Looking forward to booking this space out more for myself and my band. I highly recommend this location for performance, production and practice.

I can't even believe this place is a studio. Terrible engineer and pretty lame space…read more For the engineer, besides being a total black hole of energy, he didn't know what he was doing. He couldn't even figure out how to get the headphones working. They were then unable to record with separation because the headphones weren't working...Every track bled through to all the others. Tracks were completely lost or deleted and had to be redone. Playbacks weren't thorough and we had to repeatedly request to listen back. Then when we did we had to request they come through the main speaker to hear. Then we had to ask for them to be turned up so we could evaluate them. Huh? We could have gotten better mixes with garage band on my phone. Other than having some interesting equipment they have no business being a studio.

As a musician who has recorded at Acadia with multiple bands, I can safely say that this studio is…read morea true gem of the Portland music scene. Todd has an excellent ear, from detecting when any instrument or voice is slightly out of tune to determining the exact effect or mix to bring out the best in every track. His suggestions are tasteful and non-intrusive, and respectful of the artist's original vision. Though I'm admittedly a fan of the convenience of digital recording via ProTools, Acadia also has the ability to record to analogue tape for that oldschool sound. The studio's selection of gear, amps, and mics is also second to none-- I always feel like a kid in a candy store. My hardest decision is usually, "would this song benefit more from some vintage tape delay, or that giant reverb tank?" I'm constantly looking for an excuse to get back here and do more work.

We did an addition recently and our painter and others highly recommend Benjamin Moore paint. This…read morestore is easy to find in SoPo and has easy off street parking. Inside it has more than average amount of paint swatches and collections of paint to help narrow down your colors. I went in a few different times and the guy working there was nice. They of course have tons of paint related items and I found it super helpful to buy the kits with foam boards and mini rollers so I could apply my sample paint to several large squares that could be affixed temporarily to my wall at home rather than paint all over my new drywall as we decided our colors. I have only two complaints- 1) the only sample size here is ridiculous- it's way to large, unless I plan on painting an entire wall to decide, I'm wasting paint and they are quite expensive compared to other smaller sized samples from other stores (and believe me, the cost adds up quick if you get multiple samples!) 2) we chose our color based on the formula on the sample, which when our painter got our paint, it ended up needing to be repainted due to the color being wrong compared to the sample. This was fixed later and figured out by our painter with Maine Paint and we were lucky enough that the second coat covered the wrong color well. The right color is beautiful. All in all I'd recommend the paint and give this location another go, but they appear to need to work on their mixing consistency. The color should be the same no matter which Maine Paint you go to and what sample you get!

He is extremely patient, methodical, delivers top-notch work under tight deadlines, and he's very easy to work with. Pat is always happy to answer questions that artists might have about mastering, or to explain his process. With scores of great-sounding releases to his name, his results speak for themselves.

They recently helped me re-setup my Tele after I screwed it all up by adjusting the neck on my own. They did great work, and got my guitar back in shape pronto. The guys working there are really great. I have had a good experience shopping there over the years for myself or grown children. Highly recommended! Phinneas, the owner, is a very nice man too! PS They gave me some great advice on hydrating gear to protect the guitar going forward as well.
