Public Park??? Not really! I'm not prone to giving bad reviews but after a year of trying to go to this park, I think they deserve what I'm about to say . The good news is that it is small, quiet and great place to go walking or walk your dog or have a nice meal at one of the benches.... but only when you can get in. The bad news is that it's closed to the public almost 80% of the year unless you go to one of the paid events that they hold there. While I understand that they have events for 4-H and the yearly fair they hold there. They have a bunch of other events that they shut the entire park down to the general public for. Don't get me wrong .... I'm all about having events for the public. But when it's one of the only parks within about 20 miles of where we live and we like to go there, but the gates are usually shut because they're setting up for some event 80%+ times of the year, we just have gotten used to not even going there anymore. It would be really nice if the county would make a park where citizens could go to relax, walk and play regularly. Simply not fair to the taxpayers who pay for this park and cannot use it regularly. read more

Attended the Sunbust car show here today with my husband. Perfect outdoor venue with large trees providing comfortable shade. There must have been over 200 cars registered for the car show, so the venue is large. The bathrooms were clean and had multiple stalls. There were also a few individual unisex bathrooms available. They also have a nice, large covered picnic area for use. Overall a very nice and clean venue. Would definitely attend another event held here! read more

This is a great park with a lot of amenities. There are open grassy and lawns, large trees, shelters, picnic tables. There are nice plumbed restrooms and various buildings that can be rented out. Nice trails throughout the wooded area. A lot of parking- especially the large lot in the back. Nice easy walk through the wooded and paved trails to the front grassy areas. Horse arena and what looks like camping spaces. Pierce County fair has been going on at this location for a long time. Popular but definitely not an over run park. Always room for people here. Good sized park. Only thing missing here is a lake, but the woods are very nice. (I am not from San Francisco- not sure why that comes up on here). read more

Favorite place to walk our dogs and fun seasonal events. Great open grassy play area and plenty of shaded areas for relaxing or having a picnic. Parking is easy and the grounds are maintained well. Beautiful park! read more

This park is great! I'm from Tacoma so I'm used to seeing homeless or shady looking people at alot of the parks in Tacoma. But I dont see any sketchy people at this park ever! It's one that I definitely feel safe walking my dogs at alone as a small female. If I dont have a walking partner then this is my go to park. read more

I recently visited the park down the street from me-don't know why it took me so long. Hiking trails-but they are a little short. I had to take the same one's a few times before an hour was up. Perfect for you and your dog, or for a family looking to take kiddies on a short hike and get some fresh air. Lots of lush ferns, trees, and wildflowers-take your camera! There are picnic tables, a playground area, and large fields for whatever. Some popular events they feature are a: Mutt Show, Yard Sale, and the Pierce County Fair. A lover of animals, I am looking forward to the fair. I used to go to the Ohio Fair for many Summers, so this will be nice to have a place to still be able to see them all. read more

This is one of our absolute favorite parks to play at! It has an awesome playground structure that is fun for all ages, and most importantly, easy for parents to get in/on/around if need be, without completely losing sight of little ones. We also like the grassy area thats big enough for play too. The bathrooms are always clean, well lit, etc. And parking is usually easy to come by too. There is plenty of room to walk and roam through the trees and the grounds as well. I always feel safe here, even if its not busy. And Ive never seen anyone sketchy just hanging around either. read more

I had the great pleasure of attending my nieces graduation party here today. There was a large play are for the kiddos with well maintained play structures. I noticed horses and what looked to be some sort of activity or competition going on with horses on one side of the park. There was tennis and soccer along with various family gatherings throughout. We had a lot of fun here and strangers weren't strangers for long. Everyone was friendly and it was just so in Irving and relaxing. Two critiques: 1. Grassy areas could be better maintained. There was a lot of bare areas that would have been a bummer in typical weather but fortunately it was dry today. 2. More parking (I'm sure that this is not the only park with this issue). read more

This park is the best when there are little events going on! The Pierce County fair is held here, & has lots of fun activities! There are all sorts of animals, shows, stuff to buy, food, rides & games. Keep in mind the park is small! There is a little play area & restrooms. Many covered picnic areas, a big grass field, animal stalls, buildings to rent, an equestrian arena with barns, little hiking trails & a miniature fast kart race track. The picnic areas, fields, restrooms, play area, & trails are open to everyone! The other facilities are for events! Trails are very very short. The main reason to come to this park is for the big field or one of its many events! read more

The actual play area is on the small side but still big enough to keep the kids busy. There are horses near by usually so it's fun to watch the riders. My biggest plus of this park is that it's not as busy as other parks. read more

Our family has used Frontier Park for years, and raised a generation of kids playing there. The park caretaker Erin is very friendly and very protective of the park which we like. We like the Pierce County Fair there also, it is still small and friendly, they have a little of everything. There are many activities going year round in the park.
