Then, I turned my head, and there was Halle de Rive. Halle the Rive is an indoor market that has a little bit of everything, including cheese, meat, fish wine, bakery, flowers, middle eastern food, and chocolate. There is also a little restaurant and bar attached. The problem is, it really only has a little bit of the everything it has. There were some empty counters, and others that only had a handful of items displayed. The market itself wasn't very big, and most of the shoppers seemed like tourists who had somehow found themselves there. I imagine it's much easier for people to get their cheese and meat at the local grocery store, as grocery stores in Geneva do seem to have a good cheese selection and deli. Perhaps that was why the market was so empty on a Saturday afternoon. But I had purchased cheese that I'd actually seen the guy cutting off of the huge wheel, and that was enough to make me happy.

This is one of my favourite places to explore and the best Fromagerie (in my opinion) in Nyon. Not only can you pick from a selection of fresh Swiss cheeses, but you can also grab some fresh local dried sausage, or other local products. The service is always friendly here and speaks some English. They have the best fondue mix, that they make on-site. However, it is highly recommended to eat it the day of purchase. When you request the fondue cheese, they will ask you for how many people, and if they are big eaters. They will then put together a bag for you, and be sure to ask them for their fondue instructions, as they have special printed instructions on how to best cook and serve it. I have had many other great stinky cheeses from here. But, for Fondue at home, this is my go to supplier.

Prices are reasonable, the soft cheese needs to be consumed at home by the locals or in a hotel room. The harder cheeses they vacuum pack and you can bring it to the US. You can also find some food items imported from the UK as well. If you are REALLY missing pop tarts, Reece's peanut butter cups, and other products, this is definitely the first place to check out. It is definitely not cheap to buy something in this store. At Thanksgiving you can even get your pumpkin pie straight from a can if you are missing it! As I don't miss the US plastic tasting food, I didn't bring myself to buy anything, but if you are missing something, and just can't find it at Migros or COOP this would be a great place to check out.
