But its the food that sells it at the end of the day. I've lost count of the times i've had fish and chips to be met with chewy fish and overly thick batter. All but gving up thinking you could get something really well prepared and fresh this far from the coast. So Blakeleys was a refreshing change to that! Good portion sizes obviously, as this is of course a Yorkshire chippy! But not crazy like some. Lunchtime special was fish and chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea for £6.80. Fantastic value especially considering the quality of the food. The menu is actually quite large and so would cater easily for anyone fancying a change from the standard. And with some very tempting proper puddings too as well as beers and wine for anyone who fancies it. Very good!

They won an award a few years ago for best fish and chip shop but I still think they're one of the best in Brighouse. The fish is beautiful and they do great chips. I love to get them from here and go and eat them by the canal on a sunny day. The staff in here are friendly and always have a smile. The shop looks a bit old and worn but still very clean. I haven't been in the restaurant but it looks nice from the outside!

Its generally busy so expect to queue up for 5 or 10 mins. It will be worth the wait for the best fish and chips around. The fish in particular are very good. Always cooked well with great batter. They always make sure that the fish are a good size and will add a extra half if they feel the first is undersize. Chips are good and one portion is plenty for 2 people. There are several chippies in the same area but this is the place to come to.

Step inside and you will find a clean and modern shop set out in standard chip shop layout, the real surprise is in the menu. The standard chip shop favourites are there, but along with lots of other home made additions I didn't expect. There are also poached fish and gluten free options available as well as a range of vegetarian choices. To top it all off the quality of the food is consistently really good and there is service with a smile. My favourite chippy anywhere.
