Great rink with lots of seating. Wooden floors are well maintained. The snack bar is huge and has a variety of items. From burgers to chips and candy, hot drinks and cold drinks they've got it. Hot menu items are made to order to guarantee freshness. Staff is kind and helpful. Facilities are kept clean and well stocked. There is ample parking even enough parking for busses and trailers. Overall a great experience. Wonderful place for events with a large group. read more

This place has been a long time! Bright colors, arcade rooms, big rink to skate on. There are a few refreshments to buy if needed and light snacks like nachos. Lots of prizes, candy, and loud music. A good commendation for birthday parties, all night skates, and get togethers. Admission prices are very accommodating. It's been about a year since I've taken my daughter skating and this past Saturday we came here to have some fun! I checked o lime and saw they open up at noon so I made sure to get there close to opening. We arrived at like 12:05pm and there was a LINE! Turns out the bulk of those people were there for a party and one of the workers at the front called up people who were not apart of the party to a seperate line and we rolled right in. Admission and skates for myself and my daughter came up to $15 and they gave us tickes for the skate. I'm not sure the break down on that price but I thought that was pretty decent. There were private rooms for party, benches you can eat your food on and a gaming area too if you wanted to take a break from skating and have some fun. Music was jumping as we walked toward the area all the skates were at. We provided them with the tickets and we traded our shoes in for skates. The skates were actually pretty fly. I'm used to old raggedy skates when I go skating but these were far from that. My daughter wanted to be a big girl and try skating without the skate trainer device but after 42 seconds she was like nahhhh. We went back to the front where they keep the skate trainers and I rented one of those. That ran me another $5. We had lots of fun going around the rink. She fell a few times but kept getting back up to skate some more. I liked that. We skated for about 45 and then she was over it. I'm def gonna come back here by myself so I can really get my skate on. read more

Nice spot for the family! Hard to believe as much as I love skating that I had never been here before. The staff is friendly enough and I can tell they do try to maintain the rink. We went during the day on a Saturday. It was crowded, as to be expected, but not too bad. You have to look out for the "skaters in training" as they give them these handmade devices made of pvc they can lean on to learn how to balance. It's a nice idea though. I would definitely visit again, just maybe in the evening next time. read more

Lack of diversity in staff. I booked a party and a female staff member made a comment to a black, male guest that she could smell weed and accused my guest of drug use at the party! the woman refused to apologize. You're unable to access your party room until 30 minutes after your booking. This meant guest had the difficult tasks of trying to find seating and a table to manage the items for the party room. You're supposed to leave the party room 30 minutes before the end of the party time, which meant kids and their parents had to hold all of there items until 5pm (party booked from 3pm-5pm). When exiting the roller rink, I noticed the sheriff had arrived and entered the building. I am uncertain if this is the regular closing process, or if the female staff member was "fearful" following her racist and prejudice accusations and comments. The pizza was not tasty, the service was not of quality, and very uncomfortable interactions with staff! The establishment does not appear to be available for contact unless parent is being called to confirm party booking. No access to management and no obvious care of customer and service improvements. Highly disappointed and I would not recommend hosting a party here. read more

me a 16 yr old with skates, brings my 18 yr old boyfriend with no skates (they let us in everytime) they let me in just fine with nothing else to say. when it was time for my boyfriend to pay he says he needs skates. they continue to ask for HIS ID... i thought this was a skating rink not the ABC store. they were very rude and had no respect. looked like all the workers hated their job. even to the manager was very disrespectful. we proceeded to leave and went straight to skateland usa where we had a good time not worried about them at fryes... Entry and parking was simple enough, cheap prices! Skates have upgraded since i've been here last and they're comfier and easy to tie. The music is the only thing that was odd. It was slightly outdated for the number of younger kids on the rink. Overall very clean and nice rink! read more

Came here for a friend of my daughter's b-day party. Cost seemed a little steep for skating (especially the $5 for the kid walkers) but okay it was the weekend and they do have dollar Tuesdays. A lot of reviews complain that the staff is rude but I didn't experience that. The men's bathroom was disgusting and the sound system could use an upgrade . I would say it is time for a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. I guess you can get away with it if you are the only game in town. read more

