My TERRIBLE soldering job on the master shower valve had "shockingly" sprung a leak and was steadily dripping into the wall. I spoke with David at Sparky's - he asked if I needed immediate assistance, or if the next day would be okay to fix it. I wasn't in dire straights, so I scheduled for the next day. At 7:30 at night, it was very refreshing to speak with an actual human being. I had called 3 other outfits prior to Sparky's, and nobody answered. David was extremely professional, very friendly, and even very complimentary about the other rehab work I had performed to this point. After he fixed the valve he asked if I would leave the wall open for a few days, and randomly check to make sure it wasn't leaking. Before he left my home he said "I don't care if it's 3am, if you find it leaking call me. I will come right over and take care of it. We stand by our work.". That is very, very refreshing in today's world! He called me 2 days later to check in and make sure everything was going okay, and gave me the green light to seal the wall back up. I can't recommend these guys enough! The service is great, and even though this is the only experience I've had with them the cost was very reasonable.

TO The Handyman Service, Contractor License # HANDYHC853M9…read moreBellingham, WA We are pleased with the workmanship of the assigned technician, Dayton, in his fabrication and construction replacing the front porch. The finish work was detailed and site was left clean and lovely. We did experience a single dispute occurring at the end of the project. While we had the verbal assurance from the project manager he would keep us apprised of cost overruns, we received a staggering surprise at the end of project, only with the final billing. When disputes or misunderstandings occur, there is always a lesson for both parties involved. We have learned with future projects to have all our requests in writing prior to implementing and making down payment for the job. Verbal sales statements are never enough no matter how sincerely made. We have learned to demand accounting toward the original contract, and to demand the new estimate of costs of new issues in labor and materials, as they occur. This clearly keeps all parties on the same page. In our case, we expected some cost overrun, but were unaware of the change order resulting in an overall 38% cost increase. While we did verbally discuss some rot issues and the placement of a new support pole, we had no change of order workplan to sign off our understanding of the potential increase in cost range. We are grateful to the owner and the project manager for reviewing our dispute, coming to an agreement for 31% above the final contract amount, after review of receipts and labor log. Had it not been for a breakdown in communication and lack of written understanding for both parties, this job clearly would have been a 5 star!!!!

I have had an issue of water leak at one of my doors that has been an issue ever since the house was built due to improper installation. Back in 2015 (when the house was complete) the first rainy season came, and a ton of water came into the house. Unfortunately I was not living in the home at the time, it was rented. We had already moved out of state. I knew of the issue- and visited it every single year, off and on. I did have a couple contractors look at the problem and quoted literally thousands of dollars and explained the issue to be a long drawn complicated one. Being military, with a crazy schedule, and then due to the $$$ we never finalized repair. Intimidated by committing to a contractor due to money and then not having the time to do research just made this an ongoing issue. Every rainy season, water would come in, creating some significant damage. Finally, round 5 here we go...I randomly decided to pursue this again, with absolutely no hope that anything would materialize. Within 7 days of contacting James at ACME, issue is 100000% resolved. Cost? 1/8th of what others were quoting, the issue? Not complicated he made it seem simple. He responded to my inquiry SO quickly, so efficiently. He made the time to go out to the home immediately for an inspection and when I asked him when he planned on going out, he said he already completed majority of the work and just needed to go in for some final touches. It's beyond quality of work or work ethic, it's beyond an honest contractor who quoted a price that I could not refuse and with a keen eye inspected other issues that needed to be addressed, it's beyond all that. It's about finding someone that respects your time. I am only in the US for a few more days, and I expressed to him that before I left we could even get to the point of him making an appt. with my tenants and going out to the home, I would be so happy. (Most contractors in the area would either cancel their appt, or provide too long of a lead time- weeks). He completed the job before I thought possible, beyond expectations, for that I am SO grateful. Being active duty- it's always important to find someone that is trust worthy, reliable, self-motivated, and values your time. I will certainly be a return customer. PLEASE do not look anywhere else, if you happen to come across this business contact him, you will not be disappointed. Last note- he honors the military and gives an excellent discount! THANK YOU JAMES.

This is a message I sent to Jeff at Hydro Mechanical:…read more I just need to follow up in email to the service that I have received from this company. I am sure the email will fall on deaf ears but just want to pass it on anyway. I had a heating issue several month ago, I called Hydro Mechanical as I like to support local business owners. I was satisfied with the turn time and fix that was done and even the billing. So when I had heating issues again about a month ago, I called again. The initial call was friendly and helpful......UNTIL after the work is done....after that, conversations are short and borderline abrasive. I am a friendly easy going person and just wanted to discuss the billing. So let's get to the billing. I was billed for an 90 minutes of service time. I live 10 minutes from your shop. The tech was at my house for 20 minutes (fixed the problem) and 10 minutes back to your shop. I am not sure how that equates to 90 minutes of billing time. I called to just check and pretty much all I received is "I have to trust my guy". There is no actual "timeline" covering the billed 90 minutes.....all I was told was "maybe he had to go to the warehouse"? Really? You do not know where the time billed is coming from? Every minute should be accounted for....from the time the tech leaves the shop, arrives at the house, leaves the house, and arrives back at the shop. I know in your world $50 is not much money......I am absolutely ok with paying what is earned. I just question the validity of a 90 minute billing on a job that was 40 minutes at best. But...all that said, you are holding your ground, and I will pay the bill. I will never recommend or refer your business to anyone I know. So much for supporting the "local business.
