I wanted to go to see/visit Troll at Point Robinson Park, this troll photo popped up on Seattle's…read moreYelp activity page and it was giving me hints that I must visit before I leave, hehe. 3.21.2026- On the day of our visit, I asked my wonderful hubby to add Point Robinson Park to our schedule, on the drive there it states one hour, funny, not knowing we have to take a ferry to get there. As we got closer the map had all water, hehe. What a nice spontaneous surprise, we decided to do take the Fauntleroy Ferry to Vashon Island. ( will do a review the Ferry after). Who doesn't love the Ferry?! After we got to Vashon Island, it was about a 20 min scenic drive to Point Robinson Park, So happy we are here! Keep in mind the park gates closes at dawn, I was worried about being stuck there and we arrive close to dawn. Plenty parking, very nice park with lighthouse, beach, trails and picnic area. First things first, lets look for the troll, which his name is Oscar the bird king, made by Thomas Dambo. Thomas Dambo is an artist based in Denmark, Thomas makes sculptures out of recycled materials. This sculpture is part of series of six site specific installations called Northwest trolls. I need to find the other 4 during my future visits to PNW. Wow, super cool to see and visit Oscar the troll in real life, a little scary but so interesting. Thomas is super creative and got skills. Oscar is huge in real life, hehe. We took our photos, observed the artistic skills, greeted him with Shaka, then after that we went to explore the rest of Robinson Park. Trail, beach and we finally got to the lighthouse, another reason to visit. There's a lighthouse tour during mid May-September, which I would love to learn more about. All in all, What a great day to make it a great day here, trolling Point Robinson Park, LOVED every moment!

A volunteer named Santiago shared many interesting facts about starfish, eelgrass, and crabs. He also told us about the whale that had recently washed ashore and was being kept at the art museum, which was very cool to witness.

The wine tasting was also enjoyable - all 3 wineries made a point to have the owner say hello and welcome us and it was fun to learn about Washington wine and compare it to the usual California wine we typically enjoy. And to top it off the catered dinner was great! We got to linger and enjoy each stop and then got dropped off very close to the ferry so we could head home. What a great time that we will be sure to recommend to others who are visiting Seattle!

We were recently traveling with our dog in the area so we had to take her on the pet friendly Mt…read more Rainier Gondola. Even though the weather didn't agree with us, we still had an enjoyable time. We purchased our tickets online a few days ahead because you get a better price that way. Each ticket is good for two separate rides. We arrived just after 10 in the morning and it was grey and overcast. The sky was very cloudy and there was a foggy mist over the mountains. It was lovely but not the best weather for sight seeing. We went ahead and rode up the mountain and back and it was fun but as you can guess the views weren't great from the gondola. About half the ride it was just like being inside frosted glass and all we could see was grey. We stayed at the top for a while but the winds were to fierce for our pup so we headed back down and spent some time eating, shopping and enjoying the area. We were hoping the weather would clear up later in the afternoon. Unfortunately for us, Mother Nature had other plans and it was cool, foggy and totally overcast all day. I wasn't even really that disappointed though because it was just so beautiful being there. It was honestly my favorite kind of weather. On our second ride, we did try riding the famous "Green Gondola". We had seen other people waiting for it on our earlier ride and asked a staff member what it was all about. They said it was just a replacement gondola so it didn't match the others exactly and we kind of laughed at how silly it is but people love things that are unique. There was no line, so we gave it a go and I'm here to tell you that it didn't part the clouds and I haven't won the lottery since riding it :) Sorry to say it is just like the red ones. Even with the weather, we made a really nice day of it and if you haven't seen this area, I would definitely recommend giving the gondola a try. I think next time we will probably risk the higher prices at the gate to make sure the weather is cooperating for the ride.

They were right. My lime green kayak from a less-common manufacturer was a hard shade to match, but Rhonda re-did the work around 5 times to get as close as possible. She was friendly and great to deal with, and the price was more than fair in my opinion. When picking up the repaired boat, I asked about helmets and she was super helpful, showing me several helmets and caps, finding a good fit, and having my choice shipped to me a couple of days later since she didn't have the color I wanted in stock. She was also helpful with a problem with my backband. (And she took Apple Pay, which was convenient for me.)