I took my 4 kids here today ages 12-4. What could have been an absolute nightmare of a trip turned out amazing thanks to the sweet caring staff. They saw me struggling (understatement) with my scared 4yr old. They offered to take her aside and help her feel more comfortable. They had a quick pep talk and tightened up her wheels so she could skate (walk) in them. She was so excited! The rest of my girls had a great time. They offer skating classes on Thursdays at 5:30 that all my kids want to take now. read more

I Love this roller rink I just started skating again and I haven't skated since I was four and I go there every weekend

Fryes was a holdhold name for my family until the night of my youngest sons bday celebration one of the staff members apparently took her job too serious. Again, we come here several times a year and maybe bc Im skating, involved in a bday party or enjoying adult skate I never noticed but Ive read the reviews. This time I was quietly sitting enjoying my son skate on his bday. Here goes, the staff member which I later found out it was the managers wife went out of her way to pester us about an empty water bottle I had brought in to split the water we bought from the concession stand. Then shortly came back to pest my son about his hoodie, kept sweeping the broom around us looking for something to pester us about. The harassment was subtle but targeted and I couldnt believe it was happening. An argument brewed between us when I finally had enough and couldn't ignore it any longer. She was pessimistic, sarcastic and bored obviously. This seems like a routine for her as Im remembering the reviews I read earlier. The couple next to me said she does this all the time to them and it was normal and aggravating. An argument erupted, I finally told the woman to move on. She said I'm working and Im staying right here. I asked if she would not address me. She asked me would I like to speak to a manager. I said nothing. Walked over and asked for the manager. I should of known it was a set up. The manager was her spouse. He looked at me as I complained as if he didnt care to hear a word coming out of my mouth and stated well she's my wife after I pointed her out. It clicked, this woman feels entitled bc shes married to mgt. And this fool dumb enough to allow her to run customers away! I too run a business so I understand customer service. This type of Kkk behavior will get you no where. I retreated, told the mgr nevermind and told my crew to return the skates were leaving. The woman comes back over and starts sweeping right next to me. This subtle form of pessimistic behavior is whats wrong with America. When a family cant go somewhere and enjoy themselves without being harassed just because. Its sad, you lost another family bc you were too cowardly to stand up and be a Mgr not a husband. This is normal, the staff that witnessed it didnt flinch. The customers around were not in shock as if this is ok. Harrassment of any kind is NOT ok, and I will not be patronized by anyone. read more

Pros: this place is the place my kids have made a ton of memories, mostly from school events. The floor is safe, they have good music, and they have skates...that's all you need in a roller rink I guess. Cons: the worst part of this place is the staff. I mean, this is the South! People are usually nice, but these people , almost all of them, are so rude. I walked in 9 months pregnant and the lady made me throw my water bottle out! It's not just that they have off days, I've been here at least 20 times and they're like this every time. It's not the cleanest and I don't think I've ever seen one update. Classic roller Rink in the Charlotte Metro area. We had our daughter's birthday party here and had a blast. Go earlier in the day if you are looking for more room to skate at 12 when they open on Saturdays. Reasonably priced and good pop music to skate to. If you have a birthday party the party room is strictly for 1 hour so be prepared. The staff are serious about sticking to the birthday party schedule and rules so be prepared. They call a few days before to confirm your party which is nice. We look forward to going back on hot days to cool of skating! read more

The fisher price skates were perfect for my Toddler. The staff is great. I love how they have floor support to prevent major accidents.

