UPDATE: We've been back here a few times for minor things; my 3 legged dog is prone to needing his…read moreanal glands expressed, stuff like that. But today Dr. Povol and Mammas saved my boy's life. It started last night when WWD (world's worst dog) found a hole into the crawl space under the deck and came out with a rib bone from God only knows where or when. After a protracted tug of war this 3 legged brat looked me right in the eye, yanked his head so I lost my grip and gave a cartoonish GULP and swallowed that bone. Efforts to make him vomit from hydrogen peroxide were a threat to my life and limbs so we trekked off to VEG urgent care in Millburn at 11 pm. They were super nice and got him to vomit up a whole can of food but the bone stayed stuck in his stomach. After much discussion I chose to bring him home for the night because if he did need surgery I knew it would be twice as expensive at an ER facility. I called Dr. Povol at 8 am and they got us right in; 2 hours later Able was in surgery. The whole staff has been exceptionally kind and thorough, keeping me posted throughout the day and calling to check in once I got Able home. The surgery was about $2800 total which I know from experience is more than fair. He's got a belly full of sutures and is sleeping it off but he will be just fine, soon to continue his reign of terror. From last year: I'm on an extended visit with my family in Bayonne and one of my dogs got an eye infection. I've lived in Los Angeles for 25 years where we have truly human-grade medical care for pets so I wasn't sure what to expect in Bayonne. Wow was I impressed. This is a wonderful hospital. We got a same-day appointment which was really nice of them because they were busy. Every single staff member was kind and courteous and caring and professional. Once we got into the exam room we had to wait about 20 minutes and the super-nice tech came in to apologize and explain they'd had an emergency. I certainly understood and didn't care, but not every place bothers to explain what's going on. Dr. Povol came in and I loved him. He was incredibly thorough, explained everything. I saw another review where he was described as no-nonsense and I'd basically agree but he's kind and was laughing at the ridiculous histrionics of my other dog who was crying because he wasn't getting all the attention (!). I will absolutely return, my other dog can get cold laser treatments on his back and needs a dental. On top of everything else, the bill was a fraction of what I would pay in LA or at other hospitals around here. They even have their own garage for parking! Worth every penny and I recommend this hospital with 5 glowing stars. I came here because of the great reviews; there were some negative ones on Yelp that were from 2-4 years ago and they DO NOT reflect the experience I had. You will always find someone who had a terrible experience and write a review. Most times when people are happy they just go about their business, but when people are upset they are quick to post a review. I TOTALLY recommend this hospital.

Since…read morethere is no option for less than 1 star I'm obligated to choose 1 star which is giving them more credit than deserved. I am highly disappointed, disheartened, and just underwhelmed by my experience here. Upon arriving the veterinary comes in and quickly grows impatient with me asking a simple question in regard to a stray cat I took off the street that I was planning on bringing in to get looked at. I was looking for a home base veterinarian for my animals. I simply asked if at the end of the visit he could take a quick look at a picture of the cats eye because I was concerned it may be going blind. Instead of saying sure we can take a look at the end of the visit and then maybe further schedule something so I can better assist ; he completely dismisses me and my concern for this helpless innocent cat who hasn't had a home or been cared for in god knows how long. This apathetic, cold ,and dismissive so called veterinary wouldn't even look me in the eyes or face me. He simply did not care. His name is Dr. Ken Heilpern. I will remove the Dr. from the remainder of this review because he does not deserve to be acknowledged with such high regard and respect. Ken Heilpern was cold, dismissive, heartless and threw a hissy fit because I asked a question and it didn't financially benefit him to answer this question. Little did he know that if he had showed remorse, concern, or just a little care that I would have brought all 3 of my animals here and paid what ever necessary. Nonetheless, Ken Heilpern was huffing and puffing, very short with his words saying "pssst well that's something else's uhhhh ummm sorry I can't, that's something else." The level of unethical and unprincipled service is unmatched here. This all happened after he gave my kitten a general check up and said the kitten looked great. So as we were going to follow through with the vaccination we decided that he was so money focused, unwelcoming, unhelpful, unpleasant, and impatient that we did not feel comfortable or safe enough to follow through with the vaccines for my kitten. I simply would rather have someone warm and caring; whom I trust and whom genuinely cares for animals and people. I would feel more comfortable with someone who cares to register vaccinations for my animals then a money hungry, cold, apathetic, indifferent, emotionless and unwelcoming imposter handle my innocent animals. Furthermore, when I told Ken Heilpern that we would hold off on the vaccines because we just didn't feel comfortable...he then hastily and aggressively grabbed his things and said "ok" In a very contemptuous cold manner and fled the room instantaneously. I have never in my life been so displeased and disappointed. I'm posting this review everywhere so that Ken Heilpern can hopefully understand it's not ok to treat animals and people this way. Doctors in his position should wake up eager and willing to help; with a heart full of compassion, patience and respect for little innocent living animals because after all we are just asking for the greater good and well being of a beautiful innocent animal. Perhaps you choose the wrong career Ken Heilpern. Consequently, I do not recommend coming here. It's disappointing and unfair for the others whom work here who may take more pride in their work. Other employees whom show up to help guide and protect. It's unfair to those individuals that Ken Heilpern gives this facility a bad rep and shows up to the work place with this kind of inhumane attitude and negative energy. I'm sure this isn't the first complaint he has had against him. So hopefully this serves as a wake up call and sign to who ever is in charge. Lastly, I would never recommend anyone here for the fact that he works here and is comfortable enough to operate in this way and treat such serious matters with such little care. Go anywhere but here.

