GREAT DOCTOR I…read morewanted to continue my care with Dr. Rose when he went out on his own. Previously when he was with Queen City Physicians it was difficult to get in when I was sick. Now he is very flexible when seeing me for issues or just a simple question. The time spent with me was so much more detailed and meaningful. Although there was a charge initially for the first 4 years I felt my health was worth it in the long run. I feel he is great at listening and even better in his care and ethics.

Dr. Brown has been the pediatrician for our four daughters ever since we moved to Cincinnati. And…read moreshe's been wonderful! She's very professional, but not in that stuck-up "I'm-a-doctor-and-you're-not-so-that-makes-me-better-than-you" sort of way. She's professional in that kind of "I'm a kid's doctor that really cares about patients" sort of way. The office takes up a small, brick building. The waiting room is nice and quaint, and her staff is great. Dr. Brown herself has always been wonderful with our kids. Even though they've gotten to the age where she only sees them during their yearly check-ups, she always remembers them (or at least does a great job acting as if she remembers them) and is always very engaged and speaks with them and us equally. She always explains thing to my wife and I in a way that makes things easy to understand (not an easy task for a doctor, I'm sure). She has great bedside manner and knows how to relate to the kids. Two great things that I want share. When one of our daughters had infected lymph nodes and had to have surgery (at just two-years-old) Dr. Brown was very supportive and stayed in contact with us and the doctors at the hospital (Cincinnati Children's...another great place)making sure we were getting all the information we needed, and keeping us up to date on her progress. And a different time when another one of our daughters had some blood work done, about an hour later Dr. Brown herself called and told us that there were some things in the blood work that she was a bit concerned with and said she wanted us to take her over to Children's to get some additional work done just to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong. She had already called the hospital and when we got there they were already waiting for us. All because Dr. Brown made the effort to call and make sure we were well taken care of. Only two things that I would say are a bit on the negative side. Because of her great reputation she is always very busy. Which results in long waits. If you have an appointment at 10:00, chances are the doctor isn't going to be able to see you until at least an hour afterwards (sometimes it's almost two hours). The other negative was an insurance issue. A few months back I lost my job which meant I lost my insurance. Because of that we had to put our girls on Medicaid, which Dr. Brown doesn't accept. That was kind of a bummer. But, got a new job with new insurance (actually same carrier as my old job) so that's good. Dr. Brown is great with kids, great with parents, and is a really great doctor. I trust her completely with the well-being and health of my girls. Mahalo, and enjoy.

You can see how genuinely she likes and cares about kids. The whole practice at Pediatricians of Hyde Park is great- the building (now 3666 Paxton) is nice and new, with plenty of exam rooms that each have fun, kid-oriented wallpaper. We always get a quick phone response, and it is never a problem to get an appointment with one of the doctors in the practice if we need them. We've been seen by a few of the other doctors and they all are great.

Not to mention calls about finances before you even meet a doctor…read more What they don't tell you about this process is it's one of the most emotionally draining things you will ever do. Tons of appointments, medications, not enough clear communication about what is going on and no promises of success. The couple I met in the waiting area had been trying it for 3 years before success. With that being said I will say Dr A gets results ! I will say this the west Chester office is awesome Sara, heather and Jackie were great. If you're heavy in any sense of the word you will need to lose weight before ivf and the dr has no problem saying it. What they need is free counseling and a weekly support group for all the stress that you have to go through. On the website they mention a support group and gave 3 dates at the beginning of the year I guess the rest of the year we are on our own. I met a few women who were just as frustrated as I was and we started meeting and talking on our own. She's now pregnant like me and our kids will probably be friends too. I've found it more helpful. At this point I've had 3 iui with no success and I just got my first ivf with icsi on a 5 day blastocyst it was successful it's a lot to go through but it's a long way to the finish line. Dr a does a good job putting me at ease. Bottom line dr a can get it done but it's going to take a while and some work no bippity boppity boo here.

This practice is inconsistent at best and often incompetent. Several basic items in my plan of care…read morewere missed and several staff where ill equipped to deal with basic parts of their job (e.g., telling me clearly I was experiencing an early pregnancy loss, when I clearly was due to blood work). We should not be expected to be shrinking violets when faced with incompetence in a medical practice that has such a firm grip on the market here in Ohio for something so critical. What a racket! I understand why people feel grateful to IRH when they get pregnant here. But if you look at outcomes data OR simply try to engage with this practice, you might see that this place is very far from best in class and very far from being a good patient support in an important life moment. Here are some examples - 1) 20% of the time that you call, you get to talk to a person 2) The plan of care discussed with a doctor in a 5 min visit is not revisited in subsequent visits with other clinicians (in my case, leading to a delay in initiation of IVF because of confusion about when the cycle would start) 3) You will sometimes wait for 45 minutes for an 830a appointment that will take 10 min, with no acknowledgement of the issue or attempt to improve. After experiencing several levels of dysfunction in this practice, I hope everyone interested in fertility care hears this before wasting time here -- IRH has some good people working for them but they are not the best place for care (just look at SART outcomes if you don't believe me!). I hope to spare everyone the dread and delay that is associate with dealing with this group. It is sad to see so many people sit quietly staring at their shoes in the waiting room at Rookwood - dependent on a practice that appears to care so little about being best in class. So happy for those that got pregnant here despite the clear issues with this practice, which have obviously become worse over time with Dr. A's retirement.
