A REAL REVIEW…read more Both my Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Frontier have been serviced by South bay auto since about 2010 to June 20, 2022. The old man (previous owner) died sometime in the previous 12-14 months prior to the above date, and the quality went down and pricing up. However the customer service is 1st rate, and you will feel great after your experience there, if you know little about cars, and who does.....me. LOL On my (wife's) Toyota RAV4 I had South Bay Auto replace both front axels, the alternator, front, rear rotors + pads, trans fluid screen, trans fluid more than once, various oil + filter changes, Air Conditioning core (requires complete dash board removal), tie rods and a several other repairs. I do believe the heater core was replaced twice. The work was done professionally and at a fair price. However in the last couple of years I did suspect without, any proof, there may have been some add-ons. On my Nissan I did not feel as good about my repairs....I will explain, I kept accurate records, and inspections. On Feb. 27, 2019, I had South Bay Auto replace the upper and lower radiator hoses. After the repairs, I brought my Nissan to my home garage, I inspected the work, and found it faulty. I found the top radiator hose installed rubbing against a bracket on the radiator. With the vibration of the engine, a hole will develop at the hose, when rubbing against the bracket, a year or more later. This actually happened to me on another vehicle. Not trusting South Bay Auto I removed the bracket and installed it 3/8 inch away from the hose. The next day I brought my Nissan to South Bay Auto and showed him the shoddy work his people did on my Nissan. The last time my Nissan was serviced at South Bay Auto was on June 20, 2022. I had them replace the front rotors + pads, and drain + fill the differential oil. I supplied the new parts + container of differential oil and almost always want to receive the used parts from the dealer or repair shop for my vehicle. Two or three weeks later I noticed that the container of oil I had given to South Bay Auto to drain + fill of my differential, the oil that they had returned to me, the seal had not been broken. Looks like either the oil was drained and filled with the shops own oil, and I was only charged with labor, no charge for the oil. Or the oil was never changed , only oil level checked . Now there are times a misunderstanding happens, but never to the customers benefit....LOL

My path to trying Brault Auto Electric was an odd one. We recently bought a late-model Dodge…read moreCaravan at a dealership. Our first auto purchase in 15 years. We didn't get it at a Dodge dealer though, but rather a local dealer whose name I probably shouldn't say in this review (but it rhymes with Can Spamaway). Then we had a hitch installed at our long-term garage we use for service. A while after the hitch was installed (sorry, did I mention this will be a longish review?) I noticed the left rear turn signal wasn't working. A little research revealed the turn signal assembly had LED lights that rarely burnt out, so it wasn't a simple bulb replacement. We brought it back to where the hitch was installed and they replaced the wiring harness for the hitch, under a parts warranty, but, you guessed it, on the way home we saw it still wasn't working. Bummer, right? To make a long story slightly less long, knowing how wiring problems can drop unsuspecting general mechanics into a rabbit hole, and not wanting to give the hitch installer another crack at the problem, I decided to look for a repair garage with good reviews and a focus on electrical work, such as one like Brault which has the words "auto electric" in their name. I called and they were able to get me in the next business day, which was sweet because even though we are all used to people not signaling when they drive, I didn't like the tailgaters behind me not knowing when I was turning left. He informed me there would be a $100 minimum charge, perhaps to deflect a legion of people who only need bulbs replaced, or to ensure that the customer won't grow faint and whine if it isn't a quick repair. Whatever, I said yes. I tried not to visualize my van's wiring hanging down from engine to muffler with no success in finding the problem, and I was relieved to get a mid-afternoon call saying it was fixed. He said that it took a while to trace the issue and indeed it was related to the hitch installation, in case I wanted to pass that fact on to the installer. He further said he couldn't imagine why they tied the hitch wiring in with the turn signal wiring; sort of like how a hair stylist always criticizes the person who gave you your last haircut. So anyway it cost that $100 minimum charge and no more, and I left there a happy camper. I would not hesitate to use them again. Plus the gentleman I spoke to and settled up with was born in my home state of Maine. Cool beans. I forgot to take a picture but if you are worried about driven by Brault, it is a distinct dark blue building. Can't miss it, as the old timers like to say.
