Audrey B. HesterPointer Family Dental (Van Buren, AR) Just…read morenow · I worked for "My Dentist", who sold their business to "Heartland Dental", and this current office is now renamed Pointer Family Dental for over 5 years. Over those 5-6 years I worked with Dr. Brenda Donato, Dr. Johnny Pearce, Dr. Adam Anderson, Dr. Jason Anthony Smith, Dr. Christopher Larson, Dr. Noble Dallison, and more. I was first a business assistant, then a treatment coordinator, then a treatment planner, then asked to be the office manager, I had great experiences there at times, but also nightmare experiences there. It is a very corporate push for profit atmosphere. Now, here is where it gets important. I was diagnosed at the end of January with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Nottingham Grade 3, Stage 2 Breast Cancer but the area that was biopsied on the 16th of January grew from 12mm to 17 mm by Feb 3 and I have to start my chemo by the 12th of February 2025. My cancer treatments and follow up care with every medical field is getting really expensive and crucial to complete ASAP. So, my Christian Care- Medi-Share told me to make sure to use my dental discount plan through Careington 500. I found this out after hours for Pointer Family Dental, so I advised them that I had this at my appointment and the office and Dr. David Hurst is by law contracted to follow the Careinton 500 fee schedule. If you know dental or medical coding, you understand that you have to follow the contracted coding costs for treatment. And believe me, I followed up that Dr. Hurst didn't opt out of Discount Plans. PJ, the office manager, told me that she didn't care that home office was supposed to remove them, and that she called my Insurance/Discount Plan, and I had no coverage. Even though, I only had 2 days to seek treatment for potential issues, Dr. Hurst refused to do my treatment because he stated that when PJ stated that I didn't have coverage, and after I called my insurance company and they proved that they had just told PJ that I had coverage, and Dr Hurst was in network and had to follow the fee schedules that were hundreds of dollars less than the treatment plan that they made me sign, they called Van Buren Police Department to make sure that I left the property and Dr Hurst stated that I was too confrontational because I know the laws and my rights and how to look up my fee schedule and they were without doubt over charging me. The manager PJ tried to show me a treatment plan that was cash prices even after I showed her I was in network for the Careington 500 discount plan. She also told me she didn't care what online is showing them in network. Heartland Dental home office was supposed to have already corrected this. I called them, and I hope the dental office called them as well, but no one has reached out to me. They would push employee Bingo during certain periods of the quarters that the Bingo Squares would state that you diagnosed a crown and flipped same day treatment, or diagnosed a cavity, and placed a same day filling, or more pressingly they wanted you to diagnose someone that needed Invisalign, Implants or Bone Grafting. If a dentist diagnosed any of these issues, and a treatment planner helped them get a payment plan or financing the office or employees were rewarded. I worked for them starting around 2013, even though I live over an hour away after I left the company, I still paid cash prices for my family and I to be seen there. I found out the end of January that I have a very invasive fastest growing types of ductal carcinoma. They have all of my dental records going back to 2013. I asked for them to get me in to prevent any obvious potential infections that could pop up through my chemotherapy treatments. They did get me in to get a cleaning and although they did a full FMX (full mouth x-ray series) Dr David Hurst didn't do a full exam and it was unnecessary because I have had so many panos/ fmx's and scans completed due to every dentist wanting to do more Invisalign on me . I will scream from the hilltops though my hygienist Carlos Espinoza was absolutely amazing, and I am sad that I probably will not get to see him again.

Disregard anything nice I have ever said about this place. I just got out of my filling appointment…read moreno less than 15 minutes ago. I am so distraught I went straight to yelp and will share my AWFUL experience so no one else has to do the same. I would rather have my teeth rot out of my face then step foot in this chamber of distrainment. Lets start with the part of my past that is pertinent to this situation. I had about two years of counseling because of my phobia of needles and syringes and have done very well getting over it (I have given blood 10 times). Well "Dr." Franzmeier came and sat down, leaned me back while having small talk. As soon as I was laid back and had my mouth open he had his tools out and needle already in my mouth. It would be nice to let your patients know when you are about to stick a needle in their cheek, SIR. So after I ask what it was I started freaking out a little bit because I had ZERO time to prepare for it. He just kept saying "you're making this out to be worse than it really is" and "you wont feel it". No compassion. No understanding. No giving me time to collect myself. He did it and walked off to do something else while the medication kicked in (I assume). I started crying. He comes back about five minutes later and starts working on my filling just as quick. The only thing I could hear in between his the conversation with his assistant about something that happened yesterday with her family was "dont move" and "keep your mouth open wide" and "dont close your mouth". He took his gloves off and walked off to another patient while the assistant finshed everything with me. Shouldnt have surprised me that he did so without saying anything to me much less check on me to see if I was still coherent. I didnt say another word when I got up out of the chair. That is the last payment they will ever recieve from me. I wont recomend them to anyone and he will have a letter in the mail from me very shortly telling him everything I have stated here. There are several good dentists in this area, he is not one of them. You are supposed to be a patient advocate in the medical field, not have them leave your office beside themselves.

This is the only doctor I have ever had that never made me wait when I have an appointment, he is always on time. He and his staff appreciate punctuality as much as I do. His staff has always been friendly and courteous. I have lived in many places around the country and I was in the military so I have seen several different dentists and Dr. Franzmeier is the best dentist I have ever had. I have been seeing dentists long enough that I know what to expect and I appreciate it that he gets right to work. Be aware that Dr. Franzmeier is a dentist, not a psychoanalyst. If you require counseling, you went to the wrong office.
