Only problem that I had with this office was the fee for a CVT Scan of $250 , which I later found out from a friend, that works in the dental industry ,that its not needed unless you having an implant (which was not my case - Since I was going for a root canal) Apex locator was more appropriate for this type of treatment. Also- the root canal took two (2) days not sure why? I wish it was completed in one session. I appreciate the excellent medical skills of Dr. Leff, I never have any complications, prolonged pain, my issues are always resolved in a pleasantly perfect manner. I have horrible anxiety with going to see a Dentist. Dr. Leff, and his staff are very calming, reassuring, and highly professional. When Dr. Leff gives me a needle before he does my root canal, I feel no pain. Most of the time, I don't even know he has done my root canals, that is how awesome Dr. Leff is. When he went to take X-rays of my back tooth, he was literally digging the piece of equipment into my gums to the point he hit my gag reflex twice. (My back tooth curves back so clearly it was difficult to get a full picture of the root.) He didn't care at all. Not appreciated. Despite his clearly apathetic attitude for his job, he did a good job of educating exactly what he was looking for in the images. The expertise was certainly there but not the friendliest.

But most importantly, NOTHING HURT. I don't know how he did it; I'm pretty squeamish about needles. But, the whole thing was so relaxing, I fell asleep in the chair. Like, deep REM sleep. I was referred here by my previous dentist to get a CBCT scan for further diagnosis. I brought my…read moreprevious diagnostic notes with me. I have visited multiple dental offices in NYC before, and this was by far the most unprofessional experience I've had. A young assistant took me in and told me new x-ray needed to be taken. She seemed inexperienced and struggled to position the sensor in my mouth, she attempted to place it over 10 times, and each attempt was very painful. At no point was I given a lead apron for radiation protection. She took about 4-5 x-ray shots without getting a usable result, then a more senior staff member came in to help and took another 3-4 shots. They then determined the equipment was malfunctioning and moved me to a different room, where they took 3-4 more shots. When I asked whether it was even safe to take this many x-rays in one day, the senior staff just said the equipment couldn't produce a clear image. When I mentioned I'd never experienced anything like this at any other office in NYC, she responded sarcastically, "Oh really? Then you have to take a CBCT today." What's more puzzling is that the dentist only came in to look at my case after the CBCT scan was done. If a CBCT was going to be required regardless, I don't understand why I was put through so many rounds of x-rays beforehand. I have no complaints about the dentist herself. But the lack of professionalism, patience, and basic safety protocol (no lead apron) from the assistants made this an extremely uncomfortable and concerging visit.
