I didn't inherit my mom's sewing hands, so anything that needs to be hemmed, zipped or custom-made usually gets bundled up and taken with me when I visit her. Plus, her trusty Singer workhorse sewing machine always delivers.
When Joann's in Kingston, NY shut down, two of the longtime employees put their heads and hearts together and opened Frugal Fabrics on Ulster Avenue. This isn't your typical fabric store- big box or otherwise. What sets Frugal apart is that these ladies accept some fabrics as donations and sell. But don't mistake that for low quality. The fabric selection here is impressive AND affordable.
While my home leans neutral with rustic woods, concrete and stone, I love to funktify it with pops of color. I don't sew, but I do love beautiful fabric and walking into Frugal F. felt like heaven. The colors, the heft, the textures- especially the pieces I picked up, were delicious. It's a hidden gem for crafters and quilters- neither of which I am, but I'm so glad I came here- plus these ladies know their stuff.
