We started with bread. Not as good as I remember but it's there when you're waiting and if you have extra garlic sauce when you're done you've got something to dip and that's always a treat. The chicken for lunch is filling. The garlic flavor still good and strong. And I can say there's nothing like the plantains at this place. Just the best perfect sweet treat during the meal. We drove three miles and got there around three pm. When we arrived there was plenty of parking on the street. As we walked up to the door, it didn't look like they were open. My son tugged at the door and it was locked. Just as we were walking away a young woman came to open the door. She said they were having a meeting, but they were open for service. We were seated in the front of the restaurant. They also had a huge dining room on the side. The young lady served us some fresh bread with this delicious green sauce. She took our drink order. I had a plain ice tea and my son had a Peruvian soda called "Inka Kola" My son kept raving about the bread and green sauce. It was good. We decided to try the Grilled Spanish Octopus as an appetizer, my son ordered the Arroz Chaufa/Fillet Mignon, and I got the Crispy Salmon. Before I go any further I just want to say that each dish's presentation was TOP NOTCH. (See Attached Photos) When I first saw the Grilled Octopus, I thought damn this looks so good I don't want to cut it. I told my son to take the first bite. The look on his face was priceless. He said, "Mom this SLAPS!" I cut off a piece and it was so tender, it melted in my mouth. We got our entrees and I must say again my plate was BEAUTIFUL! When they say CRISPY SALMON they meant it. Both the skin and the meat had a crispy texture. The Quinoa was very good. The side salad had little vegetables that were cut star shaped. The salad's ingredients (apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados) were so good I barely used the dressing. I just ate it. I must admit I was hungry, I cleaned my plate. I haven't eaten like this in a while. The portion sizes were just right. My son loved his fried rice, although he said it was a bit salty. He had a second, Inka Soda. I strongly recommend the Criolla empanada, which is the most traditional, Argentinian empanada. It has ground beef, raisins, eggs, green onions, and spices. It was absolutely delicious and, when I go back, I will select this empanada!! I also recommend the corn empanadas (humita), especially if you're looking for a vegetarian option. It has corn, melted mozzarella, and white sauce. So delicious! I got these to go, but there are cute tables indoors and outdoors if you want to enjoy your empanadas there. They are extremely friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to make our visit fun and memorable. The chicken empanadas with chimichurri sauce we had were DELICIOUS! They were full of flavor, well made, and hot. I wish I had another one now. I will definitely return during my next visit to Venice Beach.
