"Flamingle" is a separate event from the regular Key West Butterfly ticket, which gives you access to the popular conservatory, which is 5,000-square-foot glass-domed rainforest-like habitat where there are about 1,000 butterflies from 50 to 60 species flying around. The flamingos, a male and female, are called Rhett and Scarlett in honor of their coloration and obvious affection for each other. Coincidentally, since the species is often associated with love and romance, these prized wading birds were born on Valentine's Day 2012. They arrived at the Key West facility in July 2013 -- and as they grew, their colorful pink plumage, social nature and foot-patting "dance" in their wading pond made them visitor favorites. During the hour-long "Flamingle" encounter, we had a chance to take many pictures with them and just enjoy the beautiful green space...just a great experience. The bar is small but with only 4 people it felt huge. Also all the other bars we were at were full. The bathroom door is difficult. I almost called for help to get out. Overall it's divey with an abundance of niknaks and stuffed monkeys. They started karaoke at 9:30. It seems the songs are older. There is a couple that comes every night. It felt extremely awkward being one of the few being sung to. If you want to practice singing without judgement this may be the place for you.

Both Husband and I ordered the special omelette, with lobster, bacon, and tomato. The dish was rich and delicious, with an entire lobster tail and plenty of bacon. To top it off, the omelette was accompanied by a slice of banana bread. We were not impressed by the key lime pie. Although the pie looks impressive, topped by a huge mound of meringue, it tasted a bit stale. Its consistency was heavy, and the meringue flavorless. Don't let the pie, however, stop you from going to Blue Heaven. The brunch is great service is friendly, and you can't beat the atmosphere, eating outdoors with the chickens and artwork. Tip: arrive early to avoid a long wait.
