I live FJLC. When my family (military ) got stationed in Virginia back in 2005, I searched around for a close-nit , Christian pre-school for our daughter. I loved it so much, I wound up actually applying for a job as well since I had a background in Early childhood education. I taught PreK 3 while my daughter was enrolled in the PreK 4 program. I stayed and taught for almost 2 years, and only left because we decided to grow our family and my 2nd pregnancy became complicated and I was sick a lot. Now, in August 2018, I returned, teaching preK 3. I absolutely love the atmosphere here! I think just like ANY school or place of business, there's bound to be a few select unhappy customers or parents. As a mom of three and also a teacher, Im in the unique position of seeing things from both points of view. I urge you to come visit our school on any given day, and you will find teachers who truly love their students and are invested in them. And being transparent, just like many public school teachers could agree, we aren't here because we're making a ton of money. We are here because we believe that these children are the next generation of our country and world. We want them to be the best version of themselves. We believe God has a plan for each child's life, & we love them enough to sow into that plan. If you're looking for a school where the teachers actually take the time to get to KNOW your child.. My daughter has just finished her Kindergarten year at FJLC and it was such a great year for her. She repeated Kindergarten this year because after a year in public school she was still very far behind in her reading, writing and math skills; and had very low academic confidence. Since September this school has completely turned her around. Her reading skills are amazing (and above grade level) and most importantly she is confident to tackle new challenges and excited to learn. The small class sizes, ABEKA curriculum and outstanding teachers and staff provide a homeschool-quality education in a wonderful social and spiritual environment. They are reinforcing our family's Christian values through bible studies, verse memorization and worship. Most mornings my daughter is waking up singing a worship song - which just helps us start our day right! On the administrative side, I have also been very pleased. Management is attentive, responsive and helpful. The school is affordable and allows weekly payments. Tuition includes all sorts of extras like before and after school care, meals and snacks, books and school supplies. No page-long school supply lists handed out here! Lastly, the teachers and staff just love the kids. They are joyful people and seem genuinely fulfilled in their work. My daughter went to Friends in Jesus Learning Center for prek4. I don't even know where to start with how much we loved it there! When we first started out, I was nervous because she didn't know anyone there. The very first day, my s absolutely loved it. She was welcomed and loved by all students and staff. The curriculum is by far the best part of the entire school. She started out knowing very little and when she left for kindergarten, she was reading well beyond a first grade level. I also loved the Christian environment. They taught her bible verses, they prayed with her, and overall they provided her a loving environment that she hadn't gotten at her previous daycare. They are open 6-6 which was also awesome because they open much earlier than most places!! I am so impressed with the professionalism and the teamwork that goes on at this center. I have been volunteering around the church, school and property and truly sense a caring environment. Children are well cared for and spoken to with respect. The building environment is happy and pleasant to be in and around. The school lunches are made to impress. Each day the children are given fresh fruit and vegetables along with the main course. I have been invited to lunch many times and enjoyed chicken alfredo, chicken terriyaki, spaghetti, nachos, turkey rolls and more. It is a great place for children and adults. You can feel the love of Jesus as you walk throughout the building and morning chapel is a blessing to any who attend. read more

My daughter is 4 yrs old and she's in Ms. Sophia's class. She had never stayed with anyone except family since she was born. She started at Friends in Jesus in September and I became "that" mom. I called every day around lunchtime to check on her and the ladies in the office were amazing. I'm sure they knew after awhile that I was going to call and already had gone to check on her to see how she was doing. It took a few weeks but she adjusted quickly. Now she absolutely loves school and has learned so much. She has come so far in the last two months. I could not have asked for a better group of ladies to care for my baby. It has been a joy to see the progress and growth of FJLC! There are plenty of parents and children out there who have had outstanding experiences with the center. I had the pleasure of working there for a couple of summers after hearing such positive things about the work environment. I have met dozens and dozens of families that are absolutely in love with this place. The teachers are a delight and are dedicated to the truth in God's word. Friends in Jesus Learning Center is amazing! I definitely recommend this school. They go above and beyond for their students. FJLC is very welcoming to all students who walk into their school. Friends in Jesus Learning Center is the Best school/childcare out here in Hampton!!! When I had no patience to teach my 4 year old I sent her there and a drastic change in her learning occurred!! They have great teachers and not only do they treat you and your child like family they have a great relationship with your child!! They eat good food, they Learn not only academic but about God , which all of our children should know about, they play, they sing, and last but not least learn how to love one another!! Very kind and professional facility. The Directors of this facility are kind and always try their best to make sure that everyone is well taken cared of. The abeka curriculum is what is taught during the school year and it is some amazing material. The staff are very loving and kind not only to the children but to eachother. My son has never been in a school type environment, so I needed someplace that would prepare him for Kindergarten next year. Friends in Jesus is an awesome school. My son has learned so much, already. It's only been 2 months and he's almost reading! I looked at many preschools before I chose this school. My granddaughter has attending the academy for over 3 yrs. She is presently 6 yrs. Old. She has loved her teachers and the other staff. The administrators go out of their way to be accommodating to each child. The facility is clean and well kept. The curriculum is current and Christian life values are presented for the kids to follow. Everyone is friendly and fair to the kids.
