Zero follow up including the office manager who said this should not have happened and would call me back that day. Never did. I am kicking myself for using these people. I can not recommend more highly Dr. Penrose and his staff. I recently had Cataract surgery on my…read moreleft and right eye (July 2024). From the moment I walked into this office I was immediately struck by how very friendly, courteous and efficient the entire staff are. Dr. Penrose is very knowledgeable, extremely patient and was willing to spend his time answering all my questions (I had many) to ensure I felt at ease with the procedure and what I could expect result wise for my vision after surgery. Jessica who coordinates and schedules surgery dates, after surgery follow up appointments, details on medication, eye drops, after surgery care, booking the surgery center is exceptional and went out of her way to accommodate appointment times and dates to fit into my schedule. I had absolutely no problems with insurance billing and any costs, co-payments, etc all all were fully explained in detail. I also didn't appreciate how I was unable to get a callback from his office on my questions regarding a multivitamin he recommended me to take. So despite living 1 hour away from his office, I booked a separate in person meeting just to ask questions, and every question I asked was met with either arrogance, or a defensive tone. Even with simple questions like "when should I come to see you next considering my condition?" -- he could not respond without some level of drama. Maybe he was having a bad day, but still, I have never had a doctor treat me the way he did that day.

Dr. Gonzalez is a true professional and knows what he is talking about. He gave me an extremely…read morevaluable diagnosis and the correct RX for my baby within 5 minutes of evaluating her. I had spent an entire year going back and forth to Stanford and they couldn't tell me if my daughter's nystagmus was permanent, or if it was hereditary, or due to something that happened in utero. He knew immediately just based on her medical history! AND he obtained all of her records from Stanford and read them before seeing us which sped up the appointment significantly. I've spent hours at Stanford trying to keep a very active baby busy while waiting on specialists, which isn't easy or fun. The appointment was only 5-10 minutes long, which for me was an absolute blessing. It's hard to get toddlers to co-operate let alone take one to an eye appointment. We were in and out- with the correct RX! He's very nice. Don't mistake him being efficient for being rude. Kids don't want to hang out in doctor's offices. I found his approach very helpful and look forward to returning with our daughter as needed. His office staff was also very nice, and very efficient. I love that he takes all types of insurance including medi-cal which is hard to find for kids.
