I will say that once we connected with Dr. Reed & Dave the Vet Tech, our experiences improved dramatically in the exam rooms. Both gentlemen were true professionals and really took their time with us. I hold these 2 caring & empathetic professionals in extremely high regard. Dr. Reed came into the office this past Thanksgiving morning and spent 3 hours with us and our extremely ailing dog. I do wish the practice would modernized the health care files of their patients so that info would be more readily accessible.

It started last night when WWD (world's worst dog) found a hole into the crawl space under the deck and came out with a rib bone from God only knows where or when. After a protracted tug of war this 3 legged brat looked me right in the eye, yanked his head so I lost my grip and gave a cartoonish GULP and swallowed that bone. Efforts to make him vomit from hydrogen peroxide were a threat to my life and limbs so we trekked off to VEG urgent care in Millburn at 11 pm. They were super nice and got him to vomit up a whole can of food but the bone stayed stuck in his stomach. After much discussion I chose to bring him home for the night because if he did need surgery I knew it would be twice as expensive at an ER facility. I called Dr. Povol at 8 am and they got us right in; 2 hours later Able was in surgery. The whole staff has been exceptionally kind and thorough, keeping me posted throughout the day and calling to check in once I got Able home. The surgery was about $2800 total which I know from experience is more than fair. He's got a belly full of sutures and is sleeping it off but he will be just fine, soon to continue his reign of terror. From last year: I'm on an extended visit with my family in Bayonne and one of my dogs got an eye infection. I've lived in Los Angeles for 25 years where we have truly human-grade medical care for pets so I wasn't sure what to expect in Bayonne. Wow was I impressed. This is a wonderful hospital. We got a same-day appointment which was really nice of them because they were busy. Every single staff member was kind and courteous and caring and professional. Once we got into the exam room we had to wait about 20 minutes and the super-nice tech came in to apologize and explain they'd had an emergency. I certainly understood and didn't care, but not every place bothers to explain what's going on. Dr. Povol came in and I loved him. He was incredibly thorough, explained everything. I saw another review where he was described as no-nonsense and I'd basically agree but he's kind and was laughing at the ridiculous histrionics of my other dog who was crying because he wasn't getting all the attention (!). I will absolutely return, my other dog can get cold laser treatments on his back and needs a dental. On top of everything else, the bill was a fraction of what I would pay in LA or at other hospitals around here. They even have their own garage for parking! Worth every penny and I recommend this hospital with 5 glowing stars. I came here because of the great reviews; there were some negative ones on Yelp that were from 2-4 years ago and they DO NOT reflect the experience I had. You will always find someone who had a terrible experience and write a review. Most times when people are happy they just go about their business, but when people are upset they are quick to post a review. I TOTALLY recommend this hospital.

I needed to get a second opinion bc the first place had everything negative to say about our Frenchie and surgery that he might have had to do but getting a second opinion from Dr. Mamas has truly made us feel at ease and no surgery was ever even needed! Dr.Mamas is a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor and his honesty for our pets is very rare to find in situations like ours with our Frenchie. Both Doctors are absolutely amazing and can't recommend enough! Friendly and welcoming staff and especially the cutest dog that the staff has and always a pleasure greeting everyone! There is available parking right outside the clinic and very reasonable prices especially compared to other clinics. My daughter and son were able to obtain an emergency appointment for him, even though he was not a patient at Bayonne Animal Hospital and also we do not have an Emergency Animal Hospital in BayonneThey were able to see Melo anyways, Which was such a relief. We were worried about his health and the doctors made my daughter and son feel at ease. My daughter bright in consciousness, supply and demand got the appointment as soon as possible at the lowest cost which was this hospital for pets , , . Many, many times In my opinion it is hard economically to care for your pets as you would yourself, kids, husband or wives but pets are as much a part of the family as anyone of our family members and due to that I hope there are more affordable pet supplies for pet doctors, lower cost for families with pets and in the future and a Emergency Animal Hospital in Bayonne, Nj. Unfortunately , he (Melo)had to have surgery, when he came home he was very tired from the surgery. Melo was also very sensitive to noise, we were supposed to put on a plastic cap after surgery but quickly saw how much that further added to his grief after surgery we just watched over him and made a comfortable place under my daughter's bed. Thankfully the next day Melo was able to get a appointment and my kids were reassured he would be fine. And Thank God he is fine and in good health. A little about Melo. He is a young Tuxedo Cat is very curious at all times, loves his family and always purrs at the door of the kids room,when one of the kids is missing for to long. Every summer since we have had him, he likes to look out the window for the pigeons that hatch near my daughter's room or living room and every Christmas he sleeps under the tree or eats the branches. During the off season we can catch him playing with his toys or waking up from a slumber lumberjack sleep under the kids bed. When awake he likes to do the Downward dog (which I think is so funny, ironic) to start his day. He is so cute in his stretchy pose and also relaxes by laying to the side on one side and switching to other on his back till you pet him. He also does this pose when he is in trouble but he is so cute it doesn't take much for us all to smile. In honor of The Betty White Foundation as talked about on NBC news for New York we want to remember you Bayonne Animal Hospital in our prayers. Stop going to general practice offices and expecting emergency service. It literally doesn't work that way. Furthermore, please don't listen to the nickel and dime reviews--the practice is doing their due diligence and gold standard of care, which unfortunately costs money. Diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries or dentals all require medical equipment and medications that they have to purchase and therefore you have to pay for. There's no pet insurance that's like human insurance, so the prices are much different. You have to be willing to pay for good care. As a client it's unrealistic and literally unlawful to prescribe a medication to a pet (yes, even "one they've been on forever") without seeing the pet ONCE A YEAR at least for re-examination. Your dog has chronic ear infections? Then yes, obviously you can't just keep refilling without an exam. Wouldn't you like to know if the issue is resolving, evolving, or worsening? Stop dragging veterinary clinics because you don't know how the industry works. So before you take some of these reviews which are only OPINION, do some research. Yelp allows 100% opinion driven reviews, and they don't fact check. You could be harming your own pet and someone else's business by listening to vitriol on the internet.

