Lisa Barbaro from grand plans was the first designer to respond to my request for information. We agreed in advance to a price for the design plan should I proceed work with her design. This was very fair. As a consultant myself, I actually suggested she charge a bit more for her service. I was impressed that she offered to visit my property so she could see firsthand the light, the soil, etc..Lisa was on time and prepared with a survey of my lot. She did not charge for this consultation, which I found to be a good first step. She spent a sufficient amount of time at my home, asking questions and gaining insight about me and my ideas and preferences. We agreed that she would provide me with a written plan for concept, a digital 2D plan and revision(s), plant lists, and care guidelines for phase one of my multi phase project. NEXT STEP- waiting for the schematic plan. Depending upon the anticipated cost vs my budget, I may proceed to implementing the project using Grand Plans or as a DYI. My flower gardens were overrun with mugwort. If you know anything about mugwort, it's nearly impossible to kill off. Other projects included improving curb appeal and dealing with constant runoff from the lawn. Last year a lovely stone wall was built.
