nice, there were two thick slices which I found quite generous. The broth was really flavorful and not too salty. Would visit again! read more

It was cold and lightly drizzling the day we went to Bordeaux. Ramen sounded like the perfect reprieve from all the walking and sightseeing. The restaurant is small so my sister and I sat at the bar. Very quickly a very sweet woman asked us if we wanted English menus and we did because my sister is not familiar with hot Japanese food. I ordered the Yakisoba with pork and my sister ordered the Tantanmen. The Yakisoba was great but the pork was a tiny bit dry and could have been a little more flavorful. The Tantanmen was fantastic! I kept having little slurps of hers and in the end we poured some of the juice onto my plate to create a custom Yakisoba. LOL! If I was being critical I would give 4 stars but because the service was so friendly this is definitely a 5 star joint. Especially if you are an American. I will definitely go back next time I visit Bordeaux. read more

I'm not gonna start with the line I've tried ramen in Japan cause that is what everyone says...... Actually feck it, I am. I've had ramen in Japan several times and I love it. Anytime I see a ramen restaurant anywhere in the world I struggle not to go in and this was no different. The decor was standard and could have been a ramen restaurant on Japan. The staff were friendly enough, the service was quick and the food is cooked right Infront of you. In terms of the food itself it was not the best ramen in the world, but it was very decent. Double pork was still not that much and the egg was a bit small, but I enjoyed it and the broth was tasty. We also shared some dumplings and they went down great. All in if you fancy a break from French food and wine, this is definitely worth a look. read more

Fufu is just what you want a hip ramen noodle bar to look like - small, narrow with mainly bar seats, noisy, full of steam from boiling and frying noodles and full of people. You can choose between noodle soup (ramen), fried noodles (yakisoba), fried rice or dumplings (gyoza) - or all of the above, obviously. At least half of the staff seems to be Japanese, which promises authentic Japanese fare. I haven't been so fortunate as to have eaten ramen in Japan, and can thus not comment on the authenticity of the taste, but I found both the ramen, yakisoba and gyoza to be delicious. The basic ramen had a broth more akin to chicken pho whereas the tantanmen was pretty standard (you gotta pay to add an egg to the tantanmen...). 5€ for an Asahi is a joke. read more

I've been to Fufu twice and it is quite good to my surprise. There's not a lot of tables but it is also one of the places in Bordeaux that doesn't close during lunch time which makes it so convenient. Be sure to ask for hot sauce on the side because there's only spicy oil on the tables but the hot sauce is much better. They also have some rice dishes and stir frys, gyozas and mochi. You know when you're just cold and need a big bowl of steaming hot ramen? That's how we found ourselves at Fufu. The ramen definitely hit the spot... but was it better than I could make at home? Probably not. Was it a nice change of pace from French food? Sure, it definitely was. I'd recommend coming here if you have a strong craving for ramen (or wok fried noodles), but don't expect something spectacular. We each ordered the standard ramen. It's 9.50 euros for a pretty substantial bowl, with chicken broth, 3 slices of pork, some bean sprouts and mushrooms, and half a soft-boiled egg. There is quite a bit of food (mostly noodles) so you'll have more than enough to eat. It's a good deal, and the food is quite comforting, but nothing particularly special. I saw other tables ordering their wok fried noodles though, and that looked good! They also seem to do a lot of takeout, which is a nice option. We got lucky and did not have to wait for a table, but the place is pretty small (about 4 2-person tables, and a long counter that seats maybe 10-15). read more

Granted, this was in Bordeaux, France....If you think the ramen is good here, then you have not tried authentic japanese style ramen. If you're a tourist, looking for a quick Umami fix because you're sick of the Baguettes and the local food, then sure, this provides a semi-decent alternative. Essentially what I got with the equivalent to a pork chashu ramen was a simple Udon soup base. I can replicate the same flavors with Udon soup base from an asian grocery store. Now the noodles were good and chewy. Also, the egg was not a soft boiled egg. A soft boiled egg's yolk is still semi-runny. I had a half of a full on hard boiled egg. The service and food at fufu is good if you're looking for something quick and convenient to eat. The place was packed when we visited, but seats cleared up as fast as they were taken. They also have a Chinese menu in case you can't read French, but can read Chinese. I ordered the chashumen and gyoza. The broth for the chashumen was hearty and filling. Coming from the Bay Area, I'm probably spoiled, but I felt the toppings were lacking for the price we paid. My chashumen came with chashu, seaweed, half an egg, and bamboo. The chashu were thin cuts and sort of dry. The noodles were not the kind of noodles I'm used to, but rather quite thick, but no real complaints there. The gyoza was kind of pricey, even though it was made well- slight crispy skin and juicy inside. read more

This little noodle house was a nice little surprise within the Bordeaux Centre Ville. I loved that there was a decent (but not too long of a line) q to enter the little restaurant, and clasped my hands in anticipation while I heard Japanese being spoken among the employees and the customers. The food is good, but not the best. I ordered the hiyashi ramen, and it just wasn't all that. Yes, it was nice to eat something as I was hungry, but I was surprised to find that it was not as authentic as I assumed the food to be (that's probably just my own mistake). I liked that they served Yebisu biru, and that you can eat right on the bar counter like a ramen ya but the chair stools were completely whack. They were probably made for children, as there was no comfortable way of sitting on that thing. Never quite figured that out during my meal there, so that was rather awkward. It was funny to watch other new customers go through the same confusion of trying to adjust their chairs, so perhaps its there for entertainment value. The staff there was nice, and did their best to service everyone in a timely manner. Would I go there again? Probably. It's a neat little place just to pop in, what I ordered really wasn't all that great, but I would definitely try and give it another go as it certainly seemed popular for a reason. read more

I would prefer a whole soft boiled egg instead of just a half in the ramen bowl. Ingredients look and taste authentic. There is a take out (emporter) window for ordering take away. While I normally wouldn't go for other foods when visiting a new country (unless they are known for it), I was getting a sore throat and really needed something soupy. Furthermore, Yelp had this listed quite high so I thought to give it a chance. My husband and I love ramen and we eat it very regularly in Vancouver and Las Vegas, and have had it in Japan. So we believe we know good ramen. I would say this place is okay considering it's in the South of France but far from some of the best ramen I've had. The ramen comes with noodles that were not like the real ramen noodles, bean sprouts, just a couple tiny pieces of bamboo shoots, half a seasoned egg (Which was quite tasty and salty as I like it), and 3 pieces of pork charsu. The pork chasu was tasty but not as tender as I like it. The soup base was more like a simple udon soup base not like a richer ramen soup base. We also had the gyoza which was okay.
