I hate doing this to yall, but I need to because food poisoning is real as shit. I never knew until…read morewhen I had a burger at this place. My girl and I just finished camping at IL beach state park, and wanted some brunch-y food (like pancakes or eggs or whatever) on our trek back home to Chicago where the Bulls are being awesome currently. Anyway, we saw the sign that said this place was an eatery, so we assumed "ok we can get scrambled eggs and pancakes here". Nope, 'Eatery' means "This is a dive bar, and a lady who was complaining about a hangover didn't wash her hands and decided to make us burgers". The burger actually tasted fine, even though we didn't really ask for them. But my girl and myself have social anxiety sometimes, so once they lit up the grill, we felt too awkward to leave and find a goddamn iHop or some shit. Also, we felt pressured to have skunky beers at 11am because this place is a BAR, not a resturant. Call us naive or whatever yall want, but the only thing keeping us going was my excitement over "Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations" on the TVs. So whatever. That happened, our social anxiety-tinged experience happened, but we went home feeling okay, but not content with things. We were both fuckin miserable the next day. I mean, unable to keep anything down. I tried to eat some soup, and the first spoonful I had, I projectile vomited all over the place. My girl kept trying to drink water to hydrate herself, but even that wouldn't stay down. It was like the worst hangover ever, without the jokes of the stupid shit we did the previous night. 2 stars because of the Anthony Bourdain show.

Apparently, Carrie sold the business and the results are not good. Filthy bathrooms and bartenders…read morewith an "I don't give a S__t" attitude. The only reason to go there is Tue/Thur taco specials because the cook doesn't have that attitude and the food is good. They have broken TVs. I live nearby, but would travel further for a taco and better service.

Checked out this local bar in Waukegan that apparently is a favorite. It has a pretty chill feeling…read morewhen there aren't any games playing. Booner's Place is better than it looks when entering. Kind of divey but cleaner inside. The prices are pretty cheap mostly. Basic looking bar. It's actually bigger than it appears from the outside. There's enough room for big groups and parties. Has basically just lots of drinks. There's some beers on tap and lots more in bottles and cans, so great variety. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. There's a pretty okay choice of liquors. Has no food menu basically. They may have those frozen pizzas. For sure it's better than expected. It's located on Washington Street at Jefferson. This is mostly chill except when there's games or music on they have a few times.

Tried this place on the suggestion of friends who were meeting there to hear a band…read more I was prepared for the worst based on the outside- but it probably was one of the BEST entertainment experiences I have had in some time. Here are some of the highlights. - The neighborhood is in transition but not a real problem. - Lots of parking, it's OK to park in the school lot across the street. - NO COVER CHARGE for a well-known blues band popular in the greater Chicagoland area performing on a weekend. Unheard of. - The female bartenders are HOT HOT HOT and they had very sexy and cute uniforms. Each one smiled a lot and took care of drink orders QUICK. They were even nice when my guest switched to drinking water later in the evening. - Drink prices were about what you'd pay for a place with no entertainment, but with the benefit of entertainment! - Not too crowded, a nice crowd for a Saturday night. - Classy decoration inside the bar and comfortable seating. - Diverse crowd from 20-somethings to over 40's. Seemed like lots of singles and by and large friendly mid to upscale people. I didn't observe a SINGLE negative about this place (OK - the band stand could be elevated a bit so people could see them better) and I would be happy to go back again sometime when they have a band or maybe just show up to watch a game. It's obvious by the attitude of the employees that management knows how to best treat customers and have people leave with a positive memory of their night out. Trust me- don't be intimidated by the rough exterior, give them a try and judge for yourself.

No cliques here. The owner greeted me immediately with a hug. It was about 7Pm and this place was packed. The bartender immediately asked what I wanted to drink and within a minute a tall glass was sitting in front of me. The chefs were working so hard fixing nonstop orders of fish, fries, burgers, and tater tots for the most part. They were moving like a conveyor belt with the orders. From the time I arrived, until I left, not one order was messed up. All the staff are pretty friendly and just awesome overall. Don't expect long conversations if you're looking for liquor paid psychiatrist work while Friday fish orders are being filled. I had the baked cod (was always my favorite) and the first time the walleye with the broccoli crunch and tater tots. Walleye reminds me of catfish. Omg, everything was a 100 out of a 10 to be honest. Coming out of a dive tavern, yes. Everything had the right crunch or the perfect flakiness. Loved it. Friday Fishfry is the bomb here in my opinion. They do have a pool table, jukebox, and a couple of TVs.
