    Beef Stew Frites
    Melinda L.

This place is a MUST visit if you're in Belgium. I came here three times during my stay and I'm obsessed. The frites are cooked to perfection. The sauces are phenomenal. Together, it is heaven in your mouth. I tried all the options. Beef stew is extremely hearty and the addition of mustard seeds elevate it to the next level. The moules marina had pickled veggies and pickled mussels, which was surprising, but pleasant. When I visited, they had a limited addition yakitori chicken with wasabi mayo. Such a fun combo with great flavor from the chicken and sauce. I also tried the chicken bites, which were incredible if you're craving classy nuggets. All dishes had completely different flavors so it's hard to compare but I loved it all.

We like French fries, who doesn't? Heard about this fries place from a local, so knew we had to wait in the long, cramped line in the heat to try. The fries definitely were worth the wait, as they were the best fries we've ever tasted. The sauces were delicious too. If you have time and patience, order the fries!

I have eaten at the one in Ghent as well. Sort of a high-end Frittur. Only 4 or 5 sauces available and they are in big old-fashioned vats. Flemish stew and frites is what I go for here. You can get beer in bottles (I did see 2 tap handles) and soft drinks. The location here seems to be constantly full. There is only one level, the inside part is crowded and maybe can sit 4 groups, and they have an outside area that is about the same size and can sit only 4 groups. We had to walk down the street and sit on a wall. Ordering is to the left. The counter is where you wait to get your order.

This french fry chain is the best in the entire planet! They are 10x better than McDonald's fries and the flavor/texture will be like nothing you'll have ever tried before. The atmosphere, interior design, and food are amazing and you will not be disappointed. This restaurant chain can easily be the sole reason that would make a trip to Belgium worth it!

    Cheese croquet Fries

You must try fries when you're in Belgium and I recommend checking this place out. I had a cheese croquet and it was delicious. It's a little expensive $5-6 euros for 1 ball but it's very delicious and made from the top international cheeses. The fries were also around $5-6 euros and have different toppings. I thought they were typical fries but I guess it's a different occasion when you eat them in Belgium!

It's hidden down a quiet courtyard, right in the middle of the city but completely away from the noise and bustle. Totally one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. The atmosphere here is just magical -- rustic, romantic, and old-fashioned in the best way. Even though we were seated outside in chilly weather, it still felt cozy and inviting. You could tell this was one of those restaurants that lives and breathes its history. Now, the food -- We ordered the duck breast with red porto jus and gratin dauphinois, and the beef stew. The gratin was so good -- creamy, cheesy, and perfectly comforting. The duck, though, was a bit of a letdown -- quite tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing because the sauce was lovely. The beef stew, on the other hand, came out piping hot (just how I like it!) and was hearty and flavorful, though a tad on the sweet side for my taste. Still, it was delicious overall. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and never hovering. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. Our bill came to just under $100 USD, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality, setting, and experience. If you're wandering around Antwerp and want to escape the crowds while enjoying a cozy, candlelit meal in a spot full of old-world charm, this is the place to go.

They have a chill outdoor sitting for this times of warmth, and some good snacks. I am yet to try the proper food but it sounds good. Although I'm becoming a regular here, there are things I really dislike (and they're the reason I didn't give 4 stars). I don't know what the deal is with service in this city, but a lot of the times I find myself in nice, chill places with horrible service. In this particular case, there are a couple members of the staff (not all of them) who have the wrong attitude: Not making eye contact, responding to your questions in a mean way, or even a freaking smile. People often forget it's their job. And no matter what you do for a living, do it right. No wonder why "tipping" is not a thing in Antwerp. But still, I'll be a regular in this place. I can't let this ruin my experience anymore.
