The menu is small but there is no way you could easily get tired of it. We had the hummus falafel platter as a shared starter on both our visits. The fresh sprouts on top give it that amazing crunchy and fibrous texture. You have to try it. My only wish is for it to come with more than the two pieces of bread. For mains, I tried the watermelon steak, and wow, I had had nothing like it before. It was thick, juicy, and red! The accompanying sauces and spices were amazing. Why do people even eat real animals anymore?! The drink selection is sparse, but I enjoyed the hot ginger drink. They do have nice wines and beers. Water seems to be a paid option. He desserts are the signature menu item. I was told that the cheesecake is made fresh every day, although the flavors are kept a surprise. One time I had something with peanut butter and the other time a more plain one. Try to get a table outside. It really captures the essence of dining in one of Munich's youngest areas. I was lucky to meet the inspiring founders of Cafe Gratitude in August at a raw food workshop and from what I know, they planned to come back soon, it's a workshop worth attending for all those interested in joining the Cafe Gratitude community. Back in August, Cafe Gratitude Munich was just in plan, now it's a very nice reality and it's one of the places where I could stay all day long, it's part of my favourite cosy homey places in Munich. I recommend it to everyone, whether you are vegetarian or you are not so much into veggies, just try a few raw food dishes and then you will realize that eating raw is much more tastier than expected when it's properly prepared like it is in Cafe Gratitude and it's giving a boost to your energy too! :) I've added already photos of the delicious healthy food that I've got there, more to come from my next visit there! :) And after you will visit Cafe Gratitude, don't forget to let us know here on Yelp "What are you grateful for?" ;))

I have been to a lot of restaurants in the US and beyond, especially healthy ones. Mom's Table is extremely unique. They serve delicious vegan food that is anything but bland. Delicious salad bar, curries, gnocchi, stuffed potatoes, smoothies, amazing raw desserts... and every single ingredient they use is organic/biologique. I was told by the chef that the recipes were very carefully crafted over months and months of hard work. You can literally feel the love, time, and energy that has been put into this place. You definitely want to come and eat here!

But after multiple visits, I'm still lukewarm on the place. We've made the mistake of wandering in without a reservation, only to be given attitude (despite the fact that there were plenty of available tables). We've experienced service so slow that we had to go actively looking for the waitress (who is also the cook, owner, and sole person on staff as far as I can tell) to beg for the privilege of buying another round of drinks. In short, while on some visits I feel quite welcome, on others I feel more like a nuisance, which is not really how I want to feel in a restaurant. If you're a vegetarian who finds herself in Munich, Vegelangelo is worth a visit, but only if you are in the mood to be patient over what could end up being a very slow meal.

Rheingold more than delivered and was a brief 10 minute walk from our hotel (The Holiday Inn Express). We ordere the well acclaimed meal rolls and vegetarian rolls (both a smash), the chicken curry with a coconut milk soaked bread mixed in, and a few various salad options that were fantastic. The meal is a fantastic culinary adventure for the more than fair prices. Also, our server, Beno, spoke flawless English and was more than amenable to the floundering English speakers and explaining menu items (it was only our second day in Germany.) Our server even ended up giving us tips on where to visit in Augsburg. The meal was such a fantastic smash in terms of service and food that my family considered driving all the way back to Augsburg from Frankfurt for the remaining low-key/no-plans day we had. If you're looking for fantastic food and/or a late night option and/or great service with a good drink selection and nice low-key area, head here. And if you're staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Nagahama, just come here and don't worry about it.
