Todd has an excellent ear, from detecting when any instrument or voice is slightly out of tune to determining the exact effect or mix to bring out the best in every track. His suggestions are tasteful and non-intrusive, and respectful of the artist's original vision. Though I'm admittedly a fan of the convenience of digital recording via ProTools, Acadia also has the ability to record to analogue tape for that oldschool sound. The studio's selection of gear, amps, and mics is also second to none-- I always feel like a kid in a candy store. My hardest decision is usually, "would this song benefit more from some vintage tape delay, or that giant reverb tank?" I'm constantly looking for an excuse to get back here and do more work.

I can't even believe this place is a studio. Terrible engineer and pretty lame space…read more For the engineer, besides being a total black hole of energy, he didn't know what he was doing. He couldn't even figure out how to get the headphones working. They were then unable to record with separation because the headphones weren't working...Every track bled through to all the others. Tracks were completely lost or deleted and had to be redone. Playbacks weren't thorough and we had to repeatedly request to listen back. Then when we did we had to request they come through the main speaker to hear. Then we had to ask for them to be turned up so we could evaluate them. Huh? We could have gotten better mixes with garage band on my phone. Other than having some interesting equipment they have no business being a studio.

They were accommodating when we decided last minute to use two screens and projectors instead of one. The on-site tech collaborated well with the other vendors (the event venue and the band, who also had sound setup in the event room). Also, I researched other AV companies and Headlight was very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Headlight AV as a trustworthy, professional, communicative AV service.

Possibly the worst live sound company I have ever worked with, and I have worked with a lot of…read morethem! Our show band was contracted to provide live entertainment for an 800 person corporate event. Headlight Audio Visual was contracted to provide Front Of The House sound (FOH). Right before our sound check I noticed that their Main speakers and sub-woofers were unplugged. I informed their crew of that, and I was told that the " mains stopped working hours before and that we would have 2 small 12" speakers 100' apart for our sound system." Unbelievable! I guess they weren't going to let us know? Luckily, we had come from a large concert appearance the night before and had our own PA with us. Because we are professionals, we set our own system up and delivered the high quality show that we always do. We are professionals - I would have to say Headlight is not when it comes to delivering live sound. Perhaps they are just a VISUAL company and should remove AUDIO from their letterhead.
