While the…read morewait is very long for routine visits, surgeries, and check ups, he truly does care about your animals AND charges incredible prices, and that's why he's so busy. I've read a few reviews about people being taken in after others arrived first-- but I think I can explain part of the reason why. I grew up with 3 pets over a span of 16 years, and when those animals started showing signs of sickness and suffering in their old age, I was devastated. After fully accessing and making sure that euthanasia was the right decision for each of those pets, Carlos would bump me to the front of the line because he does not want to see both the owner and pet suffer longer than they need to. He's even tried to give me senior pets a chance by providing them with daily fluids and different medications to see if they would improve even if their outlook didn't look so good. After my most recent visit with my cat of 16 years, he comforted me while I was in tears, made sure my cat was the least stressed out she could be, and prayed over us after we said goodbye. There were newborn puppies yipping nearby that he had just assisted birthing, and one of the assistants let me see them (not touch of course) and I was able to appreciate the beauty of the circle of life. I received both the ashes and the paw print imprint in just a few days. Carlos CARES. I will be taking in my new young cats to get their spay and will happily wait the long hours to receive the quality care that Carlos provides. RIP Oreo, Waka Waka and Temone. I finally decided to take a chance and book with Dr. Hatch based on all the previously raving reviews, and I am really glad I did. The only annoyance was that all Banfields were booked for 3 weeks to a month out, but besides that, everything went smoothly. The day of the appointment, I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled time (there were 3 people waiting outside before me) and checked in through a walkie talkie at the door. The staff came out and brought Bowser in within 5 minutes while I filled out his paperwork, owners aren't allowed in the building yet due to COVID. They called me shortly after to discuss the reason for the visit, explained the wellness plan to me, asked if any vaccines were needed that day, and told me the doctor would call me when Bowser was ready. Dr. Hatch called me 10-15 minutes later to discuss everything that they had done (bloodwork, tests, check up) and told me since the plan covered a dental cleaning, I should schedule that since it's good preventative care. I had a few more health questions to ask and Dr. Hatch was patient/helpful and took his time to explain everything to me. A few minutes after that, Bowser was brought back out, I scheduled his dental cleaning, and we were on our way home. The total time from getting there to leaving was no more than 30-40 minutes. I don't know if I was just there on a good day but I had a great experience. All the staff members I came in contact with and spoke with over the phone were friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to bring my pup back here.

I drive there and they tell me that usually they call and let people know that they don't actually do appointments after 10. They didn't call me. I understand that many times veterinary hospitals receive negative reviews because we are in a heightened emotional state when our pets are sick or in crisis. But my experience here was the complete opposite, and I feel it's important to recognize the incredible care they provide. I rushed my beloved dog, Bella, in during a medical emergency, not knowing just how serious her condition was. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff treated us with such kindness, patience, and compassion. They took the time to thoroughly explain her diagnosis and condition in a way that made me feel supported and informed during one of the most overwhelming moments of my life. What stood out most was not just how they cared for Bella, but how they cared for every animal in their ER. I witnessed firsthand how attentive and gentle they were with pets whose owners weren't present--comforting them, monitoring them closely, and treating each one with genuine love and respect. That meant everything to me. Tragically, Bella passed away the very next day. When I returned for her cremation, the staff showed me an incredible level of compassion. They comforted me in a way I will never forget. In such a painful moment, their empathy and kindness brought me a sense of peace that I didn't know I needed. I am beyond grateful for the care, dignity, and love they showed my sweet Bella--and for the compassion they showed me. Thank you for everything you do for our pets and for the people who love them.

Upon bringing up the nearly $100 discrepancy, the vet and staff denied responsibility and tried to tell me it was my fault even though they showed me the bill from the last visit and I okayed that charge, not the new one they sprung on me. Additionally, my dog was screaming when I was waiting to get medicine, and the vet told me not to worry about it and to let her finish talking even though my dog NEVER sounds like that and I was expressing concern. To top it all off, she couldn't even say with certainty what my dog was ill with and in no way instilled confidence in me. In general, I did not feel like she cared about my experience as a long time client or for my pet's well being. Even with the tech, I had to repeat myself over and over for why I was there and I did not feel heard. I have been coming here for years with positive experiences from other techs and vets, and I was so disappointed by how I was treated this time. I also felt they tried to silence me (saying it wouldn't work out well for me and to stop talking) when I was trying to tell another guest how I was treated in this clinic upon leaving. This is my point of view but if I were you, I would find a different vet. They have gone very down hill and I was shocked at how poorly I was treated. I'm so deeply disappointed

