We stopped on a whim and because I love books and bookshops. We spent 3+ hours conversing with Winifred, who had an amazing knowledge of every book in her shop. I ended up buying many books, that I had to ship back east. Winifred and Singing Wind Bookshop are one of the reasons I fell in love with Arizona. Godspeed, Winifred, wherever you are, and thank you for 3+ hours that became a life long memory.

Stacked waist high and piled even higher, there are thousands of books crammed in this wee store. Old and used are mixed with brand new, no discounts on new books, just a "new" sticker and a higher price to compare to the old. It's dusty and there are remnants of bugs gone-by, but I adore the ambiance, the musty funk of so many words, memories and folks who came before me, marveling at the awesome regional collection, the endless mysteries and love stories, like life, so haphazard and ephemeral.

I've visited many times and there are always fun things to look at, from the staff recommendations, to locally made jewelry, candles, and bookmarks, to the seasonal offerings from the cafe. They also host a variety of events. The space is clean and modern with lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor. The space is on the smaller side though, but they still have a solidly curated selection of books to browse. I know I will be back again and again! Thank you for bringing such an engaging and well-run book shop to our community--we need more of this in our tech-addicted world.
