I don't have a need to purchase a ton of bulk stuff these days, but I always come to Costco for my cheese and butter cause the prices are great. The selection is great like any Costco and I've always found what I need.

I visited the Costco in Timnath, Colorado, on August 7, 2026, at approximately 9:52 a.m. The parking lot was packed, and I had absolutely no idea that these were special early-entry hours for certain membership levels. With that many cars and people there, I simply thought Costco was open and went to scan my membership card like I normally would. When I went to scan my card, the employee stopped me with a loud, "Whoa, whoa, whoa," in front of a crowd of people. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. I did not get the employee's name, but he was a taller, thinner-built gentleman with a beard and thinning/balding hair on top. I'm including that description because I believe Costco management should know exactly which interaction I am referring to and how customers are being spoken to at the entrance. I am very much a customer-service person, and that is what bothered me most about this entire experience. Had the employee simply said something like, "I'm sorry, early entry is for Executive members, but if you'd like, we can explain the upgrade," I probably would have listened. I may very well have paid the additional $54 and upgraded right then and there. Instead, I was made to feel embarrassed for having the "wrong" membership. I started shopping anyway, but I was so upset by the interaction that I eventually decided I didn't even want to spend my money there and walked out. Before leaving, I stopped at the front and asked to speak to a manager. A man named Paul asked what he could do for me, and when I explained what happened, there was absolutely no empathy or concern. Instead, he immediately defended the policy and told me it had been in place for a long time. The policy is not my issue. The way customers are treated is. If Costco is going to restrict entry times based on membership level, then clearly post a sign at the entrance so customers know before they walk up and get publicly called out. No paying member should be made to feel like a second-class customer because they didn't know about a policy. I pay for a Costco membership just like everyone else, and I expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Today, I was not.