I've gone back and forth over whether to write a review or not, but at the end of the day, this is about our besties, who for many of us are our children.. I wish someone had warned us about the lack of "heart" in "heart" of Chelsea, their irresponsible and incompetent care before we found ourselves in this position. On Saturday morning 1/13/24 my husband brought our dog to HOC with a fractured humerus. At first, things seemed great as they called around to find an option to get us to a hospital with a surgeon on call and recommended American Medical Center. Unfortunately, everything else that followed was unprofessional, unacceptable, and unbelievably upsetting. For whatever reason, someone at HOC told us to arrive at 4 a.m. to AMC and that his x-rays and records would be sent. At 8 p.m. I called AMC and they said they'd never heard of any individual being told by their vet (or any person) to come at 4 a.m. and couldn't understand why we were told to do that. They said that was highly irregular. At this point, we'd now lost valuable time since apparently there had been a surgeon on staff earlier and possibly could have gotten him on the schedule that day and now with it being MLK Day the following day, we'd likely not be attended to right away. They also had no X-Rays from HOC. (HOC would later put the blame on AMC, a 100-year old institution with a stellar reputation.) My husband was told at the time of the visit, "if we had questions or concerns, we should page the doctor on call and they'd be able to help. Not to worry." Awesome (in theory). After AMC said the info HOC gave us was incorrect and confusing, we called and paged the HOC doctor on call. And TWICE a person who did not identify herself called back. She had no idea who we were, what we wanted, why we were paging and after we explained everything and expressed our panic and concern, she not only provided us with no sense of security or any information of any kind at all, but she was totally dismissive, said she couldn't be of any help and hung up after less than 3 minutes with no answers. I can't imagine that was a doctor and if was shame on you. HOC's manager Jody later insisted that was the doctor we spoke to, which was even more worrisome to know that a doctor could act like a teen working the late shift at Taco Bell. Hoping the original doctor was right, we showed up at 4:30 a.m. And it was pointless. Had we gone after HOC, we could have gotten on a schedule, but instead lost a day. But I digress. our dog was taken in at that time. ... And we get told he may get surgery that day but most likely not. Later in the day the surgical team calls and said it'll probably be Monday or more likely Tuesday. WHAT!!! And we are left with a lot of questions and, being dog dads, left in anxiety-filled confusion. Here's where it goes from bad to the completely unacceptable and unconscionable. Again, we did what we were told to by the original doctor and paged the "doctor on call." A woman called back, and I explained everything. I was clearly a distressed dog dad and she literally told me "I don't know anything. I am only the person answering calls from 7 to 9. I can not be of any help. I don't have info. This isn't anything I know. Sorry. Bye." And I say this will all seriousness an no sarcasm intended, I have had more compassion, information and professionalism from the DoorDash delivery person about a food order than I did from your "on call" person over my canine child who was in an animal hospital ICU. Yet, as if it could not get any worse or more infuriating ... this morning we got a call from someone at HOC and my husband spoke to her this time. He explained everything and how we had just paid $10K and were told that the surgery could go to Tuesday or Wednesday and now and the response was, do you want me to call around to find you another hospital to go to. What the hell?! That was the sage advice and suggestion. Knowing we had now paid you $1,400, including $400+ for X-Rays that were never sent and had to be redone (essentially costing us $400), and knowing our dog was already in the ICU at AMC (where HOC suggested) and that we paid $10k, they thought having us go find a new surgical team at some other place in some other part of town, disrupt him and move in his fragile condition and pay another $10k (potentially delaying surgery further and potentially causing more damage to his injury and traumatizing him even more (not to mention the trauma we were already experiencing) was the wise, secure and sound medical advice you had to offer. We accepted years ago that choosing HOC meant paying a little more because the care was basic: shots, blood work and the occasional eye infection. I would not trust them with the care of any animal, and could never in good conscious recommend them to anyone.
