I've been training in Muay Thai/boxing for 10+ years, but am now a mom of 2 little ones and have physical limitations given multiple knee injuries/surgeries. It's been hard to find a legit boxing gym with good trainers that can tailor classes to my injuries and is also family friendly. I should also mention that they have 2 kids of their own that you'll often see at the gym. They offer kids classes which they're trying to build and also have a kids play area with toys and even a blow up bounce house. There's a sense of camaraderie that you feel as soon as you walk through the doors which I love and miss since I've mostly been doing personal training boxing sessions since moving to PHX 2 years ago. But don't let that fool you because you'll also see seasoned boxers training for fights and sparring. They offer a wide range of class times and open gym which is super convenient. I have been a student, coach and Professional Grappling Competitor at TNT for 5 years now. In those…read more5 years I have competed against some of the best in the world (just 3 days ago had a main event super fight against one of the best black belts in the world) a couple months before that competed at the ADCC Word Trials in New Jersey which is essentially known as the Olympic Trials of Jiu Jitsu. To accomplish what I have in just 5 years of training is not possible without the guidance and teachings of the owner/head coach Scott Tannenbaum and the environment TNT provides for all of its members. Coach Scott has created a entire career path for me and if it was not for TNT I do not know where I'd be. Even as avid coach and employee Coach Scott always encourages me to train outside of TNT with my friends from Various academies and gives me an extreme amount of control in how I run classes, teach etc it's great because I know that various other academies would not be as encouraging or more down their coaches throat about what they can or cannot do. I've traveled across the state to teach, been invited to do countless seminars, trained with the best Jiu Jitsu competitors in the world in multiple different states all are just a few reasons why I am grateful I came to TNT. We have a successful competition team of grapplers and some mma fighters. Competition is one of our biggest advantages at the gym compared to other academies. A competition team that Coach Scott gives me free reign in how I coach and lead our training. Above all else it is the integrity that TNT sets the standard for that allows for such a welcoming environment with coaches that have all competed at a high level and trained with the best in the sport. Our memberships our contract based which at the end of the day if you know how a contract works it's pretty self explanatory. Scott is very understanding if a member has to move or gets injured. I've seen it multiple times and can reference the specific people he's helped through their Injuries. He's very easy to talk to and I've been at TNT long enough to factually contradict the few 1 Star ratings that have been posted about the gym. There's a reason why there are so many 5 star reviews of current and past members and visitors that stop by the gym. I've trained at almost every major academy across the state of Arizona so I'm very well aware of what's out there. There are several amazing places to train in AZ I'm very good friends with several school owners but i am still very confident in saying TNT impacts peoples lives for the best and there is no place I'd rather call home. No politics or drama - Coach Scott has a very clear curriculum that is required for each belt promotion. And they include quite a bit of self defense and explain how it applies in those situations.
