I'd reached out to a bunch of moving companies and the quotes were crazy (one company wanted $2000) or vague ("Sure, we can probably figure out how to move a piano). A friend recommended Starbird and Jill was quick to respond by email and to arrange a date. The moving team were prompt, professional, careful and really great! Moving a piano is completely different to moving a sofa. They have it down to an exact art and it was kind of awesome to watch my piano being carefully padded, wrapped and then placed into the truck. Once at the new address it had to go up two very steep flights of stairs with tight turns and the guys made it happen. Highly recommend as piano movers!

As a musician who has recorded at Acadia with multiple bands, I can safely say that this studio is…read morea true gem of the Portland music scene. Todd has an excellent ear, from detecting when any instrument or voice is slightly out of tune to determining the exact effect or mix to bring out the best in every track. His suggestions are tasteful and non-intrusive, and respectful of the artist's original vision. Though I'm admittedly a fan of the convenience of digital recording via ProTools, Acadia also has the ability to record to analogue tape for that oldschool sound. The studio's selection of gear, amps, and mics is also second to none-- I always feel like a kid in a candy store. My hardest decision is usually, "would this song benefit more from some vintage tape delay, or that giant reverb tank?" I'm constantly looking for an excuse to get back here and do more work.

They were accommodating when we decided last minute to use two screens and projectors instead of one. Our show band was contracted to provide live entertainment for an 800 person corporate event. Headlight Audio Visual was contracted to provide Front Of The House sound (FOH). Right before our sound check I noticed that their Main speakers and sub-woofers were unplugged. I informed their crew of that, and I was told that the " mains stopped working hours before and that we would have 2 small 12" speakers 100' apart for our sound system." Unbelievable! I guess they weren't going to let us know? Luckily, we had come from a large concert appearance the night before and had our own PA with us. Because we are professionals, we set our own system up and delivered the high quality show that we always do. We are professionals - I would have to say Headlight is not when it comes to delivering live sound. Perhaps they are just a VISUAL company and should remove AUDIO from their letterhead.

Tracks were completely lost or deleted and had to be redone. Playbacks weren't thorough and we had to repeatedly request to listen back. We could have gotten better mixes with garage band on my phone. Other than having some interesting equipment they have no business being a studio.
