There's a large corner with chairs up by the big glass windows that is very cozy. There are fans. Yeah. I love fans. I don't know if they have a book club but there is room for that! I didn't get a chance to really explore the store as I was on the hunt for children's books. I have to say that there was a very kind manager there to help, but children's books seemed to be everywhere in this midstore nook area that had children's books on shelves and in boxes on the floor. I didn't have the ability to get down low and check them all out. 75% of the books I looked at had some kind of minor boo boo. But I was realistic. If this was my child, I wouldn't care about that. They were clean. There were so many varieties. However, I was buying a gift and didn't know how the mother would feel. Really, most were in excellent shape considering we are talking kids here and I WAS looking for a two year old. In the end I found three highly regarded used books for $18 total. One had a spot of coffee or hot chocolate? Yum. lol Anyway, I found out they buy back books here. I can't really say that I absolutely understand the process, but I do know that STORE CREDIT is a big part of the plan. What a deal to keep recirculating books for reading. For those looking to make money on their books, they do offer cash for more current titles based on original sales price. They take into consideration condition and inflation. Just ask. Lucky Dog Books is a very intimate browsing experience. It's comfortable. They have DVDs, VHS tapes, Music - CD's, sets. And books. Check it out.

The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot.

I also like all the extras offered - like little ghost coin purses that look like the ones from the early 20s. The people working there were happy, and that says a lot about a store to me. I asked a few questions and they were very knowledgeable and quickly answered my questions with confidence. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.
