EXTREMELY bad experience-that I am still suffering from almost a year later. I chose this office because I was told that Dr Matt specialized in exactly what I needed done and I saw good reviews here. I was so impressed when I walked into this lavish and beautiful office pain free a little over a year ago. I was certain that if they could have such an extravagant office-it must be an indication of the expertise I would receive here. 'Extra money well spent' I foolishly thought to myself about their extremely high prices! Yeah, no. I now experience tooth and jaw pain every day. I go to sleep in pain. I wake up in pain. Every. Single. Day. Dr Matt Friedman replaced 7 older front upper crowns strictly for cosmetic reasons-I had zero problems-NO pain with any of them. I was told it would take 3-4 max visits to 'beautify' my teeth. More than 12 visits later, I made my final exit-not yet knowing the absolute hell I was to start experiencing months later due to what was done. In addition to all the crowns he put in (that will need to be removed and replaced), I may possibly need to have a tooth that never caused me any problem (FRONT EYE TOOTH #9 that had zero pain issues after a root canal over 35 years ago) to be either re-root canaled (!!!) to repair what he did to it-or have it removed and have an implant put in. My front upper tooth. The first one you see when I (used to) smile. My upper and lower teeth are no longer aligned causing constant jaw and tooth pain. Rather than sue this dentist and take years to resolve- I chose to allow Dr Friedman to refund my $12,303- because I stupidly thought that the refund would cover the expense of repairing and replacing what was done. I was wrong - all repairs will be at my own expense over and above the refund. I am looking at what could be tens of thousands of dollars to just get back to pain free again. So yeah-beautiful office. Nice view from the rooms. Netflix, too! I guess you should determine what is important to you. For me-I would rather not had Netflix but had someone who didn't need all his work redone. But hey-at least he got a lot of practice. Sadly, at my expense. Maybe you will get lucky and have it done right for you. I think it is important for patients to be very careful with any doctor they select and be aware of possible issues they may face with their choice. Starship Dentalprise. Seriously. It's like stepping into the future, all white walls, glowing blue lights and thick glass doors that open with a whoosh. If it's cutting edge in dental they have it: 180 degree xray, digital macro photography, 3D teeth scanning and crown making. They will even give you a big glossy print of your xray and tooth photos. All this might be cold if it weren't for the warm human element. Derin, the dental assistant, couldn't have been more charming. Dr. Mark, while expressing concern for the state of various teeth in my mouth (including one growing in a somewhat alien nature), wasn't scary just matter of fact, and clear about what needed to happen and in what order. Crown prep visit: About as easy as a dental visit gets. The Dr. Mark uses a robotic anesthesia needle which literally caused no pain at all, nor did it freeze half my face. You can watch Netflix, or listen to music, and before you know it, the drilling is done. The doc 3D scanned my teeth with a wand-like scanner (painless), and will send that data to the a company that uses CNC machines to mill lithium silicate ceramic into crowns that are supposed to fit perfectly. I hope so! So far everything's been great. Oh--and when you leave you get a delicious cookie! UPDATE: Dr. FRIEDMAN MAY HAVE SAVED MY LIFE. That's a lot to say for a dentist, but he truly may. He's so thorough in my scans and photographs, that he found an odd lump on my upper palate. He referred me to an oral surgeon who did more scans, then referred me to a neurosurgeon who said it's good this was caught when it was, or it could have lead to very serious illness. And throughout, Dr. Friedman has personally called me three times to follow up and see how I'm doing, a very caring thing to do. No other doctor, or dentist, ever noticed what he immediately spotted, and apparently it's been going on for years. So thanks again, Dr. Mark, for being a mensch as well as a pro! I was referred here by a friend for an issue I was having with my sleeping device to help with mild apnea. First of all, you feel like you've walked onto the bridge of the Enterprise...Star Trek style! It's an amazing office...just a wonder to behold! Then the staff are fantastic. So sweet and helpful. Samantha was in charge of me and she couldn't have been nicer and so charming. Dr Matt, the son of this Father/Son practice, was so calming, knowledgeable and charming also. He knew what to do and is making me a new device. Samantha also said they would do their best to file with my insurances and see if I can get reimbursement. Let me begin by saying that I never viewed going to the dentist as an enjoyable experience. But after being referred to Friedman Dentistry and visiting Dr. Matt, my views have definitely changed. It was a very enjoyable experience to say the least. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the friendly front desk staff. Then as you walk through the halls of the office you feel like you are walking through a futuristic spaceship. Like something out of a movie. Then you go into one of the rooms where you are shown to your chair to relax a bit until the Dr. walks in. You even have the option to watch Netflix while you wait. How cool is that? As soon as Dr. Matt came into into the room he made me feel right at home. He used the most advanced 3D scanning software to do a full analysis of my teeth and see what he was dealing with (LOL). He then went over my options in detail. The diagnosis was that I needed some deep cleaning and then had to replace a few very old veneers. The veneers were actually the main reason for my initial visit. After doing the cleaning I was ready for the veneer update (I actually had crown and veneer combination put in). Dr. Matt went over the new shapes and after precise color matching I had my new teeth put in. And they look great! I think even better than before, I am very happy with my new teeth and Dr. Matt did an exceptional job. This dental office is so clean and so high tech with Star Trek like doors, reminds me of the Apple store. Dr Friedman examines your mouth using a super high powered microscope... he even e-mailed me a short video with voice over about my cracked tooth. Dr Friedman spends a lot of time with you and I never feel rushed he takes the time to explain and answer questions. Everyone in the office friendly and kind you can tell they really care about their patients. The hygienist I see spends about an hour cleaning my teeth (while I watch Apple TV) my teeth feel like glass afterwards they are so smooth, at my prior dentist the cleaning was pretty quick and my teeth never felt smooth like they do now. I first met Dr. Friedman in 1979, when I was a little daredevil who broke her front teeth while riding her bicycle. He took me under his wing, understanding my disappointment about my new, awful appearance and how to help me to have a beautiful smile despite the root canals and dead teeth that resulted from my accident. I haven't lived in Southern California since 1989, but I make a point of having my cosmetic dentistry done with him whenever I need it, fitting it in around visits to family. He is smart, thinks problems through, has a good eye, and has always had a lot of integrity. Whenever I'd get work done where I was living, I'd inevitably have him fix it at my next visit home. Dentists would claim they could improve on his work and they just couldn't. He just "knows" my mouth and its idiosyncrasies so well. From time to time, I recall we would switch dentists as a family, looking for someone who cost less for checkups or something. Inevitably, they'd start recommending a ton of expensive fillings and we'd realize again that Dr. Freedman was just worth it and go back. He would never do a thing like that. Ever. He knows my teeth, my general health, how strong my gums are etc... He personalizes his treatment so that it's specific to my needs. He doesn't just fill a cavity to fill a cavity. Because he cares to learn and know what's going on in my mouth he can determine when the right time for everything is. And most of all, he is smart and precise, and he has the most insane equipment.