Unfortunately, there aren't many skating rinks in the Charlotte area so we have come here to skate in the past.....but not going forward. As mentioned by many others, there is a dark cold energy when you walk in. We experience this everytime we go but enough is enough! I am finally putting my foot down and not returning. Every single person that works here is rude and they appear to be bothered by your business. Young, old, male, female, all unpleasant and miserable. Working here doesn't require much customer service but they can't even get the basics down packed. It's usually pretty "sticky" when we come (multiple surfaces), so I stopped letting my children eat here. They will also not be skating here either. My kids wanted a skate party so I booked at Fryes. The kids had an amazing time!!! And booking the party was definitely worth it. All the kids received a free admission pass to come back and the birthday child received a free monthly pass where they can come back once a month for free. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was good. We will definitely be returning. read more

Frye's skating right now used to be really fun , Now it's not as fun so many changes ,it's more of a gang hang out . Yes the sheriff is there , an if they see trouble they make them leave , it's gotten where u can't drop ur kids off children under 18 HAS to be with a adult 18 or older . It used to be where you could drop ur children they can have fun an go back an get them with worry . Now u can't do that ,this is sad what things has came to .. I like the staff (most of them at least) they all seem fine and nice, except for the manager and his wife they are unpleasant and racist. But the majority of the staff are fine, I work service and I know how hard it is and you're not always going to be smiling so that doesn't bother me. The workers at the skate counter are great always lend a wrench to a girl in need when ever I forget mine at home. Rink is good, smooth, and safe good for beginners and a lot of more experienced skaters are helpful. read more

It's a roller rink. Everyone goes counterclockwise. Skates look relatively newish and you can rent inlines or roller skates. It's warm and loud inside unless you sit by the bathrooms where one of 2 vents are. Bathrooms are worn down and oddly enough the sink is outside the bathroom. You can't bring any outside food or water inside. It's run down, but if you want to skate then this is the place. read more

So let me start this review by saying at the end of the day my daughter and her friends had a great time at her birthday party! Thats the goal for any child's birthday. Now, though I'd seen previous reviews regarding issues of customer service, attitudes, and racism I still give people and establishments the benefit of the doubt. I did not experience an issue with the lady at the front window. In fact she was great. Now I will say that there was a general lack of customer service. I placed out pink tablecloths on 2 tables near the snack area so that the parents could locate us prior to the start of the party. That way they could leave coats or have a general place to chill until our party room time started. One of the young ladies asked me about this and I advised her I was aware my party was not there and asked if I should remove them from the tables if it was an issue. She said no and moved on. But we were asked 2 more times about this which was annoying but I can understand that others may misconstrue what we were doing. Which again, is why I said it wouldn't be a problem to remove them. When we were called to the party room it had a general set up. There wasn't a host/hostess unfortunately to assist with the party at all. (This would've helped with overall customer service.) So everything was done on our own. The only time we saw anyone was when we were reminded twice of time limits on the room. The young lady brought in a "gift" bag for the Birthday girl that was in a zip lock bag . (Again, customer service.) Now over all it was pretty clean including the bathrooms and snack area. We were there early so I didn't see that based on previous reviews. Once I got home I did go through the "gift" bag and saw that they'd placed two monkey tattoos in the bag for my daughter. This could be taken two ways. Subtle racism or general lack of consideration. If your business previously been accused of racism, I would be mindful to NOT place anything that could be deemed racists in "gift" bags at all. That's just a tip from a professional. Though I live 15 minutes from the rink I won't return and in fact will make the 30 minute drive to Kate's going forward. It was ok. But for what we paid they could've roller skated on my back patio and had a house party with better results. ‍ read more

My daughter skates three regularly. It's a roller rink ,she has her own skates and it's a place for young teens to hang out. There are parents that hang out. The restrooms are atrocious according to my daughter. The staff, she says is nice. I think the difference between levels of skaters and the fact that inexperienced skaters are largely unsupervised and don't understand that they should keep to the edge is something the rink could do better at. read more