Rather than being met with understanding and support, I felt judged by Mia, the veterinary assistant. Her remarks about my cat Angela's small size, accompanied by disapproving gestures and tutting, struck me as unprofessional and unnecessarily judgmental. Angela has always been a petite cat and is consistently provided with food and proper care. Mia's behavior left me feeling as though she had already concluded that I was an irresponsible pet owner without taking the time to understand my circumstances. Additionally, when I expressed interest in scheduling Max for neutering, I felt pressured by the supporting staff to schedule both cats for surgery, rather than having my preferences respected. There was also no discussion of potential discounts or financial accommodations for scheduling two procedures. I value professional guidance and understand the importance of preventative veterinary care. However, I do not appreciate feeling judged, shamed, or pressured when making decisions about my pets. I brought my animals to this practice because I care about their well-being, and I expected to be treated with the same compassion and respect that I want for them. When our elderly Scottie developed complications from a tick bite (anaplasmosis), they did everything possible to help and were very humane and compassionate during her last days. Our diabetic cat, Fuzz, lived on a strict regimen of humulin, and Dr. Mammas and Dr. Sirny never hesitated to have us come in for a quick blood check. Right now I have 5 cats ranging from 9 months to 14 years, and a couple of them have some odd conditions. The oldest has inflammatory bowel disease, and the next oldest has an autoimmune condition attacking her gums. They have worked with us to manage these conditions and both cats are doing well. We also have a terrier mix dog who loves to go to the dr and get some love. This is by far the best vet practice in Bayonne. I saw others when we first moved here, but have stuck with these guys for a very long time.

I recommend them for new kittnes and older cats and I was so happy they were in BAyonne.

I handed over a happy, healthy dog and expected to pick him up looking fluffy and refreshed. Instead, I was horrified when they brought him back completely shaved down without a single warning or phone call asking for permission. I barely recognized him. Later, they contacted my family claiming my dog had red irritation bumps, but that made absolutely no sense. My dog sleeps beside me every single night, and I check him constantly -- he had never shown any signs of bumps, irritation, or skin problems before stepping foot into this place. To make matters worse, they somehow lost his collar, something I then had to replace out of my own pocket. When I brought my dog home, his entire personality had changed. He seemed withdrawn, miserable, and deeply uncomfortable, nothing like the playful dog I dropped off earlier that day. His condition worried me so much that I rushed him to the vet, where I was given medicated cream for his irritated skin. Then, two days later, I discovered a black mark on his ear that suddenly began bleeding heavily. It genuinely looked as though he had been cut during the grooming process. Seeing my dog in pain and bleeding was heartbreaking and infuriating. When I confronted the owner about everything that had happened, she denied every single concern and refused to take any responsibility. The entire experience was upsetting, stressful, and traumatic for both me and my dog. If you truly care about your pet's safety and well-being, I strongly urge you to think twice before bringing them here. I will absolutely never trust this place with my dog again.

The vet near me out so much stress on the situation, taking their time and making her come back 4 times in 1 week, racking up 1500 in bill, before trying to keep her for a few days for another 1500.