VPC is a good clinic and very convenient. Over all prices are so reasonable considering what they…read morecould be. Keep in mind they are NOT urgent care or emergency. Stop going to general practice offices and expecting emergency service. It literally doesn't work that way. Furthermore, please don't listen to the nickel and dime reviews--the practice is doing their due diligence and gold standard of care, which unfortunately costs money. Diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries or dentals all require medical equipment and medications that they have to purchase and therefore you have to pay for. There's no pet insurance that's like human insurance, so the prices are much different. You have to be willing to pay for good care. As a client it's unrealistic and literally unlawful to prescribe a medication to a pet (yes, even "one they've been on forever") without seeing the pet ONCE A YEAR at least for re-examination. Your dog has chronic ear infections? Then yes, obviously you can't just keep refilling without an exam. Wouldn't you like to know if the issue is resolving, evolving, or worsening? Stop dragging veterinary clinics because you don't know how the industry works. So before you take some of these reviews which are only OPINION, do some research. Yelp allows 100% opinion driven reviews, and they don't fact check. You could be harming your own pet and someone else's business by listening to vitriol on the internet.

The staff clearly love their jobs and genuinely care about animals, and aside from this experience, I've generally had positive visits here. I've seen two vets - one was great and our most recent appointment was with Dr. Choi. We brought our cat in because she had blood in her stool, and we were very worried about her health. During the visit, Dr. Choi commented that because my cat's vaccinations were overdue, "it would be very awkward if she had to report me." As a first-time pet owner, this came across as threatening rather than helpful. This could have been handled much better by explaining which vaccinations are legally required and why, instead of making a comment that added stress during an already scary situation. Unfortunately, the way this was communicated left a bad impression, and while I appreciate the staff overall, I won't be returning.

During the appointment, the new veterinarian conducted a brief examination-listening to his heart and checking his ears, where I had specifically noted his allergies tend to present. The entire exam lasted approximately seven minutes, largely due to my dog being restless. I am aware that this practice is generally on the higher end in terms of cost, and I anticipated a bill in the range of $200 based on prior visits. However, I was presented with a bill exceeding $400, which was unexpected and shocking. I was informed that prices had increased this year, though I did not receive any prior notification by email or see any posted notice in the office. I was also told that because there was "something wrong" with my dog, the exam fee was higher. This was confusing, as I had already disclosed his allergies when booking the appointment and this was not something 'found' during the exam. Due to the significant and unexpected increase in cost, I declined to proceed with his vaccinations at that time. I requested to pay only for the exam, though I expressed concern about the pricing given the limited scope and duration of the visit. I was told that the standard exam fee is $93, but that it now increased to $115 due to the allergies identified during the visit. I reiterated that this was not a new finding, as it was the stated whilst booking the appointment. Unfortunately, the receptionist was unable to provide clear answers to my questions regarding the pricing. She then concluded with an offer to provide my dog's medical records and I should "seek care elsewhere." Overall, I was surprised and disappointed by this experience. While I understand that costs can increase, a significant and uncommunicated price change (particularly without clear justification) was both unexpected and frustrating.

The entire experience is consistently great - the space is clean, modern, and really comfortable, which makes a stressful situation feel so much easier. Dr. Rodriguez is truly amazing. She is incredibly patient, kind, and thoughtful, and you can tell she genuinely cares about providing the best possible care. She took the time to explain everything in a way that was easy to understand (not overly medical or confusing), which we really appreciated. They also fit us in last minute for what we thought was an urgent issue, and we felt so supported throughout the entire visit. Tati, the vet tech, is also so lovely. Both her and Dr. Rodriguez are amazing with our cat and made her feel as comfortable as possible. Bond Vet is by far the best - we're so grateful to have found them and will continue to go here for all future kitty needs. Highly, highly recommend.

The front desk is a mess. Scheduling is unreliable, communication is sloppy, and there's no indication that anyone is carefully tracking patients. Basic administrative competence is lacking. During our initial visit, the veterinarian Avery Shannon entered my dog's birthday incorrectly in their system. This is not a minor clerical error -- it directly impacted vaccine timing, which is critical for a puppy. I had to catch and correct this myself. That alone seriously undermined my trust in the clinic. On top of that, multiple appointments have been canceled on the spot by other vets, with little to no notice and no meaningful effort to accommodate or reschedule. It's incredibly frustrating to rearrange your schedule only to be told, last minute, that the appointment isn't happening. Finally, Bond Vet is extremely overpriced for very routine services. The fees feel inflated and disconnected from the quality of care or organization provided. The overall experience comes across as money-hungry, with high charges for basic care layered on top of an already chaotic operation. Between the disorganized front desk, incorrect medical records, repeated last-minute cancellations, and excessive pricing, Bond Vet has shown a consistent lack of professionalism. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who values accuracy, reliability, or fair pricing in veterinary care