Yeah, I grew up going to this rink and so thought that I would bring my two kids, niece and nephew for a few hours of fun while in town visiting. Well, we left after about an hour. It just wasn't safe for my preteens. Don't get me wrong, I love rough skating, I just retired from the roller derby, but this was nuts. Anyway, there were groups of teenagers tripping and falling in front of little kids, and another group rolling a wheel across the crowded rink with no supervision at all. Incredibly unsafe. The crazy thing is that there are so many staff standing around behind the counters but there was just one older guy who would occasionally pop in on the rink and do a few laps, but unfortunately he was on his phone most of the time. The rink was packed and the teenagers totally knew they could do whatever they wanted and they did. Man, if I had skates on, I would have hip checked everyone one of those bullies, but instead we left after I ended up telling everyone I could see to keep their kids safe. Hey management, you should take control of your rink. Keep staff rolling and actually watching your asset and not behind the counter staring at their phones. Can't comment on the food because we chose 40 tokens for video games instead. The video game area was slightly lacking in maintenance, many machines were broken. I have been going here for yrs the little old Lady that works the door makes this place she is amazing she friendly always has a smile on here face and always is a good mood. I just wish the younger kids would learn form here and follow in here foot steps. There is a new lady that works in Concessions she has glasses and tattoos with greenish hair thats Rude, and is always yelling at the kids. We where in last night and the kids behind the counter wanted to play around more then they like helping customers at one point there was no one around to take orders. If this continues we are going to stop going but my kids love this place and love seeing the lady at the door she really makes this place great. Terrible staff. They shut games off on children for my daughters party even though we booked it. They don't invest any of the money earned into their business, so why should you? Not a single employee has a new shirt, they're all clearly extremely old and stained up. Their skate rentals will tear your feet up because, from my perspective, they will let a skate be used by a paying customer with no padding or laces without a million knots in it. I had my daughter's 10th bday party there this past October! The party room they gave us was set and ready on time. The hostess explained we would need to finish on time bc they had back to back parties that day. I understood and agreed. 10 minutes before our paid hour was up, the hostess came in and started discarding our tables even though we had 10 more minutes left. They were rude and my daughter said that the lady (hostess) bumbed her reslly hard and didn't apologize. I felt some type of way. I will not patronize them again in the future. read more

Terrible customer service. I had my daughter's birthday there and not only did we get our 45 minute room rental 15 minutes late with no extension; they moved the rooms on us and moved our personal belongings and presents without our knowledge, i.e. purses and coats. They also provided the wrong pizzas. The rink smelled of sewage as the plumbing backed up causing many a complaint. At the end of the experience the "doorman" to the skate mates(child assisting gizmo) took our 4 year old's back because she rolled away from it and locked it up. He said someone brought it to him, but I watched him put it in the room. He would not give it back. He said it was left unattended and the sign said do not leave unattended. She's 4 and cannot read and she left it for maybe 45 seconds--saw the whole thing. He asked for a receipt and the wristband required to have the device. We provided them, but the name HE wrote down was different than the child's name. So no skate mate. When I questioned him and the manager about why I could not get the skate mate they said the 4 year old provided the wrong name so no sorry, but tough s*@% attitude. I said I can't believe I spent over $200, provided the proper documentation and you will not give back a $5 device. Are you kidding? POOR SERVICE! They then said we are calling the cops! I never yelled, or threatened I just wanted to know why, but because I questioned they threatened me with arrest. I've been in customer service for 20 years and they do not care not one bit. I just wanted to know why I brought them business and they treat us like crap. They walked away to the office, told me to leave and they were calling the cops. I said that was fine, but before they get here hand me back the wristband so when they do come I have all the information I need for them. Manager said no and slammed the door. Just bring your money and go. Terrible people with no common sense. I do not recommend this place at all. It's an old building that is falling apart and they do not care! read more

This place has really gone downhill in past few years. I know we don't have many options for skating rinks but the owners should not only do some much needed improvements to the facility in general but they really need to put staff on the floor to patrol the kids. Kids are dangerous, going the wrong way, running in to other b/c careless, even skating fast and carelessly on the carpeted areas , candy including suckers in their mouths on the skating floor, cutting across the whole rink and they do nothing about it, especially during their days when summer camps are here. I'm going to start driving a much greater distance just to not only take my kids to a place that is cleaner & updated w/ better food options for them but most importantly somewhere more safe that is better supervised. read more

Took my friends and family here recently and the lady that works the tickets, believe her name was Kathy was so helpful and friendly, she even checked on me after falling LOL! The kids had so much fun we definitely will be returning, after I heal of course. read more

We go to Fryes several times a month. We always enjoy our time there. The music is ok and they staff is just ok too.
