She kept shrieking "stop touching! I told you all to stop touching the fruit! I will grab for you!!". I rang up a couple mangos and lychee, and she added $3 to the charge. When I asked how she arrived the total, she tallied it up again and couldn't explain the difference. Then when she charged my card on the Square device, she forcibly added another $2?!?!? I asked her about and she said "credit card charge," with no further explanation. I'm not sure what type of fruit vendor expects any rational customer to not gently touch a piece of fruit. Avoid this place and find a nicer proprietor. She seemed irrational and rude to tourists. She was sneaky, and could be adding to other customers' bills erroneously. I'm guessing a lot of folks don't notice the difference.

Some things were locally made just not a lot. There weren't any produce when we went but I think there is on some days! It's right in the heart of the lively area of Kona so should be easy to stop in on your trip!

It was not crowded. I came here because I wanted to buy lychee and bring it back to Oahu. I figured it would be cheaper because there's more farms on the Big Island. The lychee was $9 for a pound and they were really big; lots of meat and the seed was small. Most of the vendors here are cash only. I was mad about the parking because it costed $10 for 1 hour in the "Royal Parking." It was after I paid on my phone that I saw another parking lot offering 90 minutes free to kama'aina (Hawaii residents) by PARKLINQ. The farmers market parking should be free for everyone... how much time are you really going to spend at this little farmers market?! I was done shopping in 30 minutes so the $10 was such a rip off and what sucked was that there was no street parking; all the stalls were taken. If you're staying at the hotels nearby and coming here by foot, it's great but by car, I'd suggest going somewhere with free parking.

It's open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This market continues to grow and it's so fun to see what goodies you'll find here. I absolutely love getting carne asada sopes from the little Mexican food truck in the back. There are so many talented artists here with unique jewelry, accessories, and pieces. I hear amazing things about the brisket fries and fish plates too. The smoked fish dip is so ono. I'm hungry just thinking about everything haha. Be sure to stop by OKK's fruit and vegetable tables too. You never know what you'll find. I just found out about ice cream bean (aka inga in South America), and I am so addicted. This place is a true and very special farmer's market and I hope you get to stop by and enjoy it whether you're just stopping by or haven't been there yet. Have a great time here while supporting local businesses.
