Jerri stepped up and engaged the cruise line to help us deal with late cancellations by uninsured passengers such as ourselves. This review is for agent Matt Jensen. Matt was a pleasure to work with in planning our vacation to an indeterminate all-inclusive resort that wasn't in Riviera Maya - maybe Hawaii - and for around $3k all-in. Seriously. Those were the parameters. He did a lot of leg work and came up with a few viable options that worked. He was knowledgeable, articulate and spent the time to decipher what we really were looking for in a trip. I highly recommend him. read more

I spent part of July in France with my fiancee, traveling by air, car, and train. Surely, we are both able to access the internet, read reviews in English and French, and guess where to stay. But we did not. Rather, instead of hoping for mediocre lodgings or staying in places with travelers who brag about "leveraging" a travel agent, we used a Frosch agent. She was incredibly helpful and her years of experience - including asking other agents for their input and advice - directed us to lovely accommodations. At one point, we had to call from the road (when I got us lost on side roads) and Frosch not only helped, but made a last-minute reservation at an incredible chateau with a Michelin 2 star restaurant. When my family and I decided to take a cruise to the Mediterranean a year ago, we were immediately contacted by Pearl Cohn at Frosch. From the very first moment she walked us through the different itineraries and helped us pick the best one. We had multiple people from various destinations and schedules and she was great at coordinating everyone. Always friendly and caring she treated every detail as if it was she taking the trip. She also went above and beyond providing us some insider tips and bonuses and special materials. She was available and responsive to all our inquiries (and we had many). We had a very bad experience here and I would never use this agency again. I had used an agent about a year ago there and she was quite helpful and even booked us a trip. However this time was just the opposite! I called and she was on vacation and the clerk wouldn't let me book with anyone else. Then she gets back and was unbelievably rude and too busy for us. Neither I nor my husband, both attorneys, would ever treat anyone like that. It was quite a shock, to say the least. He said he couldn't believe how she acted! We have since found a wonderful travel agency in Kenilworth and although our new nice agent is very busy, surprise, she took us on! I just walked in there but it's on Park Ave. So long Frosch Travel and Ms. O'Brien. read more

I had to go through this travel agency as they were the only one that could book the hotel that my friend's wedding is being held at. starting out, I didn't mind as the prices seemed more than reasonable, but then after a month of back and forths, switching agents, and getting told several different changing things about what the rooms were like/ what was available and what it would cost, they finally have me booked. so okay, maybe the hotel was actually sending mixed messages to them? but here is what is REALLY unforgivable. I got a urgent message from a stranger saying I call her back...turns out that one of their agents forwarded all my personal information (copies of my license and credit card, front and back) and credit card authorization form to this stranger who was honest enough to call me back and warn me they were forwarding all my personal information to others. I called and emailed the agent insisting she not do it again. When I was able to reach the agent she apologized (good) and then said she made a mistake. ok, I'm glad she's apologetic, but honestly, that's a pretty big mistake. I asked her to talk to her supervisor to see what the appropriate action would be to respond to such a mistake because I was unsure myself what to do in the situation (identity theft protection? something?). Their response was, oh we'll fax information from now on instead of email. Well, I wasn't really satisfied with the response, as first of all, faxes usually end up in email anyways, and second of all, it doesn't respond to my problem and the huge inconvenience to me having had to cancel my credit card, change all my autopays from that credit card, and further, have all my personal information compromised. I informed the manager I didn't think that was a satisfactory response, and their response was equivalent to, "well we didn't charge you anything, so it's fine, and we are a great company!" anyways, I found the response totally unsympathetic and inappropriate. the actual agent may have made an honest mistake...a big one at that, but management's response was what I found totally unforgivable. read more

I just wanted to add a response to Alice's review, (who by the way is from NJ, not Deerfield, IL, so really not a reliable source to be commenting on an IL location). Every agency has good and bad agents!! Thankfully you found a good one, I unfortunately did not, which is why I posted this review to warn people not to use Pearl Cohn. And by the way--I have never, ever, posted a comment about ANY company on a public forum before, so I obviously had a very bad experience! Everyone with a Web connection has been shopping for their own airfares and hotel stays for years now. But travel agents are still working. Thank goodness, too. For corporate clients, they take the burden off of planning complicated connections or conference schedules for multiple staffers. But for us average folks, they can also find us bargains we can't know about and relieve the stress of researching every option to find the one we like. Our recent two-week trip to western Hungary was one of those that really benefited from the services of a top-notch, experienced, and super friendly travel agent. You'd expect such service only from a small "mom-and-pop" agency down the street or maybe through AAA (they're great too). But Frosch is a big agency, with a very impressive large office just two miles from the Chicago Botanic Garden. Yet the service and training of their agents is personal and thorough. Plus, this cost you nothing over the actual fees for your transportation and hostelry. Our agent, Cookie, found us airfares that bettered our own best researched prices and got our seat assignments right away. This involved a layover in Düsseldorf before landing in Vienna. Cookie reserved all of it correctly and our flights happened without a hitch. The more complex part of the trip was a 14-day stay at a thermal spa resort that is part of the Danubius Spa chain. Again, we had done earlier research on the exact place we wanted. Frosch, it turned out, had done previous business with that chain and we got the exact package that we wanted. Cookie spoke directly with the tour packager (Tradesco) representative to reserve it while we were in her office. Plus, because of the recent Icelandic volcano scare and unsettled airline employee problems in Europe, we thought we'd better invest in a bit of vacation insurance. This is something Cookie and Frosch knew all about and handled all the time. The whole trip began with a secure feeling that all the details had been attended to. And if a problem should arise (none did), we'd have Cookie to help us with just a phone call or an email. This is why one goes to a travel agent! read more

For all travelers in the Chicago area, or across the United States, I have a crystal clear review for you. Frosch Travel is useless if you have an internet connection and a brain. My wife and I booked a trip to Spain for our honeymoon. We're in our late 20s. We booked roundtrip flights to Madrid and leveraged Frosch travel to organize our inter-Spain travel. We spent $3,000 on services coordinated through Frosch and another $6,000 on airfare, hotel, and entertainment. The $3,000 covered hotels in 2 cities (Sevilla & Barcelona), a rental car, 3 one-way airline tickets, a wine tour guide, and a train ticket. We pre-paid for these services. When we showed up to the hotel in Sevilla we did not have a reservation. Frosch booked us at the wrong hotel. We had to pay for that hotel out of pocket and then attempt to be reimbursed. 2 days later, we show up in Barcelona to check into the Hotel Arts and they do not have a reservation under our name. In their system the reservation was cancelled 2 months earlier. Our wine tour guide was recommended at $1,400 for the day. We though that was expensive but were told that w/o a spanish-speaking guide, we would not be able to go on the tours. "These are small towns where people do not speak English". We arrived as scheduled for 2 wine tours across the day and went on 2 ENGLISH SPEAKING wine tours. Total cost: 10 euros per person for everyone else on the tour. We spent $1,400 and were the only english speaking tourists with our own guide. Basically, we paid for him to come learn all about the wineries too. The concierge at our hotel gave us the same winery recommendations and we could have gone ourselves for less than $50. Lastly, the main point of using a travel agent: please help us coordinate the trip since we don't know the country and want to see several cities. Like I said, we booked our flights to Spain and let the agent handle all of the inter-Spain travel. They booked us on a flight from Madrid to Bilbao and then a rental car to Elciego (wine country). We had a 4 hour layover in Madrid. The flight to Bilbao is 1 hour. The drive from Bilbao to Elciego is 90 minutes. The drive from Madrid is straight highway interstate all the way to Elciego and takes 3 hours. As a result, we cancelled our flights (lost $180 total), re-booked our car from Madrid to Elciego (an extra $50) and drove to Elciego, arriving 2.5 hours earlier than we would have. If you are ever contemplating using a travel agent, do not use Frosch Travel. However, you decide Frosch Travel is for you, then I highly recommend you avoid JUDITH WOLF. She is defensive when she makes a mistake. She does not put the customer first. She does not work well over email. She makes big mistakes on small but important things. (She booked a flight for us on the wrong day then had to rebook it when we saw her mistake - that cost us money too) When we approached Judith to discuss our feelings about the trip when we returned, requesting that at minimum we get refunded the travel agent fee (only $200) her response was, "I have 133 emails from working with you. I cannot refund you the $200." A couple of thoughts if you are contemplating a travel agent: 1) Who cares about the volume of emails? More than 80% of those emails were annoying b/c Judith was confused or asked for clarification or messed something up and we needed to correct them. 2) What kind of customer service is that? 3) That doesn't take into account the total number of hours we spent talking to Judith on the phone b/c she isn't good over email. She's not technologically savvy so she forced us, the customer, to use her preferred method of communication. We're the customer, if you don't like email, find us an agent who is comfortable communicating over email. We work full-time, are planning a wedding, and spent plenty of after-hours time writing emails to you with very detailed plans for our honeymoon. Return the favor, and spend the time getting comfortable with the 21st century and learn how to correspond via email. Any quesitons/comments, I'd be happy to elaborate on my experience in an unbiased, honest email dialogue. read more
